Gold Seal Plumbing
Company Overview
Founded in 1967 by Robert E. Dixon, Sr. and Richard L. Dixon, Gold Seal Plumbing is dedicated to serving its clients' plumbing demands. Today, Richard Dixon serves as the president and CEO, continuing the legacy.
Bob Sr. would have taken great joy in witnessing his great grandsons grow into licensed journeyman plumbers. Bob Sr. would have admired the teamwork, integrity, quality, and dedication of the plumbers, trainees, and support staff at Gold Seal Plumbing.
Becoming the largest open plumbing shop in Eastern Washington was never our aim...yet here we are. Similarly, we never aimed to be the largest service plumbing operation between Seattle and Minneapolis...yet we are. Our aspiration for the largest training budget for trade skills in Washington State has come to fruition!
Doug has been part of the plumbing trade since 1984 and has held the position of Service Manager at Gold Seal Plumbing for 9 years. You might observe a couple of differences that make us stand out from our rivals. Our policy is not to give pricing over the phone, as we strive to provide you with the most accurate quotes and complete transparency before you make a commitment. We believe in keeping our clients well-informed, which is why we offer upfront pricing—this means your price will remain the same, regardless of how long the repair takes or any issues that may arise during the process.

Yikes! We had one simple clog and were quoted over $500, we had a second opinion come in and it was more like a $150 problem. So glad we didn't go with gold seal on this one:) The guy who came was friendly so at least it was not a miserable experience.
Overpriced and borderline dishonest, they do not diagnose any issues if they can sell you a replacement for over a thousand dollars more.
Point being: Don't LIE and WASTE MY TIME saying that you'll SEND A TECHNICIAN TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE, if you only intend to write me quote for a brand new piece of equipment, and then act like anything else is a waste of MY MONEY.
I may be female but I am not stupid. If I can figure out how to diagnose a problem on you tube, and actually run the test for it, then I shouldn't get any shit from a licensed technician that I called to do the same.
I called and asked for a diagnosis on my hot water tank because I didn't know if I needed a new tank or just a thermocouple. Based on You tube videos it looked relatively easy to diagnose and it appeared to be the thermo couple. The attendant came even though they were pretty booked for the day, which I appreciated.
When he got here he took one look at my hot water heater and said that it's not worth fixing, it's too old and needed to be replaced. When I mean one look I mean he glanced at the installation sticker on the tank and said ""well here's the problem, it's too old"". I asked him if he was even going to"" look"" at it. He basically said that he won't diagnose it so I could pay to fix what I thought was wrong with it, if that didn't fix it then pay to fix the other problem it could be or buy a new tank. He insisted that it would leak the minute I walked out of the room because it is older. At my request he ended up writing me a quote to fix either the thermo couple or the valve, one of which was about $288 and the other was about $488 and kept assuring me that if they replaced one then it could be the other so I should just buy a new tank.
He refused to run diagnostics and it took him 25 minutes to do all of nothing. I wouldn't have wasted my time having him come out here if he wasn't even going to attempt to figure out the problem. I found a new thermocouple for $5 dollars whole sale and am going to have someone install it for free. Ebay sells them for 5 to 20 bucks too.
So, I can either watch the damn you tube video and fix it myself for a total of $5.00, Have a licensed and bonded friend install it for the cost of a case of beer, or I can pay Gold Seal Plumbing $1300 for a new hot water heater... Which I already told them I had cheaper quotes including an extended 5 year labor warranty.
I feel bad for the first female that needs assistance with plumbing and isn't educated. They'll financially ruin that one. But hey, she'll have a new hot water tank. If it ain't broke, replace it.
Two months are so and my outdoor faucet bibs are repaired. Seems my invoice/work order got misplaced and caused a delay. Repair was done quickly and efficiently. I felt bad about my previous rating, especially after they were so helpful with my dead hot water heater over Thanksgiving. Today they went above and beyond on this job and it is GREATLY appreciated. Gold Seal has earned my business for future plumbing needs. Thank you Gold Seal.
al l.Over the years I've had Gold Seal plumbing do a few different plumbing projects. They are always attentive to detail and courteous and do fine work. I recently hired them again for a plumbing project. They completed the plumbing the task in a prompt manner and I am satisfied with the job. What I wasn't pleased with is the priced they charged for an hours worth of work. Again I'm very pleased with the work... Just the price appears to have been way more than what it should have been. That's my only real complaint with Gold Seal Mechanical. Be prepared to pay top dollar.
My husband and I have used Gold Seal for many years (25+) and had great experiences. During the past year, however, we haven t been so happy. On two separate occasions we have called Gold Seal for a repair in our home. The first was a garage disposal, the cost $650. Ouch! Okay, we thought it was something special about the work - no. The second was to repair two leaking toilets and a leaking sink. The plumber replaced parts in the toilets, but only added washers to the sink, cost $860. Double ouch! I agree I approved the repairs, however, I trusted Gold Seal to be fair and honest. Gold Seal was less than fair and honest. I contacted two contractors, one general - one plumbing, paid for their time, reviewed the work with them the cost should have been between $700 and $775 - maximum. I can't recommend Gold Seal. I would like to add an additional comment. After the repairs were checked by the other two contractors, we discovered one of the toilets had been cracked. The plumbing contractor, we didn't hire verified for us the toilet was not cracked prior to Gold Seal's work, after Gold Seal's work the toilet was cracked. Why didn't the plumber just tell us he had cracked the toilet? But to charge us too! You need an appropriate review!
David E.I called Gold Seal based on reviews on Yelp, specifically comments regarding affordability , timeliness, and quality. I have a rental that had a problem with the shower faucet. They were able to come out the next day, and although I forgot to ask, the estimate was free without obligation. The issue I have with their service, which I opted not to use, was the following: the plumber called me with the diagnosed problem, that being it needed a new cartridge, and quoted a price of over $300! I thought it to be high and wanted a second estimate. My renter had a friend who took a look at it and found that the plumber had also failed to notice that the handle was stripped out. So I hunted down the parts, which only cost $80 , and did it myself. Even though I'm not especially handy I watched a how to video on You Tube and was able to complete repair on 20 mins! So how they can justify $300+ I have no idea. Consumer beware!
Unfortunatly on a Friday I called Gold Seal to get a plumber for a broken water heater that needed a thermo coupler (max $30 part). They came out ( I was out of town) and the plumber was really good, but to my horror they charged $299.00 for 1 hour of labor and cheap part to put in. To say the least the water heater only cost $450, so for another $150 I could have bought a new one! Just want everyone to be aware that their prices are way over what they should be. I had similar repairs done for $150 by very good plumbers.
In 2005 when I first moved into my home, I hired Gold Seal Plumbing to install a disposal and hook up a better drain line in the laundry room. This was done without any problems except he didn't like my choice of disposals. I wanted the one with higher horse power, and he didn't see the need. It was my money, I thought I could spend it where I wanted to. He was so upset with me that he did a lousy job plumbing in the drain lines. It was so bad that I had to go and buy new drain lines and re-do the drain lines myself. Thankfully my father was a plumber and I could do the job easily. I would NEVER hire Gold Seal Mechanical Plumbers again for anything.
I had the belief that my water heater wasn't putting out ample hot water. I called around town for estimates expecting I'd need a new heater. Gold Seal was the third company I phoned. The woman that answered with a very professional attitude said they'd be glad to send out a plumber at no charge to take a look at my water heater. I set an appointment for the next day and ""Joe' (no joke, Joe the Plumber) showed up right on time. He put on booties (shoe covers) as my water heater is located upstaris in a closet, we live in a downtown condominium. I had turned the power off to the heater so he could safely test it which he did using a meter to look at the thermostat etc.
He said everything looks fine though its nearing the end of its normal life cycle as its 10 years old - he said in our area they consider 7-12 years normal.
I told him I take long showers, wash something nearly every day and run the dishwasher daily. I have a showerhead that puts out 5 gal per minute (no water saver showerhead for me). He said at that rate its only going to give me 10 minutes of hot water - with a 50 gal tank.
Bottom line - no charge he said I am ok with what I have and call them if it deteriorates. And, buy yourself a watersaver 2.5 gal per minute showerhead - I was obviously happy to hear that and was appreciative he didn't try and sell me something I didn't need.
Gold Seal has my business !!!!!!
I found them to be expensive, also, having paid them $546 (after a veteran's discount) to unblock a drain, and, later, learned of an outfit that advertises unblocking drains for $72. Whether the latter is that simple, I don't know, but I'll try that alternative, next time, to find out.
