Launched in 1946 as Ed Glassman Plumbing & Heating, owner Ed Glassman grew the startup into a prominent player in local contracting. In 1972, following a long tenure, Joseph's father, Adolph and his associate, Charles Staab purchased the firm and rebranded it as Glassman/Staab Inc.

Carrying on his father's tradition, the son, Joe Glassman started Glassman Climate Control in Russell, Kansas in the year 1980. In 1985, he took over his father's firm, combined it with Glassman Climate Control and relocated the business from Russell to Hays. With the expansion of Glassman's mechanical and building services, the business was renamed Glassman Corporation in 1991.
