Gilman installed and maintained our HVAC units for about 12 years at our previous home and did a great job! When we moved to our new home they inspected our HVAC unit and thankfully everything was fine. We wanted a multi-split for our garage and that was installed last week. So excited, it is very quiet and works well for our garage. We never had a need for their plumbing services in the past, however, our new home had a leak in the crawlspace, it was a Saturday, Gilman came out within the hour. Did a great job! The office staff and technicians are always friendly and polite.
We have been good customers of Gilman for several years, but no longer. Last week we had them come to unstop a shower drain. They sent a nice young man (maybe 25 tops) and he was in our home working a little over an hour. The bill? $360. The bill stated that they had changed out 2 faucets, so I called the office and asked them to review it, and they said they would and have a plumbing supervisor call me back. Never got a call, so I called back about 3 days later and was told the same thing. I waiting again -- still no call, so I called back and said I wold hold on the phone until they got someone to talk to me. The person said hold on, and came back after about 5 minutes, where she informed me that the bill was correct and that I could not speak with a supervisor. In todays world I know people are busy, staff is short, etc., but customer service still needs to be delivered and questions answered. The price was outrageous. We were on maintenance plans for AC/Heat as well -- but have cancelled that. This business does not care enough about its customers to even speak on the phone or make callbacks. Don't use them.
Called at 3 PM for AC not working. Outside temperature was 95, heat index maybe 100. Dispatcher told me a tech would be at our house between 4 and 7 pm. Tech arrived at 4:10 PM. Problem solved by 5:15. Will call them again.

We had AC issue, Gilman technician came out and told us that it's an old unit and not worth fixing, but he can do a temporary fix, so he added a freon to it, charged us 1600$ Ac stopped working in two weeks or so, and after I called them and said it stopped working, they said, well, there was a leak so all the Freon probably leaked out
Long story short the technician added Freon to the unit even though he knew it would leak out , but he never told us anything about the leak or tried to fix the leak first, which is kinda given, you fix something before you put liquid in it !!!!
They offered they would put new unit and take out 1600$ out of it, but then they gave us quote so high, other company did the same job , for couple thousand less....
So yeah, watch out before you consider calling them!!!
UPDATE ! Vice president of the company just called me several hours after this review calling me ""Winy FUCKING BITCH"" for putting this review !!!! Threatening to send me For collection, although I have no idea what is he talking about we paid the bill right away lol ....

Our HVAC System needed routine maintenance/inspection. Troy Huffman was our technician. Mr. Huffman was very professional and extremely knowledgeable regarding his craft. He arrived on time and completed his work quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend Gilman, and specifically Mr. Huffman, to anyone with heating, cooling & plumbing needs!

Nancy Y.I called Gilman after being told by two other companies that they were too busy to service my commercial unit at 3:00 on super hot day (understandable). I crossed my fingers, called Gilman and couldn't have been more impressed by how nice the person who answered was. Not only did they fix our unit, from the time I called to it being fixed was less than an hour and a half. I couldn't be happier.
Jarratt O.I've used Gilman several times for HVAC service at my home. The business is well managed, and it's easy to set up an appointment, even after hours! The technicians are knowledgeable and not only fix the problem, but provide useful information to the homeowner to better maintain their HVAC equipment. Recently, I called Gilman after hours to fix my AC unit. I was called back promptly by a technician, and he came quickly. The unit is working well now, and I appreciated the convenience of getting an appointment so late in the day. I believe that Gilman provides plumbing services as well, but I have no experience with those services. If you live in the Richmond metro area, give Gilman at try!
Several issues with this company: erroneous quote, careless plumber, and unprofessional office staff. We had this group out for the first time after our preferred plumbing company was bought out by them. When I called the office to schedule the repair, I was careful to describe removing a pedestal sink and installing a new vanity with new faucets. They gave me a price quote, which I confirmed included everything, including taking away the old sink. When the plumber arrived, he told me the office hadn't told them there was any work other than swapping out faucets. In speaking to the office, they essentially accused me of lying. (Isn't there a better way to handle this, e.g. ""I am so sorry there was a misunderstanding?"") The new quote was five times the first one, which I thought was considerably higher than the old company would have charged. However, I proceeded with the installation since they were already there to save me further aggravation. To top it off, the plumber was quite careless in his work. He was dripping water all over our antique wood floors until I pointed it out. He then proceeded to do work (cutting pipe?) on top of a handmade Oriental rug, until I caught him and made him stop. The faucet works, so no problems there.
Millionaire S.A little disappointed with the last service call. It was only supposed to be an estimated visit. After the tech looked at what needed to be done; he gave me a quote. He stated it would be a service fee anyway for coming out so I should go ahead and get the work performed. With the misinformation he provided it sounded like a good idea to do as suggested. It didn't sound right to me based on past service calls. Especially when Laurie told me estimates are free.
While the tech was at my home about to get started on the work; I decided to call the office and speak with Laurie to get clarity. The tech rushed in so quickly to get started. I didn't even have an opportunity to stop him after speaking with her. I questioned the service fee and she seemed a little uneasy when I pointed out that in the past on several visits a service fee was never charged. She explained that the past visits were charged but it was incorporated with the repair. I explained it was never itemized that way on any of the invoices. She then advises that the tech was new and it was only supposed to be an estimate if no work was performed.
At this point it's too late. I'm thoroughly disappointed in Gilman.

One of Gilman's service techs, Doug, has been to service my system a few times and he is very considerate and professional. He is just an all around nice guy. He explains everything and walks me through any questions I have. I love the personal service Gilman provides each and every time - consistently. Everyone in the office is as considerate and professional and works with me to schedule my appointments at my convenience.
