I don't like giving poor reviews, but I do believe that Gary's Plumbing was trying to rip me off.

I had read that getting a water line hooked up to your refrigerator would cost between $150-$300. Called Gary's and they sent a guy out who looked at everything, and gave me a quote of $875, and said it would take 2 - 3 hours. I decided not to go with that, paid there $50 inspection fee, and sent him on his way.

Later called someone from Eagle plumbing, and they couldn't believe the price I was quoted. They came out, and in 20 minutes had my fridge all hooked up for $182, and it works great.

I can understand a higher price tag for good, quality work... but a near $700 difference, that is ludicrous.

Had a great experience w/ Gary's recently, and they didn't even end up doing any work. In fact, that's why it was a great experience. Long story short, due to a mix-up w/ the city, we thought we needed some work done to allow us to shut off our water without getting into the crawlspace. Gary's gave us a quote for the work, but later helped us figure out that we didn't really need it. They were totally gracious about it, and didn't charge us for the 2nd visit. The price quoted wasn't the cheapest ever, but with this kind of integrity and service, it's worth it in my book. Will definitely call them again when I need something done.

Not above being dishonest with a disabled widow? Really?

I called Gary's twice due to a clogged toilet. The first time they cleared the lines and charged $200. Two days before Christmas the same thing happened again & I was told I needed 3 new toilets and the cost would be about $1300.00. Ouch.

Second opinion: I learned that toilets have date stamps (!) one was put installed in 2009 (photo), another 1998. Because the house was vacant for nearly a year, there was some buildup. ""Not a big deal.""

Solution: One toilet fill valve ($21.00) and two jugs of CLR ($14.00). All three toilets now work better than they ever have.

Am posting photos - 1) estimate 2) price of $400.00 toilet at Hardware Sales is $89.00
3) date stamp of '30 year old toilet,' and ... the $48.00 fix ..

Seriously.

My wife and I had Gary's come out and do the annual service on our furnace. Their techs were knowledgeable and friendly. They were respectful of our property and were careful and clean. They did an excellent job. The price they charged was in line with what most of the other respectable companies in town are charging. I would highly recommend them.

The work was good but the price was outrageous. He replaced the little plastic piece in the air gap for my dishwasher, which was exactly what I asked them to do. He was in an out the door in less than 20 minutes, only part would be less than $20 at Home Depot. The charge was just under $300! Work with people in the industry. Their word for the charge was outrageous. I called and asked to talk about the bill. Was told owner would have to call me back. Never did.

My water heater electrical system caught on fire last night. Great response time from the Bellingham Fire Department. Called Gary's Plumbing in the morning after reading reviews and I am very happy I chose them to install the heater. Although Shane was happy to come over immediately after my call to install a new one, he worked around my schedule to set the installation time in the afternoon to my choosing. I was impressed by his personable demeanor and the efficient professional job, including explaining information I never knew about water heaters. ... Thank you Shane.

I called Gary's to have a faucet and dishwasher installed. I was told of the $40 service call fee, which I was fine with. Until I got the actual quote which was for $906. When I asked how long he expected the work to take, I was told ""about an hour and a half or two hours"". This is what I was quoted: Dishwasher install (w/customer supplied parts) - $350. Install Delta B4310LF-SS Faucet - $443 (this faucet is available at homedepot.com, full price for $153). In what universe does a plumbing contractor charge $272.57 per hour of labor? I wasn't interested in the least expensive, just fair. Be careful of dumping your $40 into a quote that is going to be exorbitant.

Pretty impressed which doesn't happen often. Jimmy was fantastic and really made me feel like spending the kind of money I did was appropriate and fair. He was a lil late but at least they compensated with a fair discount. Looking forward to working with jimmy in the future

Outrageously expensive. We were told that the service call would be $199 and I (erroneously) assumed this would include labor. We'd had to turn off the water so we're really in a hard place. A half hour visit to replace a broken faucet cost $600.

Fast service, problem seems to be taken care of, but I thought the price was absurd. They charged over $300 for a job that took about 30 minutes.
