Cristin S.After a bad experience with another local plumber, I sought out Good Plumbing to install some tricky shut-off valves for me (yes, tricky, you should see the old house I bought). Everything about this experience was light years better than my experience with the other local plumber. Starting with scheduling, I spoke with Rachel on the phone who was very courteous and very accommodating. She asked many questions about what I needed done, and gathered as much information as she could so that the technician would arrive prepared. She even asked that I take pictures of the places I needed the valves installed, and text them to one of the company numbers. I did just that. Shortly after receiving the photos, I was texted back (by whom, I am not sure, possibly Rachel, possibly the business owner) and asked more questions. We ended up swapping my afternoon appointment time to a morning appointment to ensure that the technician had enough time to complete the job. I felt that they did an excellent job of making sure they had enough information to ensure that the job would go smoothly and quickly, which means they weren't only after me for my bucks. The plumber arrived on time, and completed the job quicker than I thought he would. He had to cut into our ceiling and cut in the right spot the first time (yay!) after running up and down the stairs and taking several measurements. He told us they don't put it all back together, but that's no issue, as thankfully I have a handy husband - but something for others to be forewarned about. I think there was only one piece that he needed that he didn't have, and he called the shop for it, and he was able to work on something else while he waited for it to be brought to him.
The only thing that knocks this star rating down for me, is that even though I felt I had a thorough conversation on the phone with Rachel during scheduling, she did mention that they bill at an hourly rate, and they bill out, so I would not be expected to pay the plumber on the day of service. This was fine with me - until I got the bill - and discover they also charge for materials. Now, this is probably just my total ignorance as a homeowner, as a woman, as someone who works in IT and not in the trades, etc - maybe everyone else in the world knows that something like this would be billed hourly + materials, but I did not know, so when I got the bill and it was more than what I expected, it was a bit of a shock. The bill wasn't extraordinary or anything, but it was more than the hourly rate x 5hrs that I was expecting. I think it would be nice if, at the same time they mention that they bill at an hourly rate and bill out, they could also mention that you will be billed for materials too. Regardless, this will not deter me from contacting Good Plumbing again for work in the future. The guy did an awesome job, and I was extremely pleased with the service and handiwork.
Rick and Steve of GOOD Plumbing did the greatest job on the removal of all the old iron soil drains and the installation of new plastic sewer drains in my row home. It was a big job. The quality of the job done was excellent, like a work of art. I find Good Plumbing and Heating and Air Conditioning to be the best. They also put in my new furnace which was another excellent job. And their charge rates are very reasonable indeed! I highly recommend GOOD Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning. If you want Fast Response. Quality Workmanship, and Reasonable Costs, go with them!
We called Good for a second opinion after Horizon told us our gas furnace was hazardous and needed to be completely replaced. The technician from Good showed up promptly and was very polite and courteous. He quickly found the issue, fixed it, and saved us thousands of dollars. Very happy with the service!
Another great experience with this company; this time fixing my AC heat pump. Other companies have been out to inspect my problematic heat pump with no success. Jeff from Good Plumbing recognized the symptoms that I described and quickly found the defective part. Heat pump is now running perfectly. Thanks Jeff! I also feel that the price I paid for this fix was reasonable.
Karen B.Last summer I started to research converting from oil heat to gas heat. I met with a couple other Local heater contractors and was very disappointed in their attitude, service and especially their pricing. One contractor, IT Landis, would only come to my house during hours that were convenient for him, mostly Monday - Thrus. from 9 to 3; a time when most people are working. I asked about an earlier appointment preferably 8:00 A.M. so that I would only be a little late for work but he would not compromise. Nor would he come at the end of the day, say around 4:00 or 4:30. Sorry, but I'm not taking several hours off from work (with no pay) to give a contractor the opportunity to make a $10,000 sale. oh, and BTW, I was already a long-time IT Landis client.... for about 10 years! Not only did they over charge for all their services, but when you have an emergency when the office is closed, they really hit you where it hurts. You may have a yearly service contract, but if the part that is broken is NOT covered under that contract they have no problem charging you $100/hr for service. My last bill with IT Landis was over $600. I did my best and made monthly payments but one month I missed a payment and they had the nerve to send me a Collection Notice stamped in red! This is what being a loyal client means to IT Landis!!! Miss one $50.00 payment and they start to threaten you!!!! Over $50.00!
Another contractor, Moyer, agreed to meet at a better time, but the salesman was cocky, arrogant and flat-out refused to give me a written quote. He took no measurements and verbally gave me a ballpark quote of $8,000 to $11,000 for a new heater and hot water heater. When I asked for a written quote he told me it wasn't worth his time to give me one!!! He also refused to give me specifications on the new boilers he was recommending. Verbally told me to write down some model numbers and to look them up on line myself. Insulted, I complained to his manager who was just as much of a idiot! He didn't even try to salvage the sale, made some lame excuses for his salesman who turned out to be a friend he went to elementary school together! Seriously? Why have a sales department who is too freaking lazy to do actual sales? No written estimate? No specifications? No product literature? All sums to a big NO SALE to me. Especially when I have to get a loan to pay for a $11K heater and hot water heater.
A friend suggested I call Good Plumbing Inc. in Hatfield, PA. I was very surprised when they agreed to meet me at 5:00 pm. He looked at my oil boiler, wrote down a few numbers and suggested I just convert the oil burner to a gas burner and save $$$$. He said my 13 year-old boiler was still in very good condition and there was no reason to replace it. A couple days later I received a written quote via email for under $2,300. I couldn't believe it! After giving them a deposit, the install was very smooth, efficient and professional. My new gas burner is working perfectly and I've saved hundred of dollars using natural gas as a fuel source! I even received a $200 PECO rebate! Good Plumbing even removed my old oil tank for me! I opted to not install a new hot water heater at this time but when I am ready, I plan on calling Good Plumbing to help me again.
Never again will I put up with the arrogant ""high profile""heater contractor.
Good Plumbing, Heating & A/C Inc. is the best! I would highly recommend them to anyone!
I have used this company for plumbing and HVAC in four homes since 1987. While ownership changed when the founder retired (I believe), the quality of service remains outstanding. The workers are professional, knowlegeable, very nice and the kind of people I am comfortable to have in my home. I have learned a few times that they could have offered more expensive remedies and been technically correct, but they offer what will work, but will be cost efficient. I have no connection to or financial interest in the is review. They simply are the best!
P S.Called several plumbing companies and these guys were the cheapest. I mean cheapest by hundreds of dollars. I called after deciding to go with Good and they came out the same day to install a warranty water heater for us. The estimate time I got was 3 hrs. it took them a little over 1 hr!!! The gentlemen who came were friendly, and courteous. When they left, I honestly couldn't even tell they were in my basement, that's how clean they left everything. Any future plumbing needs I will call these guys. Fantastic!
Bryan B.I needed to get a sewer line replaced under a concrete slab, out of the four companies I called:
1st wouldn't even do it
2nd couldn't give me a price until they opened up the area
Good Plumbing came right in and knew what was wrong and what needed to be done and gave me an estimate the next day.
4th company gave me an estimate range, which was thousands over Good's estimate.
It was scheduled to take 3days, but because of some other work that was being done in the work area, at the end of the 2nd day I asked if they could finish at another time. I felt guilty, but they worked with me even though it was a last minute request. Once I got the other work completed, they came back, finished the work and it all looks great.
The two workers John and Chuck did a quality job and were very courteous to myself and my wife. Everything was fixed and they even cleaned everything up, so there was no mess at the end.
I will be using them again in the future for any additional plumbing work I may have.
El G.Be careful with Good Plumbings low prices they charge by the hour per person, have bad quality of work, has a limited 30 day warranty on labor and my customer service experience was horrible. I called around for service when my hot water tank went dead. It was under warranty for parts only so I knew I had to pay for labor. Moyer quoted a price higher than Good Plumbing who said those guys are expensive. I told them Moyer diagnosed the issue as the gas valve so Good Plumbing brought the part to install. Once they got here they asked for the Moyer paperwork but didn't diagnose the job for themselves. After a few minutes the contractor didn't think the gas valve was the issue but continued as instructed by the office. After an hour of installing this valve the tank started to leak (it was not leaking before. Another 1.5 hours later the new gas valve is installed but the tank is leaking so a call was made to the office who I will admit came quickly with a new tank to replace which took another person and another couple of hours. The bill comes for over $500 and I was shocked and called to review the additional charges. I was charged the hourly rate times two while the second person was there another 2.5 hours while the first person installed the part that didn't address the issue making the tank leak and for parts/materials less the tank. After going back and forth we settled for the cost for two people to replace the tank , and an hour of the first time trying to install the valve. I was re-invoiced and paid on time. A few days later the new tank starts to leak! I called and they came and stopped the leak. Today (5 months later) no hot water. I called and was told I had a flag on my account for an ""issue with payment"" and they will call me back after talking to a manager before we service the previous work. They never called back so I called and was told the manager was out until Wednesday (2 days later) and that they can't do anything until then. I thought this was absurd and asked for someone higher in which the owner was in a meeting but called back. I asked the owner, ""why was my account flagged when I paid the final invoice given"", he wasn't sure but told me their labor is only warrantied for 30 days and that they would charge to come out at this point anyway. I was OK with this and asked what was the manager (who was out until Wed) going to decide if I was already past the labor warranty. He basically said they can decide if they want to do business with me or not since I didn't pay the original invoice amount. I told the owner a brief summary of what happened to have my account cleared prior to service and suggested he call the manager involved to confirm. I received a voicemail from the owner saying I didn't tell the full story and they will not do business with me. After wasting 6 hours with Good Plumbing, I called around for service and was able to troubleshoot by phone to get the hot water tank to work(it was the pilot). Again, be careful with Good Plumbings up front low price sales tactics, you get what you think you are paying for.
Michael O.For a large group, these guys are very good. I've had a few different guys do work for me - installing sinks, b/u sump pump, etc, and they all have done good work. Their price is very reasonable, and they are professional and honest.
