I thought this was a trustworthy company . . . I don't think so anymore. We had a garbage disposal installed and purchased from them. We were sold the preferred customer package because they said it included great discounts on prices. Recently had new countertops and sink installed. We purchased the faucet for them to install, called and arranged the appointment. First, they charged a $45.00 assessment fee. There was nothing to assess, we told them we wanted to install the faucet. We were given a quote. When the installer was done, he also said he had to reinstall the garbage disposal . . . but would not charge for that. Then showed the invoice on an iPad type device, asked for a signature and said the invoice would be emailed. will never do that again. Almost $500 to connect a faucet that we purchased. Too much $$ and shouldn't have to pay a diagnostic fee.

We've been General Air Conditioning & Plumbing customers since 2013. We appreciate their prompt response over the phone as well as the polite, respectful, friendly, and knowledgeable technicians who appear at our house. It's possible we pay more than we would with other companies, but the peace of mind we receive from General is worth it. We had a hot water heater fail yesterday. The technician, Zach Vaughan, was on site within 30 minutes and had the situation under control. About 30 minutes later another technician joined him and they both worked hard from 9:30 until about 6:30 pm. They did take a brief lunch break but were back on the job right away. Zack kept us informed throughout the repair process, and when he ran into issues he didn't expect he thoroughly explained how he was going to work through them. In the Coachella Valley we have many choices for home services, but for major HVAC and plumbing issues we'll always choose General. Thank you!

Stay away from this company! I have blindly used them for 10 years because they do come quickly on short notice when you have an emergency. But the fact is, they overcharge and try to sell you parts and services that are totally unnecessary if you use them for yearly maintenance...especially on AC units. They told me my AC had to be totally replaced for X number of reasons. I got 2 other opinions both of which said the unit was working fine...no problems. Same thing happened at my rental house. If you use them at all get a second opinion.

I'm tired of this company, their suppose ""great customer service"" is a joke. I have the maintenance contract and they charge me $13 dlls every month. They never send any reminder of when your maintenance needs to be (they offer 2 maintenance per year). I'm the one that need to call every time. The disrespectful customer service Merisa told me that I need to call them to ""remind"" them to go and do the maintenance at my house. She even said that I have to do that the same way I remember to do oil change on my car!! Well looks like she doesn't have a car because the dealer send me a reminder when the oil service need to happen and I never receive those reminders from The General. Definitely this company does not have any good customer service.
Worst of all, I try to cancel, and this lady told me that I my contract started on March 2017, one service was done in August 2017, and the second one in April 2018. Which means I had only ONE maintenance done from the TWO they suppose to have in one year, NOW I'm stuck with a contract for another year otherwise I will need to pay $149 for the second service that was AFTER the first year of the contract. What a joke!
So be aware, you need to keep track of when your maintenance needs to be done, they don't do any crap on remind you, but yet, they are very good deducting your monthly payment from your credit card! No doubt!
I asked this lady that I wanted to talk to her supervisor, surprise! There is NO supervisor in their customer service line! Another example of how this company has a bad costumer service.

After spending the last 30+ years as business owners on a remote island, racking up multiple customer service experiences, you can't imagine the stories we have! I can honestly say, speaking from both sides, the quality of service by General A/C from sales through installation is far superior to any others. Ken took time listening to our specific needs and concerns and designed the perfect system for us. As new residents to the desert we had ""dry"", ""noise"" and ""purification"" concerns. Ken assured us the system would address all of our issues. He was 110% correct! The installation team, headed by Jathon we're professional, clean, friendly and extremely efficient. Even our picky pups liked them! As we sit here feeling great after the best night's sleep in 2 months of arriving to the Coachella Valley we are in awe of the entire experience. The level of knowledge that these guys have and the efficiency of the sales and install are nothing short of remarkable. We cannot recommend General Air more. We are so grateful to them for guiding us effortlessly into this next chapter of our lives. THANK YOU!!

I was a customer of this company 14 years and gave them good business both for evaporator coolers and air conditioning. Since then they don't believe in answering telephones of customers who they have had for many years. I had the need of a service call and could not get anyone to either returned my call or set up an appointment.

I chose to use NexGen who is located in Southern California. I've called them on a number of occasions and they responded immediately. I engaged them to take over the service at my residence. I'm completely happy with the results and I should've made the change from Gen. air to this company much earlier.

Came home tonight and discovered a leak on the side of my house in an unusual spot. I decided to call the General because I wasn't sure if it could wait until morning. The dispatcher was so kind and helpful! Zach showed up in a timely manner and was AWESOME!!! My leak is in a very awkward place and he took the time at this late hour to figure out what's going on and to give me answers to all my questions. Thank you very much Zach and General AC & Plumbing!

The General installed a new AC unit in 2010 at my townhouse saying that the old one could not be fixed. Had them do a couple of periodic maintenance checks until one of their technicians improperly hooked a hose up to the unit and somehow caused water to leak into my place as the AC unit is on the roof. Had to hassle with their service manager as they told me repairs would be over $1000 for something that was not my fault and also had them finally agree to pay for an electrician to check for any damage they may have caused.

That was the last I used them as at the next service interval I contacted another company and told the technician all that had occurred with The General. He asked if I had anything with the number of the original unit they had replaced. I did and he did some research and it showed that the original unit was still under warranty when they said it needed replacing...a fact they conveniently forgot to tell me. It had been installed in 2004 when it was originally built and sold. I purchased in 2008 and it was replaced in 2010 and the warranty was good on the original unit until 2014!

I was told their service technicians work for commission so of course they're going to do their best to make as much for themselves regardless of the outcome to their customers.

Skip to today when the other company tells me that the unit The General installed was not meant to handle the desert heat and conditions and was more suited for coastal and cooler regions. Plus the unit had a much shorter warranty period than my previous unit and of course was out of warranty! So now on top of the $6400 unit they installed I'm now having to install an almost $10000 new unit due to their dishonesty on warranty coverage and installing a unit unfit for the needs of this area.

I've talked to many others who have used The General in the past and have had issues with their services as well. I know I would rather swelter in the heat than to have anything to do with them ever again! So remember when you see the commercial saying ""Here comes The General"" it's to scam you and take your money with absolutely no regard for customer service or business integrity!

After much discussion, even though my problem was fixed, please have enough sense to read all of the negative reviews lately. Find another company, or you will not be satisfied, either.

We used to totally trust the General company, but no longer! I had them out for a annual check up on my HVAC unit. Was told everything was fine. Before they came my A/C unit was cold as ice. The tech after 2 1/2 hours working on the unit said it was fine but the dual capacitor was not functioning properly. I had them install a ""new"" one. Days later my A/C is not working. Had another tech out today. Now my refrigerant line is clogged and they dont k ow where it is! And want to charge me to fix it. I work in HVAC and know you can run dye in the system to find the leaks. Then going to charge me for the service call. Heed this warning. They are out to get people. Such a shame. I used to totally trust this company. Sad. My HVAC unit is only seven years old. Will never use them again. Horrible company.
Another company is now here and told me I have a crack on the inlet line that the refrigerant has leaked out. And needs a new line and a re charge of the refrigerant. Thanks General. Total Rip offs!
