My HOA hired them to fix a leak from the unit above. Work was done poorly as they decided to skip some areas of water damage. I literally had to beg them to cut all drywall areas with water damage. Its fixed now but to this day I hope they did a good job and MOLD won't appear. Time will tell... Also, during the process they have damaged my bathroom flooring. At first, they said they will fix it and asked what color flooring do I want? Few days later they decided to deny it and said that they didn't dmagaed it and they don't know how that happened. I asked to cover the damages or replace the floor and all they did was send me a small $200 check, saying that this is what they think they owe me. The owner is ""too busy to talk to me as he runs multiple businesses"". Tom, the supervisor, could care less about the outcome.

Talked to the lawyers and the remaining amount is too small to sue for. IL attorney general was not able to help me. Today, after a long battle, I cashed the $200-dollar check. Looks like this sleazy company will get a way with it. I am sure the company's founder is proud of what they have become. Shame on them or maybe shame on me for trusting The Lieberman Management to hire them.

I have had a great experience with this company. Unfortunately, this is my second time in six years I have needed them, This was my first time with water in my basement due to a sump pump and backup that could not keep up when the electricity went off. The response to get here , assess the situation, and get started was 30 minutes! Incredible. The men who did the work, Kevin and Jose, were awesome. Kevin explained everything to me, left it all clean and was responsive each day he came here. These guys were meticulous and I would use them anytime. What could have been worse , was not as bad because of the way they handled it all. Thank you.

We had hot water tank leak into our pantry in our building. I found mold and the management company called Giersten...a month later when they were able to finally come over, when they tore down the dry wall, they left the wall open and exposed toxic mold with out any proper ventilation or air scrubbing machines, exposing my entire home. I called the next day and no return phone call until the second day after I called again explaining there was mold in the dry wall, exposed. I had to send pictures for him to believe me. Daniel said we would be fine...they do not know how to do a proper mold remediation and would not recommend this company. My family is now sick from improper remediation....

Last July 2,2016 a drastic accident happened to our house. There was a car that went through my closed garage and my kitchen wall collapsed and it was the most devastated feeling I have ever experienced. Thank goodness for a quick response with the Giertsen Company for taking out the broken garage door and boarded the garage. So We decided to hired them to restore our damaged kitchen. After a long 9-10 weeks grueling wait for our remodeled kitchen, we are extremely happy with the result and I will highly recommend and trust this company. Not only they did a good job I also trusted all the workers that was involved with the project. They were committed and work very hard to accomplish everything I asked for. Just want to say thank you for your rescue and for giving us our dream kitchen. Rachel F. From Buffalo Grove.

My Husband Ron posted regarding these guys back in June, but I wanted to add a few comments. We spent several months argueing with our association about the water coming in our outlets and the smell of mold in our home. It took them 3 months to finally open our walls to see massive amounts of mold. Geirtsen said it would be fine to live there so long as they put of a containment barrier and ran an air scrubber. The problem was the mold was already airborne at that point.

Additionally, everytime someone opened a door to our 2 story home the contamination barrier would collapse. After the first collapse my face swelled up so bad I couldn't open my eyes. We finally were able to get them to run an air quality test. Our home with tested by a company called ESGL that was selected by the Condo Association. The report came back with several types of mold including Stachybotris ""Black Mold"" the counts were so high they were off the charts.

Giertsen's solution was to put up an additional barrier and relegate us to the 1st floor of our home. They also required we leave our HVAC on as it was winter and they didn't want our pipes to freeze.

Once this was completed they cleaned our home but said they didn't need to clean our HVAC and were only going to clean our ducts. After several months of still not feeling well we had our HVAC looked at and there as Mold on our coils as well....I would think a MOLD remediation company would have a responsibility to notify all residents of a proper remediation protocol.

Then to make matter worse, we are dealing with the water intrusion again this year due to their error in not replacing a Vapor Barrier between the walls. Then they lied to the management about it. They also never replaced a section of drywall that was supposed to be replaced as well... instead just painted over it ( I am guessing when they remove it this time we will see more black mold.)

We have had our home tested again, this time before anything has been exposed or removed and, again, the tests are showing areas with high counts of Black mold...These are just in the air, which means it is floating on everything we own and ourselves.

We have been forced to move out of our home while this process happens all over agin.

I have been diagnosed with CIRS caused by Black mold, Had a Staff infection in my nose and am on a rigid schedule of Anti-fungals, Antibiotics, strict diet that will take up to a year to kill the mold in my body....all because Geirtsen did not remediate correctly and did not inform us on how to take precautions to keep ourselves safe.

Please do not use them if you are at all worried about the outcome.

Nightmare. They did a mold restoration in our condo (management hired them) and dropped the ball from start to finish. Their employees are nice and as helpful as possible. Their 'expert' told us it was safe to live in the unit during restoration. My wife has been sick with mild toxicity nearly a year now. When replacing the drywall they failed to replace the vapor barrier per plan. I noticed it on the last day and they assured me it was done. I cut a hole a few weeks later to run some cables and sure enough no vapor barrier. Giertsen confirmed by the materials list it was not replaced despite them telling me it was. They came back to 'paint' a vapor barrier on. This time they pulled a tarp with wet paint throughout our whole house all over our brand new floors, over 8 brand new decks and through the lobby. Also painted on exposed concrete. These guys are a nightmare. Whatever you do, do not use them.

These people, a family business, were very good for the restoration of my home after a flood - drying out, de-molding etc. Not wanting to wait for my normal painter, I had them paint my vintage home. Sadly after four diligent attempts, the paint is still blistered. I had to put up with noxious primer and many intrusions. And, they never checked in on the last attempt. I should have held more $ back.
