OK, while I'm writing Yelp reviews tonight, I really need to give Frank an overdue 5-star rating. You never really appreciate a true professional until you've had to deal with a total hack, which I've done. (I am through with home warranty programs that don't give you any say in who provides your service!) I had my house go cold on one of our sub-zero mornings, and after a guy who we used and liked before said he was booked solid for the day, I found Frank on Yelp. He came over within a couple of hours and pinpointed the problem.

A couple of weeks later, I noticed a persistent leak from the boiler. Again, I called Frank, and he came by a couple of days later since it was not an emergency. He fixed the issue and was not going to charge me, but I insisted on paying him at least a service fee.

Frank is friendly, knowledgeable, fair and responsive. When you call him, you're getting his direct line. I wish I had hired him to install our boiler and central AC instead of the guy I gave 2 stars to. I highly recommend him and will probably have him come back to fix some of the shoddy work that was done previously.

Frank was excellent. Had an issue with HVAC system in South Boston. Came over the next day and fixed everything within a hour. Very reasonably priced... He even came back with a spare part that our system required before the end of the day, FREE OF CHARGE. I would highly recommend him!

""Can't show up because it's in Cambridge?"" Is that too far? What gives? I'm going to give this business the benefit of the doubt, but it sounds odd that servicing a client for an estimate the next city over constitutes a problem.
0 stars or LOWER, for now. Hope you do good work, where ever you DO service.

I have owned my condo for a little over 2 years and both the summers I've spent here, I have had issues with my central AC. I have had 4 or 5 different companies come out to look at the system and my experience has ranged from them telling me I just need to change the filter (which I do on a regular basis) to telling me I have to replace my entire system (involving a crane and closing down my entire street with police detail for a whole day). I finally called Frank at Gomes Plumbing and Heating and we set up an appointment for the very next day to come out and look at the system. He was able to find the issue in very little time and charged me a fraction of what the others had been trying to charge me. I was so pleased with the work he did and the service I got that I've told all of my friends who are home/condo owners in the area to call Frank!

A few months after Frank fixed my AC (which is working wonderfully now!) my garbage disposal broke. Again, Frank was able to come over to fix it the very next day. I would recommend Gomes Plumbing and Heating to absolutely everyone and plan to use Frank for ALL of my plumbing/cooling/heating needs in the future.

I was getting a new stove delivered & needed the gas shut off on Friday & new stove delivered on Sat. My regular plumber did not get back to me. I saw the great reviews about Gomes plumbing & decided to call him on Fri around 9am. Frank answers the phone right away. I told him my situation & he agreed to come over & help me. My old stove has not been moved in over 25years! It was extremely difficult to move. Frank kept at it for me until he could finally move it! About a half hour or move. Frank found the pipe leading to the stove was lying on the ground. He used his great skills & imagination to figure out how to add a new line & a turn off valve! I was very impressed & very happy! The new stove arrived & Frank came back on Sat to hook it up. He also hooked up our new hood for our new stove. And that was also challenging removing the old one! Yuck.
Frank was awesome! Very calm & personable. I cannot say enough about how much I appreciated his skills!

Frank Gomes is the best plumber around and I am so lucky to know him!!! When we called him first thing in the morning (not knowing what our problem exactly was), he did not even hesitate but came by our house in 20 minutes. Since our building is not constructed very well(we happen to have alot of issues in general), he pin-pointed our problem right away(we had a water leak coming from the dish waher: it wasn't the dishwasher nor the garbage disposal that had a problem but it was a plumbing direction issue). He has fixed the problem afterwards and pretty much told us that we don't owe him anything for today. I couldn't believe how he was like ""don't worry about it. we are neighbors!"" He is such a kind man and such a rare find in such society that we live in. We of course tipped him at least because we don't believe in having him leave without any pay. He also works on weekends as well and very friendly. I will not call anyone else for plumbing issue!!!!!

I called Frank to replace a hot water tank on my triple decker home, he told me he will be at my house in 20 minutes to replace it. Frank was here on time and swapped out the tank for a new one. Frank even went out of his way to fix some other issues i had from a different plumbers mickey mouse work. He is very professional and will always call him back for any plumbing work i have in the future. I highly recommend him. Thanks again Frank.

Frank and Manny were just the plumbers we were looking for. We needed a new shower faucet installed, and he was at our house within 2 hours on a Saturday. He explained the options clearly, and his prices were fair and much better than some other quotes we had received over the phone. He had the whole job done in 2 hours. He even offered to come back and install new trim. Guys like this are the reason I use Yelp - would highly recommend.

Our first floor heat (forced hot water) was not getting above 60 degrees. We called Frank in the morning and he and Manny were at our house by 5:30 pm that day. He did not charge a fee to look at our problem (the other plumbers were used in the past charged $50 or more just to come out). He checked the returns on our boiler and it was running hot, but he could tell that the baseboards were not as hot as they should be. He changed out the old thermostat for a digital one. The first floor is now heating correctly. His price was relatively fair and he did not charge an after hours fee (although it was after 5 pm). We also appreciated using a locally owned (Dorchester) small business.
