In Denver, Colorado, on April 1, 1950, George T. Sanders and his wife Pauline established a small business to supply heating contractors with sheet metal and other materials. They opened their doors at 1111 Stout Street in the heart of downtown Denver. By 1952, the company had outgrown its original site and relocated to 7821 West Colfax Avenue in Lakewood.

In 1962, the company transitioned to new quarters at 1365 Harlan Street. Until that point, the focus had been primarily on heating and sheet metal. Expanding into plumbing became one of the most crucial decisions for the company. Currently, the George T. Sanders Company is acknowledged as one of Colorado's leading plumbing supply houses.

In 1965, land was acquired across the street at 1370 Harlan Street. In 1966, a metal warehouse with a modest office area was constructed on this site. The company continually introduced new product lines and increased its workforce. Reed is a Manager at the George T. Sanders Company.
