Called because my ac unit compressor was cycling on and off. Forgot about PG&E SmartAC program.

How does SmartAC work?
If a local or state emergency is anticipated - also referred to a s ""a SmartAC Event Day"" - your device will be remotely activated and your air conditioner compressor will cycle on and off in short increments totaling no more than 15 minutes of every half hour. The best part is that your air conditioner fan continues to circulate cool air that is already in your home.SmartAC Event Days and system tests are pretty infrequent, last as little as two hours and never more than six.The SmartAC program is triggered only during energy supply emergencies, or system reliability testing.SmartAC devices are only activated May 1 - October 31.Due to the nature of energy supply emergencies, PG&E cannot provide advance notice or warning of SmartAC event days. However we do post SmartAC activation on the PG&E homepage and SmartAC homepage on the day of events.

Called back this morning to cancel the appointment and questioned the receptionist about if this` could be the cause of my call. She stated she had no information on the PG&E program or how it worked related to AC units.

I call a BIG FAT LIE on this one. They get the service call and then explain the above to you.

I had Gilmore diagnose my ac problem. R22 coolant was low so the tech assumed there was a leak (most likely correct). Tech proceeded to tell me that the cost of r22 was biggest cost of repair. 2.5 lbs of r22 cost me about $300 (I found r22 online for $30 a pound so I got seriously hosed). Diagnosis cost me $78. UV dye cost me about $150. Leak detection will cost me $299. Based on comment that r22 will be largest expense I assumed maximum out the door cost to fix my ac would be at most $1127 assuming leak repair would be at most $299 since $300 cost for r22 was my biggest expense. After I paid for diagnosis, r22 and UV dye the tech told me the repair will cost me $2300 to $2800 on top of what i just paid. $3128-3628!!!!! What just happened?!! I was bait and switched!! I filed a complaint and asked for a refund for av dye and a 1 year service agreement the tech sold me before I realized the true cost of repair ($199 per year not factored into my calculations). In my opinion I should only pay for the $78 diagnosis. Everything else was agreed upon under false pretenses. I will update this post with Gilmore's response to this issue.


Gilmore accepted responsibility and refunded me the cost of UV dye and the one year service plan. They took my complaint seriously and resolved the issue.

So spent 30 minutes on the phone with Tiiffany and she completely wasted my time. All I wanted was for them to come out and do a tune up on a house that I'm purchasing and is in escrow. Real Estate agents were on board and she states that she needs my realtors phone number so that she can call him and get approval. I give her all the information and then she says for me to call my realtor so that he can give them approval...HUH?? What is this reverse day. So I say, didn't you say you were going to call him, hence why you just asked for all his information. She responds in her cordial aint gonna happen voice, ""No, I'm not going to call him."" I reply, well thanks for wasting my time then...click. Ridiculous.

I called them to ask that they come out and give me a quote for a new install of a solar system AND a new HVAC system for my house. They came out a few days later and inspected our home, took measurements, etc and then advised we would hear back within a few days. That was almost three weeks ago and I have never heard back from them. No calls, e-mails, nothing. I know it's a big company, and they probably have plenty of work, but I feel like this is horrible service and huge waste of my time. Honestly, this is such a poor way to start a lengthy and expensive process, I guess I should be relieved I ran into this trouble now instead of after the work was completed. I don't know that I would ever trust them after this.

I had issues with my a/c and looked up our local ads for a/c discounts and saw Gilmore Heating & Air in our ads. So i called them to schedule an appt. I didn't know what i was in for. They answered phone with a great greeting--which that in it-self on a Saturday was comforting. I was scheduled asap to my surprise. I thought for sure i would have to wait since it is hot out. The lady on the phone was really informative and concerned for my well-being since my a/c wasn't working very good. I was very happy that i took the initiative to call--they will be my a/c company from now on.

Great service from start to finish. Sales guy was able to explain everything needed in a way I could understand. The crew that put my unit in was pretty quick and professional, have had no problems whatsoever. They kept my floors clean with their carpet and made sure that they cleaned up after themselves when the job was done. Before I signed that the job was done they explained my new system to me and left all of the manuals for review.

I really couldn't ask for more.

Signed up for the yearly inspection and the spring check of the A.C went well,, refilled the freon, and it worked well. Later called for the fall inspection of the heating system and was shown ipad pics of metal with oxidation. That is not abnormal for a heating system, BUT I was told that I could schedule a visit (maybe 2-3 hours) for someone to estimate replacement of the heating system. That was two years ago. I just thought about it. I did not renew the annual inspections. Maybe they know something that I do not know, but I was not very assured.
