I'm not sure if he's still among the living. Our decks started to ripple and separate. He sent over workers last year, and they said it was a bigger job than they thought it would be to fix. They said they'd be in and out often. I never saw them again.

Mr. Gerrard no longer answers his phone. I did reach him once, early summer, and he stated that he believed the crew had fixed the problem. I asked if he could come out personally and see it. He said he'd be glad to. He's never come.

Perhaps he died? Someone is paying his phone bill... We're both in our mid 70s now, and I worry about what will happen this winter when we can't see the loose boards through the snow.

I'm recovering from yet another surgery, but when I'm doing a little better and there's a sunny day, I'll take some photos.
