Terrible family own company. Really gives a black eye to family owned companies that take pride in there work as well as service.

Don't show up for scheduled appts, don't return customers calls. And the excuses given as to why they didn't show up.its ,just out right dishonest. Why even tell your customers you'll call back at a specific time, when you have no intention of doing so?
Potential customers, you've been warned
My opinion ,they deserve 0 out of 5

I have used Aube to install fixtures and related plumbing for two kitchen sinks, two bathroom sinks, and two bathtubs/showers. They did a fantastic job each time. I have dealt with a lot of plumbers in my lifetime, but none as good as Aube.

I realize this is very long review, but wanted the public to understand all aspects regarding my negative experience Aube Plumbing of Falmouth, ME.
In July of 2019, I had a minor issue with the flow switch on my Biasi Boiler which caused my hot water to respond intermittently when engaged. I called Aube plumbing after having used them previously for another small job to assist. Craig arrived the next morning and installed the part in a very short period of time. My hot water was working again, I paid him a reasonable sum, and everything was fine. I inquired about a cleaning for the 2 year old unit and he said that these were bad units and are not worth cleaning. He said just run it until it dies and replace it or something to that effect. This struck me as odd, but my hot water was working so I wasn't worried about it at that point.
Fast forward to October 2019. The temperature in the house was declining so I turned on my heat for the first time of the year and went to bed. I woke up to a house close to 50 degrees, so I knew something was wrong. After a bit of novice troubleshooting, I realized that the valves to my two heating zones had never been reopened after Craig performed his work. I texted Craig a picture of the valves in the state he had left them in he confirmed that they needed to be opened. I opened them and my heat started up immediately. I learned later that valves closed against a running pump is called dead heading. They had been in this state for 10-12 hours.
The next day my boiler started again working intermittently, similar to my original issue in July. At the time, I didn't consider the aforementioned dead heading being a potential cause. I thought that it might be the flow switch again. Based on my previous odd experience with Aube and this boiler brand, I thought it might be best to get someone else to look at it. I contacted the distributor to see if they had a local company that they could recommend and had them come and take a look. I mentioned before that it had been working intermittently, and unfortunately when the other company arrived it was working properly. They performed a very basic service to see if they could see what was causing the issue. During the visit I casually mentioned the dead heading and the tech's eyes lit up with shock. He couldn't believe that the circulator pump hadn't failed during the night, and forecasted that it would probably fail soon. He said he could hear a slight noise in it, but couldn't tell if this was damage. The next day my boiler stopped working completely. This new tech came out and confirmed the pump had failed. He said if I were him that he would be requesting that Aube fix this at his expense. This is day 2 without heat or hot water.
I called Aube that afternoon to explain what had happened. He said very quickly that he would look to see about getting the part and get back to me. It was later in the afternoon on a Friday, and I got a little anxious after not hearing from him for an hour. I offered via text to go pick up the part before the supply house closed if he were to order it to try to get my heat on before the weekend. After some coy claims of confusion on his part, I called and said that I am told by other professionals that your error with the valves caused this part to fail. I said that I thought that he should replace this at his cost. His demeanor changed significantly. He was seeking any reason to absolve himself from responsibility. (i.e. the other company should fix it, not his problem, ""this isn't how the world works', etc.) He ultimately said that if I bought the $385 part that he would install it for me, I assume accepting some responsibility. I don't know what I was thinking considering the man that caused this mess to work on my boiler again, but I did. At this point the supply house was closed. We agreed that I would go before work on Monday morning to pick up and pay for the part and he would install it that day. Monday would mark day 5 without heat or hot water. I reconfirmed with him on Sunday that this was still the plan. He said he had a job Monday morning and would be over later. A vagueness consistent with most of his communication.
I picked up the part at 7am and texted him to confirm and asked when he would be over. No response. I texted him again at 3pm. He responded that he still had a few hours at the other jobs. When I asked if he would still be doing it that day, his response was ""if I finish at a decent hour"". At this point it was clear that he had no urgency to fix his error, and I wasn't willing to continue to wait. At 5:15 that day I told him to forget it and called another company to perform an emergency install of the part.
At the end of the day, Aube's mistake cost me $700 and a lot of aggravation over a 5 day span without heat, showers, and many other luxuries that I had taken for granted. His indifference and condescending attitude prompted this review.

Very poor service at a high price. We ar new to the area and feel we were taken advantage of, as told by other local plumbers. Owner is very unprofessional, lazy and has bad work ethics.

My low rating is due to very poor owner to customer communication and failure to provide an itemized bill when a very high bill arrived without informing what the labor was vs. cost of materials. Calling to request assistance with a short span hot water issue when in shower was initially met with polite and prompt service. When following up to inquire about what had been done, as no invoice or call came to advise me what work was done, I left a detailed voice msg asking for a callback. Several days passed, no call came. I called back and was told that the owner was away and would call me the next week. I have not heard a word. My research into the parts noted on the bill was under 100.00, the bill was 425.00. My research into the time to complete the process to replace this part was under an hour. So... 325.00 for labor. As I have not heard from owner or received an itemized bill, I am left to post this so others will inquire, prior to hiring this company about their billing practices.

Work was for the most part very good, but communication was poor and billing policies non-existent. Small things not done, such as clearing slow drains. Expect to pay more than the top limit, and don't expect a return call if you question the cost. $2400 for less than 7 hours and materials, but I couldn't tell you the breakdown as my call was not returned.

I was in desperate need of a plumber for a real mess of a job. The men showed up to assess, and even when they realized the scope of the job (we didn't even have a working water shut off valve due to a freeze up) they just started working on fixing everything that was wrong. They had to do a lot of repiping, a lot of maneuvering in small spaces, you name it, they had to do it. They were amazing, and I am certain that no one else would have taken on this task, and been fair. They came in under the estimate, and I would recommend them to anyone in need of an honest plumber willing to do what it takes to get your family's water running again. Many thanks for the services you all provided to us!

This is the third time I've used Darling Plumbing and Heating and I can't say enough about how happy I am with their service! I called their answering service at 7am on a Saturday of a holiday weekend. They called me back by 9am, came to my house at 11am and finished the repair at 11:50am!!! I've previously used Darling and received a call back from the owner Tim who would try to trouble-shoot the problem over the phone to save me the expense of a house call. Very good company!
