I contacted Gene's Water & Sewer to obtain a bid to repair cracks in our sewer lateral which were revealed during a sewer line scope. Craig returned my inquiry in less than a day, and returned an estimate to me within an hour of our discussion. Because of the large scope of our repair needs and high cost, Craig walked me through another option for repairing our line - work that could be performed only by a competitor company. He provided over 30 minutes of thorough and helpful guidance, including explaining an alternative solution that could only be performed by his competitor. We recently had our main sewer line back up in our basement and we made the rookie mistake of calling Roto Rooter. Someone came to the house and was able to temporarily get the water to drain, however he said he was hitting a blockage and needed to send back a guy with a camera to take a closer look. Someone came with a camera the next day and told us that our pipe that connects to the main sewer was offset and then handed me an estimate of $15,000 to fix it! We were devastated. We knew we needed to get a second opinion and thankfully we called Gene's Water and Sewer!

I spoke with Craig at Gene's Water and Sewer and explained our situation. Craig was very knowledgeable and was willing to spend over 20 minutes on the phone with me discussing my questions and concerns. Craig recommended we start by having Cardinal Services come clean our pipes again because we likely just needed someone who could do a better job. We decided to go with Craig's recommendation and we are so thankful we did! Lee from Cardinal Services came to our house that same day and was able to get through the blockage and all the way to the main sewer line! Our pipes were never offset -- they simply needed to be cleaned better!

We were so impressed with the ethical response of Gene's Water and Sewer! Craig could have easily played the same nasty game as Roto Rooter and tried giving us an estimate for the supposed repairs, but he instead did the honorable thing and directed us to the honest solution even though it potentially meant giving up business. We are thankful there are still trustworthy companies like Gene's Water and Sewer! If we or someone we know ever needs sewer work done, we'll definitely be calling Gene's Water and Sewer!

Our main sewer line was backing up in the basement and we initially called Uptown Plumbing to fix it. Someone came to our house and spent ~45 min attempting to unclog the drain. He said he was hitting something about 10ft out. After using a camera, I was told that we need to excavate and repair a section of our sewer pipe for $6000. We decided we wanted another opinion before making a pressured/rushed decision to spend that much money.

Gene's Water & Sewer was one of the first places I called looking for another opinion. The person I spoke to was extremely helpful. He spent ~20 minutes talking to me and offering his professional opinion. He sent me a quote for the sewer repair work (which was about half the price of what Uptown had quoted me). He also recommended just having someone clean the drain again who is better at it because we most likely didn't actually need that expensive repair done. We decided to call the company he recommended to do a more thorough cleaning (Cardinal Services) and try to save having to do the expensive repair. The person who came was excellent; had the camera and the snake and was able to completely clean 90ft of pipe to the front street in ~2.5 hours (we don't need the sewer repair/excavation work done). While we didn't actually need to use Gene's Water & Sewer, their willingness to spend that much time talking to someone and offering sound advice made me trust them. If we do need sewer work in the future, we will definitely be calling them!

We had a great experience with Gene's Water and Sewer, and we would ultimately like to praise them for what they both did and did NOT do. We had already heard about the excellent work they do before calling them. We believed that we needed to have our entire inside and outside sewer lines replaced, but Craig at Gene's Water and Sewer referred us to a different company for the inside work, then insisted that we first have our outside line thoroughly inspected before committing to paying him for such a big project. It turns out that our outside line did not need any work done on it after all, and Gene's ended up receiving no payment from us whatsoever. It is that kind of customer service and HONESTY that makes Gene's the company to go with in our book. We will also be recommending them to everyone who needs work now
