We needed work done in two bathrooms and have not been pleased with our current plumbers which is part of a large firm whose name is widely recognized in the area. A good friend recommend Gidders to me awhile ago so when our current needs surfaced we decided to try them. We were very happy with the entire process. Patrick responded quickly and he was to the point and efficient with everything from beginning to end. We liked his no-nonsense attitude and knowledge. His brother Chris also helped with some of the work as well. The service was great the prices were reasonable which, again, was much better than our previous big name provider. Everything was just like dealing with a small company in every way which we found refreshing. We won't hesitate to call them, again.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The owner is a complete scam artist-the complaint will be escalated to BBB and to Fairfax County, because someone like this should not have a license. I was left with no hot water AND no heat for over 5 days IN DECEMBER. The owner was pointing fingers and would NOT take accountability. I had to call the owner to figure out how the problem would be fixed- he never took the initiative to reach out to me (it's his responsibility). When I did call, he spoke to me very condescendingly and in an EXTREMELY rude tone. The owner does not have project management, communication or human interaction skills. I have to now spend more money and more time to call someone else to fix the problem. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS PLACE AND THIS OWNER (completely unethical). DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THIS PERSON.

I needed a plumber to cIear out a clog in my kitchen drain. I selected Gilders & Sons as they had been recommended by a reliable source as fair and reasonably priced. It turns out they were neither fair or reasonably priced. They are clearly rip off artists. Barney, the owner, and Jose, his assistant, spent 45 minutes in my house clearing the clog and charged $800.00! When I questioned the charge Barney said that was going rate these days. That in itself is a lie as I have subsequently queried other plumbers who said a price of $400 to $500 is reasonable to clear a clogged kitchen drain. Even if you count a travel time to my house, they charged over $400 per hour. Not bad for a rip off artist!!! AVOID Gilders & Son at all costs.

I got tired of paying the rip-off prices of those plumber companies that have lots of advertising. It took me a while to realize that the expense of all that advertising in print, TV, and elsewhere is passed on to the consumers. I've used Gidders and Sons twice and was totally satisfied both times. The first time I needed a new toilet installed in a condo that I own and rent out. They gave me the price over the phone while recommending several different toilets. (I went with The Avalance but that's another 5-star review.) They showed up on time and completely the job flawlessly. Nearly a half-year later when I decided the home that I live in should have comparable toilets, I called them up and in less than a week, my family and I were sitting pretty, you might say. Great work. Reliable service. And reasonable prices. That's been my experience.

A sewage pipe cracked in our home creating a leak into our basement. Gidders was able to come out, diagnose, and resolve the problem very efficiently. We had to jackhammer through the floor of our ground level bathroom and finished up leaving the bathroom looking better than it ever did before. Excellent finish work and attention to detail. I would highly recommend this company.

I've had ongoing problems with a toilet leaking at the base. Even though I replaced the wax seal several times, it continued to leak. I called Gidders and Sons, and Patrick arrived for the appointment on time. Within minutes he diagnosed the problem and indicated how he would fix it. I was thrilled to hear that the job has a two year warranty, which is unheard of in the plumbing industry. I will definitely use them again for other plumbing problems.

Referred to Gidders by another plumber. Called, took the day off from work, and no one showed up. Called and spoke with the owner again who totally forgot that I called and that he had set up the appointment. Son Patrick and another kid showed up and seemed lost. Wasted day as he went out to get different parts only to return and head out again. Agreed to pay federal express charges to get the part. Arranged to have water cutoff at condo (T-Th only from 10-2) and Patrick almost missed the window before the water would be turned back in. Part installed and 5 months later, the shower would not turn off. Patrick refused to return but owner did. Took the shower apart and turned off the water. Could not get him to return to fix the problem caused by the part his son recommended. Non-working shower two years later. Paid $350 for this mess and no working shower. Do not understand how this company can still be in business. Filing formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau to get my money refunded.
