Did not show up when they said they would. Didn't even call. Very unprofessional and a wasted day.

In summary, this company has a space for it but maybe not for major projects or expensive projects. The positives with them are that the people are courteous and nice. From Ido (owner) to Idan (PM) to workers, they were very nice and were good people. Also, we added a few items after the project started and they were flexible. They also repainted our cabinets a darker blue after the first go-around. So, this is not a criticism on the people but rather the quality of work with the tile and grout guys. The tile and grout guys are just not that good. Also, throughout the process, the different specialties were not coordinated well. Oftentimes, we would not know who would be coming, if someone would be coming and when someone was expected. Our project started out as a bathroom renovation with switching the configuration of our tub and placing it within the shower area. It is/was a large job. This involved all of the fixtures, countertop, ventilating fan, glass doors and tiling being removed. Plus, the walls would be repainted and new hardie-backer on the walls and floor. There was also new drains created. Initially, there was a delay on us because they found that water had penetrated through the stucco because the house had shifted causing black mold and unrelated termites. So, after having insurance take a look at it, getting the termites abated, mold abated and removing the rotted wood and plywood backing and insulation, we were ready to rock and roll. Oh yeah, insurance was a waste of time - so all out of pocket. Starting from this point is where our complaints start. The bathroom was ready starting March 29 for work. Then, mysteriously no one showed up - no communications and nothing. Well, all told, it is now June 25 and the bathroom is mostly done with some "minor" touch-ups left. I'll break down the individual aspects of the job.

For the last three months, it has been someone is coming - oh, wait, someone will not be coming and there was no certainty about most anything. The most troubling aspect of the work they did was the tile work, which were super expensive because we had to get mosaic tiles. Why? Because one shower wall was curved. These ended up being around $20 per square foot. They wasted quite a bit in cutting and mistakes. Then, they are all dull now because the terrible grout guy just spread it everywhere and someone else came to scrub off the excess tile. These beautiful tiles with a nice sheen now look old and dingy. My biggest recommendation to anyone considering is if you have nice tiles or nice tile work, the folks they were using were not good. Probably a little better than someone you can find at a Home Depot parking lot. Recently, when I sent pictures to Ido about it, he said it is all touch up and he cannot tell what he was looking at. Well, it was grout on tiles, dulled tile and schlutter that is misaligned and sharp edges which with two little kids is a terrible idea. What should have been my warning is that I specifically purchased epoxy grout and Idan wanted to know why. Simply, we saw what regular grout looked like in the house (part of the reason for the tile removal) and we did not want it. He said it was difficult to work with and I asked if his guys were experienced with epoxy grout and he said yes, but I could tell they did not want to do it. So, we caved and used a different type of Mapei grout. To top off everything, the main tile guy (boss) screwed up and made the walls hexagonal instead of a curve. So, when we asked him, he apologized and Idan apologized but said that it would add two more days onto the project and that it looked nicer corners and not a curve. It does not (even now) and we should have stuck to our wants but we were trying to get the project done before we were having family come into town a few weeks later. Dumb and dumber on my part. So now, we spent a bunch of money on mosaic tile, we have walls with corners instead of a curve and they damaged most of the tile because the grout guy is terrible. I will repeat the grout guy is TERRIBLE. Another issue is the garbage - for multiple months, we have not been able to use 1/2 of our garage because it was filled with garbage. Only when we complained about it did they actually remove the garbage. In the interim, there was drywall pieces along the side of our house on the ground and along the wall. The balcony outside of our master bedroom has been unusable since early March because they were cutting tiles there and left all the equipment there. The guy who came and picked up the garbage was super nice guy. Of course, he broke a glass piece because of the old shower door and did not tell us. So, we only realized that happened after one of our six-year olds picked up a "crystal" in our driveway asking where it came from. So, had to blow the garage of broken glass and also our driveway. It was not just a few pieces either.

I selected GEI to remodel 2 and 1/2 baths and replace the tile in my front entryway and fireplace surround. They remodeled 1 and 1/2 baths and I cancelled the work on the second full bathroom. The project was poorly managed - work was performed an average of 1-2 days per week over the course of the project.
** The plumbers and finishers (painters)) were professional and did good work. The bath & 1/2 bath that they remodeled were acceptable after trim was placed over bad visible cuts in the tile. Also everything was not completed per the GEI contract: no shelves were built or installed in the full bath, and the towel bar and toilet tissue holder were not installed.
The tile installed on the entryway floor was substandard. After I complained, Ido asked for the full payment for the work on the bath and 1/2 bath, leaving no recourse to ensure that the work was performed to satisfaction. Some corrections to the tile were made but the floor trim around the fireplace was not replaced and the tile in the entryway was installed sitting "ABOVE the trim with the side of the tiles exposed." Ido indicated he could not match the color of the trim to replace the trim and that he could add an additional piece of trim to cover the exposed sides of the tiles. No correction was made to the exposed tiles. The tile installers were unprofessional and did sloppy work, leaving grout on my front door and tracked my hardwood floors. The tilework and finishing performed by GEI was sloppy and not acceptable. After GEI left the tiles exposed, I hired another Craftsman to complete the work that GEI did not complete and replaced the trim around the tiles that GEI left exposed in my entryway. The trim was removed and replaced to cover the sides of the exposed tiles. I have additional photos of the sloppy GEI tilework and poor finishes.

Review updated 7.3.2021- mold growing on based boards. Employee said he would come to fix it, but never showed up. Beware.

Pay attention to the other reviews. Most of them only have 1 review (the one they wrote for this company). Be careful.

Our experience was decent. Not excellent and not terrible.

Drawbacks:

I think the company promises more than they can deliver and then fall behind.

There was a lot of miscommunication between myself and the general contact or (i.e. he says he can do one thing on a Thursday, doesn't deliver or follow up on that Thursday)

Things agreed upon in the beginning were later used as excuses as to why the project was delayed for three weeks.

Drywall work and painting had to be redone at least twice and it is still not done correctly as I write this.

Positives:

Every worker was respectful of our space/home
Professional handling of payment
Tried to offer extras within budget
Tried his best to make us happy

Overall, I would say use this company with caution. Be sure that the work is done correctly the first time and request regular updates (in writing) on when the work will be complete.
