I have been using Barney for many years. I am a general contractor and have found him very knowledgeable. He is one of the few contractor that comes out and meets with the inspectors. He does very large jobs and smaller jobs as well. I'm about to do a large job in Great Falls and plan on using him again. I highly recommend this company.

This is, by far, the worst plumber in the history of Virginia.

I challenge ANY potential customer to ask Barney about ANY of these following incidents that happened at ""the collingham home""

Paid $400 for permits. Rough-in inspection comes and the inspector tells me no permits were pulled. Barney blames his son.

2nd try on inspection. Turns out gas line permits weren't pulled. Blames his son.

Tells me piping going on exterior wall will be properly insulated. Puts up garbage plastic pipes that extend into the attic, no elbows or anything. LEAVES THE WATER ON DURING THE WINTER AND ABSOLUTELY FLOODS THE HOME RESULTING IN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DAMAGE.

Re-pipes it with soft copper but ONCE AGAIN DOESN'T INSULATE IT OR ELBOW IT. JUST GIANT LOOPS THROWN INTO MY ATTIC.

When he finally puts of ""the best insulation,"" it's the cheapest home-depot styrofoam you can buy. He didn't even put the quality stuff that costs $2 more on it.

On two different faucets that his sons did, they had to be completely re-done.

We give him the exact dimensions of a cabinet and the instructions to our stove to stub out a gasline. We drywall over, suprise surprise, he stubbed it out wrong. When he reroutes it, he puts the shutoff valve FLUSH AGAINST THE STUD. HOW THE HELL DO YOU DRYWALL THAT.

I am PROUD to say I have discouraged DOZENS of people from using Gidders and sons.
What an absolute embarassment of a plumber and a family.

Our water heater tank failed and our unit had to be replaced. Barney stopped by over the weekend to look the job over and he and his son replaced the unit on Monday. Excellent customer service and the installation was professionally done. I would have given 5 stars except for: I asked for an in kind replacement and they replaced with a lower efficiency unit. In the end it was a fair price and great service.

Pat and Chris came out to replace my hot water heater and Pat did an excellent job, he had great attention to detail - even sweeping after. The price was good too. I'd give 5 stars except they ended up arriving at 1:30 instead of 11 am - noon as originally projected (they had some miscommunication between who was to tell me about the updated time frame). I'm definitely planning to use them in the future.

For plumbing skills, price and speed no complaints; but on administrative or follow-up skills, not great. Had to replace a water heater under warranty. He hauled away the old one but never turned in the ""plate"" from that to the distributor like he is supposed to so the manufacturer can reimburse the cost. This nearly cost me $1400! Fought the manufacturer and local distributor for two months to get my money back. Manufacturer's website referred me to this gentleman and they tell me plumbers are supposed to know the drill. Yet to even get a receipt for the labor portion (for a four digit dollar value service) after repeated requests. Last phone message I left went unanswered prompting this review.

Found Barney through Yelp, and after calling three other plumbers for pricing on a very specific service found him to be the best price. One would not give me a price... said they would have to come over and assess the situation then give me a price - for a fee of course. Talking to Barney over the phone I felt he was very straightforward and honest, but the reality hit when his son Patrick came over. Patrick saw that what we had talked about was indeed the problem and the price Barney gave me was what I paid. Patrick was very professional, respectful of the house and did a super job repairing and cleaning up the area. Good, fast and cheap - what else can be said. Barney and Patrick are now my plumbers for life!

Barney was referred to me by a close friend. We needed a bathroom completely remolded. The bathroom had a 1980's theme and needed a complete makeover. Barney and his team of guys came in and remodeled my entire bathroom in 1 month. He was very affordable and cheaper than his competition. Highly recommended
