The plumber was rude and had an absolutely terrible attitude; stay away from this company.

We had someone named Josh from this terrible company come to our place last month to take a look at our heater/AC unit because we requested a quote.

After going up on the roof he came downstairs and spoke to my wife and I. He gave us an estimate on what it would cost to fix the unit (he said it would be around $450) and said that he'd call the next morning to give us an official repair quote as well as a quote for how much it would be to replace the unit.

He did not call me the next day. Instead, we found an old business card jammed into the front door in the evening stating that ""heater is fixed. Bill will be in the mail. Thank you. Merry Christmas!"" Not only did he not call us nor ask us what we wanted to do, he did the repair work (allegedly-we do not know for sure) and scribbled a hand-written note on an old business card saying that we would get stuck paying a bill!!!

This person Josh then called us after we complained and stated that both my wife and I had authorized him to do the work, which he had not. We did not authorize any payment whatsoever.

We refuse to pay this bill and have sent them emails but no one has yet to respond.

Never do business with this company, they are an untrustworthy business and should be ashamed of how they represent themselves in the community.

I've been a customer for many years, however, over the past years, I think they've gotten complacent about their work. They've been to the house a few times recently to fix things,but it's never fixed for good and I paid a lot of money. Unfortunately I may need to look for a new plumber which saddens me as they used to be so good. Not sure who's ""watching the store"" anymore as quality has decreased.

I have used Gem many times in the past. They have always been prompt but expensive. Most recently I used them to clear an area drain clogged with roots. I think a sub contractor may have been used but can't say for sure. After the drain was cleared I asked for a price to scope the drain with a camera. What I heard was $50.00 which sounded more than reasonable. I gave the go-ahead.

The work was successfully completed. The drain was cleared and the camera inspection revealed 40' of cracked line. I asked for a bill and and an estimate to repair the drain.. The plumber said a bill would be sent. I didn't get the full price which was a rookie mistake on my part.

The bill arrives and the cost of the inspection, to my surprise, was 200.00! A 150.00 discrepancy. When I called to question the bill I was told the minimum charge for a camera inspection was 275.00 and that I had gotten a break on the cost. No explanation was given for the discount.

It's possible that I didn't hear the price correctly so I'll write this off as my mistake but won't be using them again.

They were suppose to be here between 1 and 5 p.m. When I called at 4:45 p.m. to see if they were coming, a very rude woman told me I would have to wait until 5:00 before they would even do anything. After that rude response, I never bothered calling.

And they never bothered showing up. You wonder how this company stays in business.

These guys are great!! Called about a main drain problem at noon. 2:30 everything done. That is what I call service.

Dave Pedroza and his entire team at GEM Plumbing are wonderful professionals. We had many projects recently from a main line sewer needing replacement to a furnace needing upgrades to installing fixtures.
GEM Plumbing got to work quickly, did exceptional work, and all at reasonable prices.
We highly recommend GEM Plumbing for all plumbing and heating/air conditioning jobs big and small.

I'll use these guys again. GEM has provided me with both plumbing and HVAC services, which I've been very pleased with. W/re HVAC, among other things, they sealed the leaks in my flex duct work (caused by other tradesmen while under the house) and balanced the flow with new and existing dampers. The plumbers have helped with issues ranging from water heater to irrigation repair and gas line extension. They work hard, clean up thoroughly and communicate well.

When we had tub trouble with our out-of-area rental property, Gem Plumbing was our first call.

The home was recently re-built and effectively a brand new build. The trouble report came in that after a bath, water was leaking from under the tub and flooding the bath/bedroom. Gem Plumbing came out to address the problem and couldn't identify it. Ultimately stating that they'd return with a camera to see what the problem was.

They returned as promised with a camera that was too large. Funny can't you buy those for $25 now? Anyways, their professional recommendation was to jack-hammer the entire bathroom floor and pull out the tub/shower. This would require the coordination of several trades outside of Gem for tile work, etc.

Needless to say, this was worth a trip for us to see for ourselves. My husband arrived and............

1) pulled the drain plug of the tub and discovered there was no piping attached.
2) created an access panel behind the tub and saw that the plumbing from the tub had never been fully connected (actually no plumbing at all between tub drain pipe and street piping).
3) purchased necessary parts to connect drain pipe to street pipe (which was capped)
4) closed access panel

It's amazing to us that Gem didn't pull the drain plug which would have easily identified the problem. The entire episode took my husband longer to drive to the rental than actually diagnose and fix the problem.

Gem Plumbing neglected to do what could only be consider common sense diagnosis which would have cost our family THOUSANDS of unnecessary dollars. Thankfully my husband is a zillion time smarter than Gem and was able to diagnose and fix the problem within a few hours time (included running for parts) and a few dollars.

If your wondering why the builder, ourselves and tenants didn't notice this problem right away. When used as a shower or during testing the drainage worked fine as the water would run into the cavity below the tub and seep away. Whereas when draining an entire tub full of water flooded the cavity and caused the overflow under the tub and across the floor.

This is strictly a review and choose your own vendor at your own risk but for me, any plumbing company that couldn't pull the drain plug and see that there was no pipes attached should get a second look.

Shame on you Gem Plumbing for your poor diagnosis and ill-regard for the costs of the consumer. Jack-hammering the entire bathroom???? Shhhhhhsh

They quoted the job for one price. When we got the bill, it was OUTRAGEOUS. They overcharged on the parts, had another guy show up adding $60 per hour to the already $98 per hour we were quoted. They charged for work they DIDN'T DO. When we called to complain, the owner tried to justify the overcharges. There is no excuse for what they did other than they totally ripped us off. They've lost us as a valued customer. Now we know why there's so many negative reviews. We will NEVER refer them to anyone again.
