For the past couple of days, our garbage disposal has not been functioning. There seemed to be a clog, as the drain was very slow and every time the dishwasher ran, it was backing up into the sink. There also seemed to be water in the unit that houses the switch that wasn't a new development - but I wondered if it was related.

Yesterday, I arranged for Golden State Plumbing to come out in the afternoon and take a look to give me an estimate, the first of a few I had scheduled. I had already run two courses of unclogging solution with little to show for it.

Edwin arrived early (5pm for a 530-630 arrival) and went to look at the unit. When I got downstairs a few minutes later, it seemed like he had already ascertained the problem. He gave me two prices: $180 (I think this was to clear the clog and possibly something else) or $320 to replace the entire thing, including the switch.

I mention this first estimate to my husband. I should mention that my husband works in tech and does not significant experience with plumbing. He decided to try a YouTube fix it trick, which involved a hex wrench and the reset button on the garbage disposal.

It turned out that one of our toddler's forks had fallen down into the unit, compromising its functions. (To clarify in response to the owner's comment: the fork was across the opening, therefore preventing food from passing through. This should have been easily noticed by a professional.) He pulled it out, and got the disposal to start working right away. IT WORKS JUST FINE, and needed neither replacement nor unclogging.

This makes me wonder why the technician who was sent out to my house did not observe this. Was he inexperienced? Incompetent? Or was this a deliberate attempt to gouge money for services not needed?

I can only say that I wouldn't trust using this company again.

I am so glad I call these guys. They came out the same day and fix the problem. Even had to go out and get replacement parts and showed me how to prevent the problem in the future and did not charge me extra! Another plumbing company was going to charge me MORE THAN DOUBLE! So needless to say I appreciate the honest and good work and will definitely refer these guys to family and friends.

David and his crew are rock star heroes at our house! Last week we had a backup in both bathroom showers and toilets--small freak out ensues. Hugo of Diamond Plumbing and Rooter came out and quickly assessed the issues. Unfortunately some of his equipment was unavailable so he kindly connected us with David of Golden State Plumbing in Antioch who came out with his crew, reviewed the issues, negotiated a very fair price for the project and immediately got to work with his amazing crew. A few hours later, all was well in our home and wallets. They explained all issues to me, were fast, polite, cleaned up afterward and were very reasonably priced for all of California let alone the East Bay. Cannot say enough nice things about Golden State.

I called Golden State Plumbing Sunday morning and he arrived within 20 minutes to provide my husband and I an estimate for a water heater replacement. He was able to complete the replacement that same day which was awesome since we didn't realize our water heater had leaked for about 7 days straight and didn't want to delay the repairs any longer. He left and returned within 30 minutes with a new water heater and an additional member of his team who would actually do the job. Overall the service was excellent and we wouldn't hesitate to call again if needed.

Before I begin I like to say Hugo and his plumbing firm are superb and I absolutely recommend them over any of the larger and smaller firms you could call. 24/7 respectful, prompt, and polite service.

I own several buildings and have made several service calls for plumbing to some of the big name firms you can all imagine including the largest one that I don't need to even name. They are clueless.

I had a hot water issue at an apartment complex where I called 4 different firms including the largest one and they all told me something different that needed to be replaced on the water heater unit and to no success. They were all wrong and I continued to not have consistent hot water.

I called Hugo out of desperation one night and within minutes he determined that the water heater was not the issue and it was other factors. Within minutes! No one was as quick and sharp as this firm and he was able to determine the external problem and began working on the job immediately in the middle of the night and got the hot water restored to all my tenants. I was shocked.

I cannot recommend Golden State Plumbing enough for not only their knowledge and accuracy, but their promptness and professionalism. I'm never calling another plumbing company again for my building needs!

Sunday night around 9pm, during a stormy weekend, the shower would not turn off. After calling 10-15 plumbers to see if anyone could come by the same night, Hugo picked up the phone. Explained the situation to him. He told me he may have a dispatcher available. Called me back in less than 2 minutes and said David would be at our place in less than an hour. Without much wait David arrived. He fixed our problem in 30-45 min. It was pricey, but given that it was so last minute, it was okay. I guess our cartridge was pretty old and pieces actually broke within the system. David had to finagle the lodge piece out. Thank you David and Hugo for being able to repair our problem in less than 2 hours notice!

Called Golden State Plumbing to clean out the main sewer line from my house. Hugo and his partner were available and came right away. They unclogged the line for a reasonable price. I will be calling them again.
