I wanted to replace a 75g tank hot water heater around October. I found Goodco in State College did tankless and they referred me to Bovard (their partner company). They installed a tankless unit they said would work for my house. It never did work right. I would get low flow. The heat wouldn't turn on randomly. And over the next 4 months I experienced problems, which they couldn't resolve. Today (end of January) I am told my incoming water is too cold for the unit to handle and I have to live with it. Or they can put, in essence, an electric blanket over the 15' incoming pipe in hopes that it heats the water before it goes to the hot water heater. This is not ok. They said if I want it replaced with a tank I would need to pay another $3500, making the grand total to replace my old tank to around $9000. Please do yourself a favor and find anyone else in the tri state area to help you. It seems like you won't get help here.
We are so happy with the service from the Good Co Mechanical Co. First, I talked to the woman who answers the phone to schedule she was so helpful, and had great customer service skills. We had to cancel our first appointment scheduled for June 27th in the afternoon. When I called again so nice, she said she would have Jeff the manager call me back to rescheduled. Jeff returned my call quickly, and was so nice, and he got us rescheduled for June 28th in the afternoon. From start to finish wonderful customer service. Now for the technician Colin, he was professional, pleasant, and explained what he needed to do so our conditioners would work better. The one up stairs was in need of service badly & he showed me
and explained to me what he needed to do. He told me the down stairs unit wasn't nearly as bad as the unit up stairs. He told yearly maintenance is important and why. Colin worked the entire two hours non stop. He asked if I had any questions, being an older customer I had him explain a couple things I didn't remember about operating the units. Colin was very patient
with me.
i would never recommend this company. they are rip-offs. air conditioner stopped working on a Sunday. They charged double the price of a weekday service call. Instead of $95. it was $200. Then the guy arrived. he spends almost 3 hours here and does not fix the air conditioner. Said there was a refrigerant leak, put dye in, and said to run the unit at 72. we paid over $500 for this nonsense. The unit never turned on after he left. It's now 79 in my house. calling this guy was a waste of time and money. don't use Goodco!
Goodco lost a regular customer over $186 this week, which is what they charged me to service a furnace that THEY installed less than 2 years ago and that THEY inspected and gave a clean bill of health to less than 3 months ago. They blamed a loose fitting causing the gas line to leak on us somehow bumping into the furnace too much (furnace is in a far corner of an unfinished basement). The service manager, who lied to us about returning our calls, made the usual noise about how the furnace was no longer under warranty, the excuse of cowards who can't justify their shoddy work.
I used to recommend Goodco to friends and newcomers to the area, but will no longer be doing that or using them myself.
Technician was pleasant, but unable to clear the drain because he told me he didn't have the proper equipment. Wish he had told me that before he started. He tried his snake twice, but failed to properly flush the drain after the snaking. His snake tore up the floor of the cabinet and his plunging separated the sink from the countertop. Failed to do the job and what he did cause more damage than help. It cost me $260 for nothing. Had to spend another $200 to get it done right, plus what ever it cost to fix the cabinet and sink/countertop. Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. No wonder the owner is under investigation for fraud.
Incredibly disappointed with this company after being a customer for approximately 10 years for both my residence and commercial location. Had new heat pump and air handler installed at the office about 10 days ago. It leaked and ruined my ceilings. The guys also broke my light fixture, left a couple stains on the carpet and on the walls. I left messages about the problems, and they never called back. I had to make multiple calls before I could talk to someone. The first visit to deal with the problem, I was told the new cabinet hadn't been screwed on correctly. The second visit I was told a pipe was installed incorrectly. still the unit leaked from the ceiling. The only way I could get help was to talk to the owner. Thankfully, he did listen and help. Apparently, there was a measuring error and the first unit didn't fit correctly. This unit was removed and a second unit was put in place. Now, the second unit doesn't seem to be cooling correctly. I called the office again and I am put into the queue with all of the other service calls. I also can't get anyone to follow up with me about the damaged ceiling and light...I ordinarily would not leave a bad review if a company is willing to deal with the issue and fix the problem, but I am fed up with calling in and being treated like I'm an annoyance.
John L.My parents added a granite countertop and new sinks which did not line up withe the old sink. We called Goodco and the next day a gentleman named Mike arrived and within an hour neatly, proficiently and professionally reworked the pipes, installed the new hardware, connected the garbage disposal and provided sound advice. They should be the plumber for the entire Village at PS. The price was very reasonable. We will be calling Mike soon to install a new water heater. Very honest and more than reliable.
Brenda A.Calling to get info for heating & made me feel like I was stupid! The card I was going to use, they said the card was not real!?! Really?? Wells Fargo hmmm ignorant is what the guy was..laughing at me! Take your business elsewhere. These guys are just plain rude....
great company, completely trustworthy, customer service number one priority
Nicholas M.I was very disappointed in the service of this company from beginning to end. I would never recommend or use this company for anything again. My heating system wasn't installed properly and took months to get it corrected. I can only hope it's working correctly now. Save yourself the hassle and shop around.
