Company Overview

In 1967, Robert E. Dixon, Sr. and Richard L. Dixon founded Gold Seal Plumbing, a business committed to addressing the plumbing needs of its customers. Richard Dixon continues to lead as president and CEO of the company.

It would have brought Bob Sr. immense satisfaction to see his great grandsons develop into licensed journeyman plumbers. He would have valued the dedication, quality, integrity, and teamwork of the plumbers, trainees, and support staff at Gold Seal Plumbing.

Becoming the largest open plumbing shop in Eastern Washington was never our aim...yet here we are. Our ambition was not to be the largest service plumbing operation between Seattle and Minneapolis...yet we are. We dreamed of having the largest training budget for trade skills in Washington State, and we turned that dream into reality!

Doug has been in the plumbing industry since 1984 and has served as Service Manager at Gold Seal Plumbing for 9 years. You may notice a few things that set us apart from our competitors. We refrain from offering phone quotes because we want to ensure you receive the most accurate estimates with full transparency prior to your decision. We prioritize keeping our clients informed, so we provide upfront pricing—this guarantees that your price won’t change, no matter how long the repair takes or what complications may occur.

I asked for a an hourly rate for snaking out a washing machine drain (a very standard procedure for any plumbing company). I was told that they don't do hourly rates but have a flat-rate system. Great! I much prefer flat-rate. However, the dispatcher/receptionist said she could not give a price because they charge per foot of snaking. (Strange, but okay). I asked if she could give a general low to high range or what the price was per foot. She said she is not allowed access to pricing and that I would have to schedule the plumber first and then find out what they charged. No thanks! This is a really shady business practice. From other reviews it looks like gouging is standard fair at Gold Seal Plumbing. I'm glad I saw the red flags and went somewhere else.

Called Gold Seal plumbing for an annual clean out of our main line to the street. Usually by years end the pipe has a lot of roots which can cause things to back up, old house and plumbing. The job normally takes about 30 minutes.
The quote for 30 minutes of work, $435.00!!
I said see ya later, no thanks. Never again will I call or recommend Gold Seal plumbing its a racket. You cannot even get a price quote over the phone.

One star because he was on time. From there it was all downhill. After holding me up to the point where I couldn't call for other bids because he wouldn't be the job by the hour and needed to wait until he got a parts quote I was handed and estimate of 1771.00. I was told that the job might take as long as a day and a half to fix my water line. And because I didn't have water under duress I signed the estimate. After two hours of waiting for the right part to be delivered the job took a total of one and a half hours. I assumed that I would be charged much less and I was not only charged the 1771 after tax it was just under $2,000 and he had been at my house less than 4 hours. 2 hours of which were waiting for parts.
Out of complete frustration and not even being able to sleep much that night I stopped payment on my check and demanded to meet with an owner. When I met with the service manager they told me that they do not and will not quote and hourly rate. And the jobs are bid by the job and never by the hour. So I told him how about if I pay you guys $200 an hour instead of $500 an hour? My bill was adjusted by $1,350. The man who started this company was a long time member of my church and a man who would never take advantage of a customer. All of that has been lost with his kids. He would be embarrassed.

The plumber that showed up stated ""maintenance is the same as a problem, well to me anyway"" Quoted approx $500 to run a snake down our line to keep roots clear - same service in the past from their competitors was approx. $200 - That being said, we will not call on them again.

In my business, preventive maintenance is not that same as fixing a problem, so I do not know if their pay scale is commission based or hourly..

Yikes! We had one simple clog and were quoted over $500, we had a second opinion come in and it was more like a $150 problem. So glad we didn't go with gold seal on this one:) The guy who came was friendly so at least it was not a miserable experience.

Overpriced and borderline dishonest, they do not diagnose any issues if they can sell you a replacement for over a thousand dollars more.

Point being: Don't LIE and WASTE MY TIME saying that you'll SEND A TECHNICIAN TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE, if you only intend to write me quote for a brand new piece of equipment, and then act like anything else is a waste of MY MONEY.

I may be female but I am not stupid. If I can figure out how to diagnose a problem on you tube, and actually run the test for it, then I shouldn't get any shit from a licensed technician that I called to do the same.

I called and asked for a diagnosis on my hot water tank because I didn't know if I needed a new tank or just a thermocouple. Based on You tube videos it looked relatively easy to diagnose and it appeared to be the thermo couple. The attendant came even though they were pretty booked for the day, which I appreciated.

When he got here he took one look at my hot water heater and said that it's not worth fixing, it's too old and needed to be replaced. When I mean one look I mean he glanced at the installation sticker on the tank and said ""well here's the problem, it's too old"". I asked him if he was even going to"" look"" at it. He basically said that he won't diagnose it so I could pay to fix what I thought was wrong with it, if that didn't fix it then pay to fix the other problem it could be or buy a new tank. He insisted that it would leak the minute I walked out of the room because it is older. At my request he ended up writing me a quote to fix either the thermo couple or the valve, one of which was about $288 and the other was about $488 and kept assuring me that if they replaced one then it could be the other so I should just buy a new tank.

He refused to run diagnostics and it took him 25 minutes to do all of nothing. I wouldn't have wasted my time having him come out here if he wasn't even going to attempt to figure out the problem. I found a new thermocouple for $5 dollars whole sale and am going to have someone install it for free. Ebay sells them for 5 to 20 bucks too.

So, I can either watch the damn you tube video and fix it myself for a total of $5.00, Have a licensed and bonded friend install it for the cost of a case of beer, or I can pay Gold Seal Plumbing $1300 for a new hot water heater... Which I already told them I had cheaper quotes including an extended 5 year labor warranty.

I feel bad for the first female that needs assistance with plumbing and isn't educated. They'll financially ruin that one. But hey, she'll have a new hot water tank. If it ain't broke, replace it.

Two months are so and my outdoor faucet bibs are repaired. Seems my invoice/work order got misplaced and caused a delay. Repair was done quickly and efficiently. I felt bad about my previous rating, especially after they were so helpful with my dead hot water heater over Thanksgiving. Today they went above and beyond on this job and it is GREATLY appreciated. Gold Seal has earned my business for future plumbing needs. Thank you Gold Seal.

Over the years I've had Gold Seal plumbing do a few different plumbing projects. They are always attentive to detail and courteous and do fine work. I recently hired them again for a plumbing project. They completed the plumbing the task in a prompt manner and I am satisfied with the job. What I wasn't pleased with is the priced they charged for an hours worth of work. Again I'm very pleased with the work... Just the price appears to have been way more than what it should have been. That's my only real complaint with Gold Seal Mechanical. Be prepared to pay top dollar.

My husband and I have used Gold Seal for many years (25+) and had great experiences. During the past year, however, we haven t been so happy. On two separate occasions we have called Gold Seal for a repair in our home. The first was a garage disposal, the cost $650. Ouch! Okay, we thought it was something special about the work - no. The second was to repair two leaking toilets and a leaking sink. The plumber replaced parts in the toilets, but only added washers to the sink, cost $860. Double ouch! I agree I approved the repairs, however, I trusted Gold Seal to be fair and honest. Gold Seal was less than fair and honest. I contacted two contractors, one general - one plumbing, paid for their time, reviewed the work with them the cost should have been between $700 and $775 - maximum. I can't recommend Gold Seal. I would like to add an additional comment. After the repairs were checked by the other two contractors, we discovered one of the toilets had been cracked. The plumbing contractor, we didn't hire verified for us the toilet was not cracked prior to Gold Seal's work, after Gold Seal's work the toilet was cracked. Why didn't the plumber just tell us he had cracked the toilet? But to charge us too! You need an appropriate review!
