James C.Nope - Don't go here (and I should have known better): This is a one-man operation, helmed by a young feller who gave me a good price on the installation of a new oil-fired boiler with domestic water (You get what you pay for). I understand how difficult it is to be a small business owner, even more so when you are chief cook, bottlewasher, and accountant, but your WORK is your REPUTATION. Mr. Gardner falls short with sloppy work that is potentially dangerous: During the installation, he found that he needed to run a power wire from the electrical panel to the aquastat, which controls the operation of the furnace. He was in a rush to finish the work, and I was also behind schedule and needed to be elsewhere, but it doesn't excuse what came next: He ran the wire from a junction box without installing a wire clamp, and then tapped only two staples into a beam to hold the wire along its ENTIRE 35-40 foot run, with the wire terminating in the electrical panel without any staples securing the wire outside the panel. Instead, he grabbed a hammer he found on the workbench below and wedged it next to a joist to ""secure"" the wire in place. I only discovered all this on a subsequent inspection, and was livid that it had been left that way - it would be an immediate ""fail"" on an electrical inspection if the work was subject to an inspection, but more damning was the fact that he never said anything to the effect of, ""Hey, I know this isn't kosher but since I'm short on time right now I'll come back and fix it"". He never breathed a word to me suggesting that this was a temporary fix, which translates to, ""I simply don't care"". When I confronted him with what I saw, he didn't respond - crickets. When I persisted to ""fix it"", he finally responded with, ""I'm extremely busy but I'll get over there and get it done!"" Sorry - I lost all confidence in G&G Homes and decided to fix the wire myself, spending several hours doing it right.
Mr. Gardner also promised me a refund on the tax paid for a capital improvement, but that didn't come either.
I don't like to rain on small business owners, but when you knowingly do sloppy work that endangers life and property, everyone deserves to know.
Ben replied to my request to change the plug on my generator. He was the only person that did and he came the same day with the correct plug. He also tested the generator and pointed out the switches that it controls. No one else bothered to respond to me. Especially Secure Electric in Delhi who has done work on this house for a whole year. I will use G & G from now on. Ben is reliable and comes when he makes a committment. I am very pleased with his work.
I requested a furnace swap out. I had an old furnace and I purchased a new one. The old furnace could not be repaired so I needed the new one installed ASAP. I contacted every company I found online and G&G Homes was the only company available not booked out 3 weeks or more. I had a $3500 budget to work with on getting the furnace installed.
G&G Homes installed my furnace for $1550 and an additional $150 for a neutral wire that needed to be replaced.
Everything had been great until Norton Propane came to fill my tanks and get the serial number off the furnace as it is new and they keep the serial number on all my propane appliances.
Upon looking at my furnace the pipe used for the exhaust was a fire hazard, we had been smelling something burning but could never find where the smell was coming from we just never put 2 and 2 together. Norton did not turn my furnace off at that time but came back out 2 days later to disconnect my furnace from my propane until the exhaust pipes were replaced to appropriate piping that won't set my house on fire.
When I contacted G&G Homes about this I was told and I will quote word for word...
""It needs to be changed to this for sure, but flex is what we had at the time and I knew yall wouldn't wanna pay for a full repipe so that's what I used to get ya going ""
""It definitely wasn't my first choice but your an hr away from the closest store and it would have been another 500 or so to do the whole thing in hard pipe. Flex is safe, obviously it lasted this long. But yeah it should be changed.""
Apparently going to this company was the wrong thing to do, I should have waited a month to have another company install my furnace as I said in the beginning I had a $3500 budget, paying for a ""full re-pipe"" would not have been an issue, my kids safety is my top priority and this company would rather just make assumptions.
I called G&G out of the blue for an on demand water heater repair. Ben and I spoke within a few minutes and he arrived within an hour. He diagnosed the problem quickly and repair was completed. I was so pleased with his service and prompt response. Thank you Ben! L. shaw
We lost power to half our house while we were preparing to have guests over for dinner. One call to G&G Homes and someone was on the way. Ben let us know what was going on and was able to have everything fixed in time for our dinner party! Ben was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend G&G, and I will be a returning customer for future problems.
My home lighting in the living room, and the kitchen was not working and G&G Homes sent Ben to our house with in 30 minutes . Ben came in ready to go to work . He attended to the problems and managed to fix all them. He was very good with his job. Ben was very helpful explaining what the issue was. Than he used his equipment fixed it. Ben was very friendly ,kind , and very knowledgeable of his job. His price was very fair for the job he did. I recommend him to anyone else and I will definitely contact him again if I have any issues down the road .
