Last week I discovered a water leaked in the basement. I contacted WSSC who verified the leak came from the water pipe on the property and its was my responsibility to repair/replace. I contacted home insurance and was told they do not cover outside water leaks into the house and suggested getting 4 to 5 quotes from local area plumbers for the repair. Faced with a mini disaster I contacted close to a 7 local plumbers. One after the other provided their estimate and description of what needed to be done. Their descriptions were generally same however the cost range varied from one end of the football field to the other. Like a determined consumer I spent hours researching terms such as trench vs trenchless, copper vs PVC/PEX, etc. and concluded the water pipe replacement was not an overly complex process but depended largely on the plumber's experience, knowledge, and integrity. After numerous follow-up calls and visits by plumbers I've become quite familiar with their sales pitch and what they can do for me. Until I came across Ron Smith of Gaithersburg Plumbing, Inc. Initially, I was skeptical due to my researching for the ""best plumber..."" online. However, I listening attentively to what he had to say, and noticed that he was direct, straight to the point, reasonable cost estimate and personally took ownership to ensure that the repair process will be successful. As scheduled his engineering team arrived on site and immediately started working. Within minutes Ron Smith showed up and talked to his team and came to me to explain what was being done, how long it will take. He asked if I had any questions or concerns to call him anytime. Halfway through the process Ron Smith showed up again and talked to his team and inform me they will be done shortly and will contact WSSC to review and approve the work done. This morning bright and early the team returned and filled and level the trench and replaced the grass sod over work area and I could hardly see where they dug the trench at all. I called Gaithersburg Plumbing, Inc and thanked them for a job well done by Ron Smith and his team.

Absolutely NOT recommended! Very weird experience.
After two of the four toilets in my house were making noises, I requested service from my Home Warranty company.
They sent Gaithersburg Plumbing. After checking both toilets, the service man told me that the water pressure in the house was too high. He asked me whether other toilets are making noises and they were not. Still, he insisted that the water pressure valve is deficient and needed replacement. He called first the home warranty company to see whether this is covered. It was not. And the company representative explained that it is now up to me to repair the water valve and I can choose to do so through Gaithersburg Plumbing or another company of my choice, knowing that I still have to pay the service call of $75 for the ""diagnostic visit"" regardless of how I decide to proceed. Which I was aware of.
But then the Gaithersburg Plumbing serviceman started talking about a charge for the visit, regardless of any repair, saying that the visit was not covered by home warranty, and he kept on trying to get the home warranty representative to say that the visit was not covered, while she kept telling him that all what is due now is the $75 visit charge, unless he did some repair, which he did not. After hanging up with the home warranty person, he repeated that he will bill me for the visit, other than the $75, without specifying why and what for. After about half an hour of arguing, I had to ask him to leave my house and that I refuse to pay him anything except the service call visit which is the $75.
It was obvious he was trying to scam me.

I was referred to Gaithersburg Plumbing by a friend--I need a new water heater. They came the day I called. After they removed my water heater and installed a new one , it was after 9pm. When I went to use my water it was warm, not hot. A worker came the next day and adjusted the temperature. I noticed white stains on my deck in front of where the water heater is stored. Also, there were footprints on my kitchen floor where the workers had walked. I had to use bleach and a scrub brush to remove the stains. Today an inspector came fro the City of Rockville to inspect the work that Gaithersbug Plumbing had done (this is standard procedure). I noticed a chain hanging from the top of the door jamb. The inspector said it should have been attached to the door to keep it from hitting my deck railing. I have a six year manufacturer warranty. If I need service, I will not call Gaithersburg Plumbing!!

Fine job on replacement of my home water heater under AHS warranty. The scheduler was polite and efficient, as were the estimator and installer plumbers. Everyone showed up when they said they would and finished on time. I had a set of code upgrades to do and the estimator explained these in detail and worked through the warranty claim without complaint. The installing plumber did a nice job and it passed the WSSC's inspection - and mine.

Yeah, by local hardware store he means Home Depot. His own technician recommended I buy the parts at Home Depot or Lowe's since my wife and I were not interested in the parts he had to sell. Stupidly, I would have paid a little more to have these guys come back and complete the job. But not after the phone conversation I had with the ""manager"". I don't know if the ""manager"" I spoke with was the owner or just someone who works at this establishment, but I'm sorry, in what world is it OK for a businessperson to scream and yell at a customer?

Judge for yourself. Read the other reviews of this company. There is one fantastic review. Probably written by someone who works for this company. All the other reviews are bad.

After reading the review below about the yard being dug up and everything, I'm so glad I didn't follow Gaithersburg Plumbing's suggestion to replace my entire well line. It was mostly because I couldn't afford almost $3,000 they wanted to charge. I have a well line the comes in through the basement ceiling and it developed a tiny crack that allowed a deluge of water to break through the ceiling and caused all kinds of damage before we were able to shut it off. A guy came that evening for emergency service and all he did was turn the breakers off that turned off the water and make a lot of phone calls to who I assume was his supervisor. They charged me the $185 after-hours emergency service plus another $100 for this guy to try to figure out what to do for an hour. He said he'd have to come back the next morning because it was now late in the evening and he didn't have the part.

He came back with someone else in the morning and they replaced a one foot section of the well line that had a crack in it. It probably took about fifteen minutes to do this. They said I might want to replace the entire line out to the well because it is very old and could crack somewhere else. They spend the rest of their time at my house measuring for the well line and working up an estimate. When they said it would cost $2,800 to replace the entire line (and this would have involved digging up my brick patio), I said thank you very much, but I can't afford that. They charged me $305 for the service they performed to replace the one foot of well line. If I hadn't been so traumatized by the whole event of seeing a large part of my beautifully finished my basement destroyed, I probably would have objected to paying this amount for what they did.

The worst part is that after about a week, we noticed a small amount of water was dripping from where one of the clamps held the replacement part of the line in. I called Gaithersburg Plumbing and the receptionist argued with me that they had recommended I replace the entire line. It took me awhile to make her understand that it was merely a suggestion and the leak was coming from the part they replaced, not anywhere else in the line. She finally scheduled someone to come out to look at it. He was in a big hurry and repeated the company line. He tightened it quickly and left.

We thought it had stopped leaking but then noticed there is still a small amount of water coming out. I called and left a message (this was after hours) and said I was going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and was going to contact another plumber. They never even bothered to call me to make an effort to make it right. A plumber from another company came to my home today and said the problem is that they did not use a torch wrench while the line was warm to seal it. They also used a slightly larger piece (in width) than the original line. This plumber was from my home warranty company and they would not cover this work so he did not do anything else. He also was not comfortable doing this type of work. I have another plumber coming out tomorrow.

There as a time that I would have given Gaithersburg Plumbing an A+ rating, I had several good experiences with them a few years back, but that time is gone. They get an F. I would never allow anyone from that company into my home again. I will report them to the BBB after I have a report from the plumber that comes to my house tomorrow. As responsible consumers, we should not accept unethical and shoddy work.

Wow! You guys saved me a ton of money and were courteous and clean too! Thank you!!! When my basement started leaking water because of a pipe leak in the yard, Gaithersburg Plumbing came out quickly and gave an accurate, reasonable estimate. They were 1/3 the cost of other companies!!!! They arrived when they said they would, they did a nice job and were carefully not to break tree limbs or do any unnecessary damage to my yard. The workers were clean and polite even though my basement was a mess. I can't thank them enough for their honesty and professionalism.

Nasty attitudes and horrible services is where to begin.
My mother went through her home insurance company to have some work done on her pipes. The worker who came out was quite unprofessional, he wanted her to accept damaged goods with no explanation. There were two other jobs that needed to be done as well and he told her he couldn't do them. After calling the insurance we found out that was false information. The worker joked that no matter how hard she complained she'd have to accept the damaged water heater regardless, we spoke with the receptionist who told us the same thing.
My mother rescheduled her appointment because she wanted the opportunity to learn the policy from her insurance on damaged new goods. While my mother's appointment was set for two days later, this will be the second time she's taken off work. She sat and waited all day and once the window ended there was no one there, she called and was informed that her appointment had be canceled. Not by her but by someone there who they would say. We figured it was because she didn't want the bented heater and they thought it would be funny to make things difficult for her. She once again recshduled, this time she gets a call on the appointment day saying no one is coming bacause they failed to order her part of one of the other jobs she needed. Yet again another ploy to get under our skin.
After an hour on the phone complaining to our insurance company we were informed that it would be okay to have the heater because there is an inner and outer container on the unit and it comes with a six year warranty. So we had the appointment for yesterday and we got the call that they're not coming yet again because two of their workers called out and everyone else was busy. So now they're coming on Monday the 14th. We have noted on our account that we never want them in our home again after this job!!!
I'd advise you all to save you're the trouble an anguish DONT EVER USE THIS S COMPANY THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE OF A PHONE CALL!!!!! I'd also give them NO stars if I could.

What a joke! Do not call them for anything! I have American Home Shield and was sent this company because my facet would not shut off. The guy looked at it and not 5 minutes later said you need a new cartridge, should take 2 to 4 days to receive. He left without trying to adjust the facet so the water was not pouring out. Eight days later I called Gaithersburg Plumbing back and the woman said oh, yeah that part is no longer made so you need a new faucet. I was furious! Mostly because of the water that was being wasted! She said yeah and the technician said you don't have access to the facet from the back so YOU'LL have to create an access panel. I said I WILL HAVE TO?? She said well AHS does not cover that but we can do it; but you will have to pay for it. I said I would NEVER let Gaithersburg Plumbing back into my house. I got a contractor friend who knows a plumber to come over and he took OFF the facet and adjusted the mechanism in the back to at least stop the leak. He also said it was an American Standard and can be replaced from the front! What the...??? So Gaithersburg Plumbing was going to cash in from both AHS and Me!

Horrible service. Poor communication from the company. Would never use them again. The people you speak to can be quite rude and not customer centered.
