We've used GW for several years now, and something has changed. This is not a negative on the people who answer he phones or the technicians (because I've always found both to be great). The issue is that their prices seem to have skyrocketed in the past few years. I've had similar repairs done for half the price. Moving on....

The girls answering the phones were really nice. The tech clearing my line fixed the problem in 30 minutes, but It took him just as much time to write the invoice. If you enjoy paying $469 to clear your line, call this company. They don't return phone calls, another bonus.

BUYER BEWARE!!! They pulled a bait and switch on me. I called in January with a backed up drain in my basement. I was told that they could have a technician there that day between 3-5 and it would be an $80 charge. I specifically asked if that included the drain cleanout and was told that it would. The plumber did not show up until 6:00 that night and then tried to charge me an after hours trip fee. I had to argue my way out of that.

Then he started going over pricing for the service. The amount he told me was $400 for him to clean out and inspect the drain. I asked what happened to the $80 price I was quoted and he had no idea but would ""follow up on it"". Unfortunately, I needed to bathe my children so I had to pay up for him to do the cleanout. He said that he is not supposed to start work when a customer is unhappy from the beginning. I told him that I would be a lot more unhappy if he left and the problem wasn't fixed. He snaked the drain and said that it should be all set. I did receive a call from him a little over a week later (after I followed up TWICE with him) and they said that the operator did not quote an $80 price. I was told I had to talk to a manager to hear the recording...but I never got anywhere with that.

Follow up - my drain is now clogged again and we were told that they would charge us again since it is out of 90 days from the original service.

The whole ordeal has felt shady from the start and has not left a good taste in my mouth. To quote one price over the phone and then try to charge that plus 5x the quoted price is absurd. I would never recommend this company and think that people should know the tricks these guys are playing. As I stated before, BUYER BEWARE!!!

My sewer backed up and I was so upset. I called Golden West and their dispatch was very kind and quick to get their sewer specialist out to my home. The plumber, Rick, was very knowledgeable and put me at ease. Unfortunately, my sewer needed replaced, however, they were quick and left a very small foot print on my property. I will continue to call Golden West for any future plumbing or heating issues.

These guys are great! Pablo Ramirez Luna is an expert. He ran a performance inspection on my new furnace, and was so diligent. He walked me through all the important checks and made it easy to understand. Thanks for educating and helping me keep my furnace in tip top shape.

I too was quoted significantly higher than I was charged by another company!! They refused to discuss the breakdown of prices for parts and labor stating that they were not allowed. I was quoted $980 to replace an ac condenser fan motor. The fan motor itself is only $160. When having someone else come out, they actually needed to replace not only the fan motor but also the capacitor and were able to do it for only $480!! Do not use this company!

I will add my voice to that of others who have commented on the crazy prices this company charges. Called them to install a 8 ft section of gas line that had been disconnected by a previous owner. (this line was a terminal branch to a gas dryer) Was given a same day appt, but no one showed up. Eventually was rescheduled for the next day. Plumber was late but very knowledgeable, courteous. Nonetheless quoted exorbitant price of $748 for this job. Again, was told that there was no breakdown for labor, parts, etc, just a flat rate quote for the job. When I declined to proceed, he did waive the service call fee. The parts for this job cost under $30, and it would have taken 1-2 hrs. While I respect the training needed to work on natural gas systems, it does not justify labor rates in excess of $300/hr!

Why do I always call these folks when I need plumbing help? Because they are prompt, reasonably priced, and get the job done! I live in San DIego, and have asked Golden West to service my son's college home on a couple of occasions. They are a pleasure to deal with, and my remoteness did not present a problem.

I am very unhappy from my recent experience with Golden West Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning. Briefly, I was promised a new water heater at 1:30 pm, July 3. They showed up at 6:30 with one plumber and one assistant. The retail value of the heater and parts is about $770. I was charged $2,942. As it was very late and Friday before the Independence Day weekend, I told them to go ahead figuring I could call the company the next week and rectify the situation. They knocked $553 from the bill, thus I paid $2,389 minus the $770 equals $1,619 for 6 hours of labor or $269.83 per hour.

I had called them for an emergency plumbing issue at our home on May 10, 2015. Our guest bathroom toilet flush bolts were rusted and loose and water was leaking through it down and floor and through the ceiling in the kitchen below. We shut off water to that bathroom until plumbers came in the next morning. Chris and his team was over at my house the next morning to look into the plumbing issue. They identified that the issue could be due to the old seal ring and removed and reseated the toilet with new seal ring. They then noticed that it was leaking through the rusted bolts in flush and replaced those as well.

All in all great service, he explained everything and fixed the issue. I gave them 4 stars because they were extremely expensive. They pricing sheet was so exorbitant that comparing to some other service out on Yelp with 5 rating it was the most highly priced.

Chris however extended his service by not charging for the removing & putting in new bolts (which per his pricing sheet was around $200.00).
