I would not use Gold Standard Plumbing & Drain unless you get a written quotation from Rich the owner. I was quoted $94.00 per hour by Rich and two guys showed up, and I was charged for both at $188.00 per hour. I WAS NOT quoted ""man hours"" but $94.00 per hour. I was quoted $75.00 per hour by someone else we used before but he was unavailable and they stated it would have taken 2.5 hours. When I told Gold Standard this the OWNER AGREED that he had quoted me $94.00 per hour and said, ""well you should have used them then."" These charges to me are unethical and unprofessional and should not be tolerated. If I had been quoted $188.00 per hour I WOULD HAVE USED someone else and there are plenty of options that are more credible to draw from. It is not the money .... it is not being up front and honest about the charges and sticking to an agreement.

Mike came out and did the work. He was awesome. They came out to fix a problem that another plumber (Ace plumbing) turned down because he couldnt do it. They answered my call quickly, showed up on time, and were very polite. I'll use them in the future for any plumbing needs.

These guys are great. There was a new problem in our area with circulating pumps cavitating (these circulate hot water through the pipes so you get warm water quickly in the farthest region of the house). The cause of course was NID letting air into the water lines which came into the house. With this being only the second complaint ever, we went about solving the problem together. The answer is an air escape valve installed in the pipe. Less than an hour to install. It turned out that the pipe needed a fat section to help exit the air, and Gold Standard came out and installed it. This time it took two hours, and they didn't charge me.

I just had my fourth visit from Gold Standard Plumbing. Each trip has been a good experience. I live in an old mobile home in a rural area. ""Stuff"" happens. Each time, they have come out quickly, were friendly and knowledgeable and their prices are reasonable! Bruce especially impressed me with his knowledge and customer service. He actually researched the type of valve I would need in the future in my shower and had it when he came the next time! This is customer service to the max in my book!!

This past month, I had Gold Standard Plumbing install a new water service main to our residence in rural Nevada County. As a retired civil engineer with a background in irrigation systems, I can appreciate correct installation procedures and quality workmanship for such a project. I found Rich to be an excellent communicator, and during our discussion on the scope of the project I especially appreciated his suggested layout. Rich and Mike used high-quality materials, good excavating equipment, and they went beyond code requirements to obtain a high quality outcome. They proceeded in an efficient manner, and they did a very nice job in tidying up the landscape upon completion. It was appreciated how Rich took the time to respond to various enquires and had general concern about the water system working properly. He also took the time to explain how to restart the various appliances, after the water had been off for a couple days. Overall, I was very pleased with this company and highly recommend them.

Wow! A pipe broke in our cement basement on Friday night, late. Turned off the water to the house and went to bed.

Called Gold Standard early Saturday morning and they came out and fixed it. $107. Great deal and Bruce was the best.

I will certainly be calling them for my future plumbing needs. Thanks!

I am visiting my mother in grass valley for the weekend and it is the Saturday evening before Easter Sunday. My mother and I had just had a beautiful day out in Nevada City to come home to a water pipe outside the garage gushing water out into the yard. We were without a meter key and all of our efforts to shut down the main water line had failed. Needless to say my mother imagined that it would be a nightmare to try to get a plumber out on Easter weekend and that the worst case scenario was inevitable.
My mother took to the phone books and I came here to Yelp to find some one, anyone that could help. Gold Standard was at the top of the list and I was soon to find out exactly why.
I called and right away Rich answered the phone, I was already impressed since it was dinner time on a Saturday. Rich was understanding and courteous in listening to our dilemma and was confident that the problem could be solved. He then promptly gave me the number to his partner who was on call for the holiday weekend. I called Bruce, explained the situation and he said he would be here in 20 minutes. In 15 minutes Bruce was here, the water main was shut off and he was at work on the the pipe. He is very personable and explained exactly what had caused the leak and also explained what he was going to do to fix it. I have to commend his patience because he wasn't at all bothered by me watching out of curiosity while he repaired the pipe. (I was one of those kids who liked taking things apart and trying to put them back together). By the time he was finished he had replaced the previous pvc joints and piping with copper, fitted a new faucet, and passed on many useful tidbits as well as advice. I should also mention that this was all in about 20 minutes and he had all the parts and pieces he needed to do a top notch repair with him when he arrived.
Overall Bruce was delightful, knowledgable, and very skilled. He has my mothers full and complete recommendation as well as mine. She will be calling Gold Standard Plumbing & Drain for any future plumbing issues. They are truly 24/7 emergency service and they will get the job done right the first time.
