During the cold weather of February, one of my kitchen sinks would not drain. My husband attempted to fix it by cleaning the trap, but that did not solve the problem. On recommendation of a friend, I called Goode Plumbing. They made an appointment for the next day and indicated that there was a $60.00 service call charge for coming out.
The plumber that arrived was very professional and seemed like a genuinely nice person. After commenting that he was seeing alot of frozen pipes because of the extreme cold, I was quoted $489.00 to rod my sink. As we had several leaky faucets and toilet issues, I also asked the plumber to quote me a price on while he was in my home before we got to the kitchen sink. The quotes ranged from $523.00 - $784.00 for each repair which seemed quite pricey. I was assured that I could receive a discount on this price by joining their program or if I was going to do all of the work the owner would give me a better rate. I was told that he had already asked dispatch for the owner to call me, so I should get that price shortly. To date, I have not received a call or email with that ""better rate"".
As for the sink that wouldn't drain, the plumber went out to his truck and came back to the house with a second plumber and some tools. In short order, they told me that the tool would not rod all the way through and likely my pipe was frozen. The plumber indicated that he was very sorry but since they had already done the rodding, they would have to charge me. I did follow up with Goode Plumbing about this charge, without response.
My issue is that since the plumber knew that pipes were freezing because it was so cold outside, shouldn't he have looked at that first as part of the service call before charging me $489 for rodding a pipe that did not need to be rodded? That seems wrong. Beyond that, and seemingly being quite pricey, no issues.

Goode have been amazing. We had to have some substantial work done (including digging up of a portion of a driveway to clear a blockage in a pipe) they were quick to come out, knew their stuff and very professional. After all this work and expense however we were still having an issue with our kitchen sink - Goode came straight back out and spent a lot of time diagnosing the issue (during this process we all discovered our buildings plumbing is very unusual and made their job very difficult) - after several visits Goode managed to fix the problem and did not charge us additional fees. We really appreciate all their time, effort and patience. They provide great customer service and make sure the job gets done. Thank you Goode!

I strongly urge against hiring Goode Plumbing for any emergency services you are needed. My experience with them was awful and I believe they engage in unethical and perhaps illegal business practices.
I hired them to investigate a reported leak in multi-family building I own while I was out of town due to family emergency. They quoted me a base price for emergency services (& said price would go up from there) and $60 service fee which they said would be deducted if I used their services. When the plumber arrived he cut a hole in the ceiling, confirmed the leak and went upstairs to the 2nd floor unit to find the source which was a sink overflow which had caused flooding in the kitchen. He turned off the faucet & said he'd have to charge $300 to rod out the clogged pipe that caused the overflow. I declined saying I'd contact my insurance company since I would have to file a claim anyway. He quoted me $271- $60 service call fee ($211). I agreed. We hung up & I started working with my insurance company to get mitigation team out in the morning.
Within 10 minutes I get a frantic call from my 1st floor tenant saying the plumber told her she was in grave danger of imminent electrical fire due to 2 inches of standing water right above her head, there was black mold all throughout the wood supports where he cut the ceiling, etc. and she should leave immediately and I should contract with Goode's partner restoration company to clean up the aforementioned problems. I freaked out bc he hadn't told me ANY of this & I couldn't understand why not. I called the plumber immediately but he declined my call. I called Goode's main number and to my surprise he picked up. I confronted him about what had happened & he literally hung up on me. I then, believing my home was in imminent danger of electrical fire, evacuated my tenant to an airbnb, asked Allstate to send an emergency mitigation crew out to my place IMMEDIATELY and got in my car and started driving back to Chicago from Pittsburgh at midnight fearing the worst.
When I arrived home at 8am after driving all night, I was told by the emergency restoration company hired by Allstate that there was no risk of fire, no black mold, and no standing water. He said dubious plumbing companies often exaggerate dangers in order to prey on panicked home owners & get them to hire the plumbing company's own restoration companies to do very expensive & sometimes unnecessary mitigation. I was livid!! Then on top of that I saw a charge on my credit card doe $331 instead of $211! I contacted Goode immediately demanding answers. The customer service rep apologized & said she would fix the credit card charge and have someone contact me immediately about the false claims made by the plumber...that was a week ago & I still haven't heard from them or received a credit for the incorrect charge.
Needless to say, I would NOT recommend using this duplicitous company!

True plumbing professionals. Showed up on time for appointment. Masked up and wearing booties. Investigated my plumbing problem. Identified a short-term and permanent solution and quoted both so that I could decide what I could afford. Agreed to a option based upon their pros and cons about each option. they fixed the problem during this same visit. They are super knowledgeable, honest and willing to discuss other plumbing problems while on-site without additional charges. These folks will be my go to plumbers going forward. No more chasing the others that can't schedule a time because they are too busy

I used Goode in the past & was very pleased. I stupidly called a different plumber this time & regretted it--so I called Goode again. They came out at a convenient time, were respectful (unlike the other plumber), and explained exactly what they were doing. They didn't try to ""oversell"" me--they actually let me know my issue wasn't as bad as I'd thought. I'll call them first next time!

High-rise plumbing in Chicago is no joke. Pay high-rise fee for on-site visit. Discuss what is to be done. Don't want copper & brass? Say so. Alternatives exist. Certificate of Insurance provided and work completed within time required for inspection by maintenance. Goode delivered fixed price choices; financing available through third-party firm.
Liked options presented at different price points during visit. Offered suggestions & comments before doing estimate. Not sure he called his boss about prices but it looked nice. Estimate included six pdfs & pictures of my plumbing so effort to document. Lots to view & organize & decide but it's 2021 so not much choice. Coordination of information between office & plumbers could be better but was decent.
Brian from Goode worked slow and steady; minimized mess with his assistant Jacob as he worked. Pleasure to see fast a plumber can move when quitting time approaches and he knows his job. No sign of their presence except plumbing was fixed.
Plumbing is on-going maintenance regardless of high-rise, two-flat or bungalow. It won't last forever. Consider how long you intend to remain. Shop accordingly.
It's Chicago. You have choices.

Three stars. The work of Brian was very good, he installed a new kitchen sink fixture. BUT, he and the office workers (who I called twice) refused to give me am itemized bill on an $800 job. ""We only give total amount."" I think that refusing to give an itemized bill is suspicious. I will not recommend or use them again.

Alex Ybarra was very professional and was able to fix my garbage disposal without any issues. He offered several alternatives and then we decided on a fix and then next thing I knew, he had it taken care of.

I am certain this is the correct company. All correspondence was done with my husband Sal H. during the week of 11/9. Feel free to reach out to him directly.

I can't even begin to describe the gratitude and respect that I have for Goode Plumbing.
My husband and I moved into a home (as first time homeowners) a few months ago and soon noticed a sewer gas odor. The odor was hard to pinpoint and would come and go. Over roughly a month, we literally called 4 different plumbing companies to come investigate. Every single company shrugged their shoulders and said they couldn't figure it out.
We eventually called Goode Plumbing and they were the first and only company that was truly invested in solving the problem for us. They quickly sent multiple plumbers to our house to investigate. Alex was the first to come by to investigate and was extremely empathic about our problem. He really listened and communicated Goode's commitment to fixing the issue. Drew came by next, and did extensive testing to examine our sewer system. He was thorough, really interested in the case, and went above and beyond doing a series of tests (including camera and smoke tests) to find a solution.
Finally, Drew called in Brian who is the ""Yoda"" of Goode Plumbing. Brian has extensive experience over many decades, has a surgical precision to his craft, and really does methodically examine all possibilities until he reaches a diagnosis. A number of tests and a few open walls later, he found the problem!!! We had a wide open pipe coming up from our main drain line behind the wall in our mechanical room (pictured) and also a screw that was drilled right through the PVC piping.
It has now been a week since Brian fixed this problem for us and our home smells so nice and fresh and clean. I also had nasal congestion for over a month that is now magically cleared up.
Goode plumbing was an absolute LIFESAVER and they will have our endless thanks and patronage.
