Hank and Winter are the best! They are the sub-contractors on our kitchen remodel job and have been efficient and perfect in all aspects.
We discoverd (unrelated to kitchen) that we were fast the death-bell on our 16 year old water heater. Hank came out today to install our new grand tankless heater. He did a great job at a fair price. And he took extra time to explain a lot of little details about how it worked etc as I asked questions.
I would highly recommend them for any job large or small!

Hank from Golden State Plumbing was called in to do a huge job in our HOA last summer and not only solved our water issue, but was here for days constructing an intricate system so that if we ever should have another leak, it would be easy to get to. This job saved our HOA thousands of dollars, and he is now our go-to plumber for all of our HOA needs.
So of course, when my toilet began to run and leak water, he was the first person I called. Hank arrived on time, and took care of the problem quickly and efficiently. I would not hesitate to recommend Golden State Plumbing to anyone.
Thanks Hank!!

Hank installed a tankless hot water heater, telling me it would last a very long time, save me money etc and charged me alot, saying it wouldn't need to be replaced. Since then I have had two professionals look at what was done (due to the fact that it stopped functioning properly) and tell me it is the worst installation they have ever seen, pointing out multiple aspects that were not done up to code and are now dangerous. I have to have everything done correctly and probably replace the one he put in due to the damage his sloppy installation caused. He also installed flooring and left a mess in the yard, damaged the lawn, installed a water filter but never returned my calls when I started having trouble with it and I have also been told that the flooring was installed in an unprofessional way, leaving bumpy surfaces on certain areas. Hank seemed like such a nice guy but I now believe he is dishonest, unethical and sloppy.

I've used Hank's plumbing company now twice for two major projects. A complete kitchen and bathroom remodel. In both instances I simply cannot faulty Hank's customer service, attention to detail, honesty, time keeping, or quality of service. With the most recent project, the bathroom, we ran into a number of issues with other providers and in every case Hank took care of everything. A perfect example was that the bath that we had ordered before contracting with Hank arrive damaged, this would have put the job back weeks, but Hank stepped in and quickly found a replacement model available locally which he personally collected. Hank kept me totally informed and would text or call me regularly with updates. I have already recommended him to friends and family and everything has been extremely satisfied with his services.

We used Golden State plumbing at Bike Monkey when we moved into our new location at Railroad Square. These guys provide such a great level of service that I couldn't imagine using anyone else.
If you're looking for someone who really cares about the product that they're delivering, look no further.

This review is long over due, and I am still angry that I had to pay another to fix the problems Winter created. Let me explain. Back in November, I accepted Winter's bid to install 7 brand new faucets, and several other plumbing installations on my major remodel. I asked that the work be completed before Christmas. He re-scheduled my work numerous times to fit in between other jobs, that it was down to the last minute before all my family were to arrive for the holidays. When he did perform the work, there were so many mistakes, it would take a page to list them all. I had to call in another plumber-contractor on New Years Eve to fix the leaking toilets, and we had bowls under every faucet because he used the cheapest screw on fittings which he never tightened. The dishwasher overflowed because he didn't remove the tab and the water line was kinked. My house plumbing was a disaster. He refused to come back and fix his mistakes. I spoke with his father, the owner and he hung up on me, saying this was ""side work"" and he wasn't responsible. Beware!

This is a plumber that works on the week ends if you need him. Why does that always seem to be the case. Anyway, best guy ever, very clean, very professional and competent.

This is a review that should have been written about 9 months ago. Seeing 4 5-star reviews just makes me MAD. Hank cannot be trusted to provide quality work.
When we went to have the water turned back on at a house we bought in Guerneville, the water company said there was a leak and that the water couldn't be turned back on until it was fixed. So we needed to have a new line from the water main installed, put in a shut off valve, and add a hose bib. Should be no problem for a licenced plumber.
Hank from Golden State was one of the 2 plumbers who called us back and he came over right away to give us a quote. We set up a time by which he would get it done and his son came out to do the work when Hank said he would. He completed the work by the time he would and the water company was able to turn the water back on as planned. Hank saw the work his son had done. And at the suggestion of our plumber, we asked about the use of Pex flexible pipe instead of hard pipe. He defended it's use. This was the first sign that something wasn't quite right about his work.
When our plumber made it up here from San Jose to do other work, it turned out that the work Hank's son did, and Hank seemed to approve of, was a complete DISASTER! It was clearly done by people who didn't know what they were doing. In addition to not knowing that a main line should never be done with Pex. Or that it should be 3/4 inch instead of 1/2 inch! He apparently didn't know that you can't sweat copper to galvanized pipe. Or that the minimum number, or at a small of joints, is best. The photos make this plain to see.
The only good thing was that after his 'work' we could flush the toilets and wash our hands. But we had to have everything Golden State Plumbing did ripped out and REDONE. A huge waste of money. And get this, we had it redone for just a bit over half the price! Apparently, in addition to pawning off someone to do the work who clearly not up to the job and then not making sure it had been done correctly, Hank took advantage of the fact we were under a time crunch and couldn't do much at the house until the water was turned on.
Stay away from this firm! Yes, it's hard to find plumbers to come out to Guerneville, but don't go with this guy just because he shows up.

I talked to Hank a week before we were going to be at our river vacation house to set up a time to meet about putting in a tankless water heater. I had to leave home early in order to be there on time.
The time came and went. Another hour past. A bit latter I called Hank. He answered and said ""oh ya Monte Rio right?"" then he hem hawed a little and said ""well I hate to turn down work, but we are busy enough that I don't think we will be able to help you out with that"". When I said I would have appreciated him saying that last week so I could have set up someone else to come out since he knew I had limited time he said, ""Okay, talk to you later"" and hung up.

A small update to my 3-year-old review. I've had a couple of plumbing issues in the time since the original review and each time I've called Hank. Same super-competent, friendly, timely response and work. I would give him a sixth star if I could.
Original review
Less than a week after I bought a property in Forestville, the water heater failed. I found from the previous owner's records that this was the 2nd water heater to fail within 7 years. The first time there had been significant damage to the house. This time, thank goodness, the leak was caught before any harm was done. I called Hank based on his reviews on Yelp and also because he is local to Forestville. He was out the next morning. Not only did he replace the water heater, he replaced it in such a way that even if (when?) the water heater fails in the future it won't damage the house. It was a very creative solution and Hank charged a fair price. Guess who I'll call the next time I need a plumber.
