He dedicates his time to volunteering for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Marin. In his leisure time, he enjoys golfing, cycling, fly fishing, and tending to his garden.

We had a leak in our downstairs toilet that ruined the hardwood floor. We had to purchase a new toilet and new flooring. Brad came out before the job started and made excellent and timely recommendations. When the new floor was finished he returned and installed the new toilet and took the old one and disposed of it at no charge. Brad is a true professional......very courteous and a good communicator. My husband who is a handy man himself was impressed with Brad's attention to detail. Gene Birch is the A team!!!!!!!!

Brad provided us an estimate for the repairs to our drain lines. He was very good at communicating what was going to occur and their estimate was precise and although his estimate was in the middle of three qualified local contractors, he explained everything well and we decided to go with them. When my water heater stopped working Gene Burch was able to send Ivan C. that day. As it was 10 years old I opted to purchase a new one rather than replace the starter and Ivan installed it that afternoon, bringing it up to current code standards. He was friendly and courteous and got the job done in what seemed like a relatively short time considering everything that went into it. My permit arrived in the mail about three weeks later and the inspection was signed off without any corrections. A great experience all around!

I am going to update my review here. I heard from Anne, who apologized for the way I was addressed by an office employee, and who refunded the membership fees I had paid for Gene's Team. More importantly, I now feel fairly certain no customer will encounter the hostility I did, when I called with my issue. Like I said before, the guys who write estimates and/or carry out repairs and installations are top notch, and I do recommend them.

I have been getting estimates for a heatpump. The Gene Burch estimator recommended a smaller furnace than I currently have. I asked why and if the smaller furnace would do the job, I didn't understand his first explanation. When I asked again, he got very angry and said ""They don't pay me enough..."" to have my recommendations disputed. He then stomped out. I was quite distressed. I called the office manager was very surprised and said she would speak to him. I asked for a different estimator and had an appointment today and no one showed up. With this very negative experience, no real apology and no follow-up, I would never use this company!

If I could give this place, zero stars I would. On two separate occasions, they canceled my appointment the morning of the appointment. In general I would be understanding of it, but they were so rude to me on the phone and so dismissive that I have to warn anyone considering working with this company to take heed. Most of us have jobs and work all day. And when we are given a window of time to be at our homes to meet the technician, we must leave work and make accommodations for other things. On two separate occasions, I did that. And on both occasions they canceled just minutes or hours before the scheduled time of the appointment. and again, if they were sympathetic or kind or decent on the telephone, that would've gone along way. But the scheduler was so rude and so dismissive that I cannot bring myself to recommend this business.

My elderly mom is housebound due to a medical condition, so when our furnace died last weekend, it was urgent that we get a replacement ASAP. Of the four places I called, Gene Burch had the quickest response, the most thorough evaluation, and, by far, the best price. Estimator Tae was knowledgable, courteous, and kind. He was able to get our unit installed unbelievably quickly, for which we are SO grateful. Martin came out to do the installation, and was so efficient and friendly. Maria in the office was helpful and responsive. GB turned around a really stressful situation for us, and we can't thank them enough. Ten stars!

Can I leave six stars? OK, three hours ago our AC went on the fritz with the temp outside hovering at 110F. I put in a call to Gene Burch, and dispatch said they could get someone out by tomorrow afternoon. Given the heat wave I figured that was good as it was going to get. I was wrong.

A callback just a few minutes later let me know that Alfredo was in the neighborhood and would call me as he neared. 20 minutes later, I greeted Alfredo at the door and pointed him to the failing unit, along with the error message that the Nest thermostat had indicated.

Alfredo opens up the outdoor unit, pokes around for a minute or so, and quickly diagnoses and repairs the problem - a capacitor that had shorted out because it was touching another part. A quick trip to the truck, a new bracket, and the AC roared back to life!

After a quick check of the forced air unit in the attic, he was on his way and I had signed up for their monthly membership as well.

KUDOS to Gene Burch for greatly exceeding my expectations for when the technician would arrive, and A BIG shout out to Alfredo, who got the job done quickly and with a smile on his face, reassuring me all the way.

It always pays to shop local!
