Based in Gaithersburg, MD, GAC Services is a residential cooling, heating, plumbing, and electrical contractor setting new benchmarks in the Maryland HVAC and electrical industry. Since our inception in 1970, we have earned a strong reputation for providing reliable cooling and heating services throughout Montgomery County and Frederick County. In 2014, we expanded our range of services to incorporate electrical work, allowing us to deliver the same high-quality service to our customers in a new field.
Tony Petrolle joined GAC as a warehouse helper in 1991 and has worked his way up to become the General Manager of GAC Services.

GAC is exceptional in every aspect. Not the least expensive, but fairly priced for the professional, highly trained techs (like ""Freddie"") and the high quality service they provide. I had GAC install new HVAC's last year, and have an annual service contract with GAC--worth every penny! I highly recommend GAC for those who appreciate exemplary service.
D B.I was recommended GAC Services by American Pest Control in Rockville (240-406-4423), who I've had service my home for a couple of years. I now have an appointment with GAC and they were friendly and easy to set up the appointment. I'll update my review after they service my HVAC unit.
I just called to schedule my bi-annual service, thinking I was doing this at a good time, nice and early. I was expecting an appointment in a couple week, the scheduler immediately said we are scheduling the end October and then said the first available was on Nov. 1st, 4+ weeks. She then went on to say I should schedule my winter cleaning when I have my summer service don, not sure about anyone else, but have a hard time scheduling something months in advance. I have the contract, which probably will not be renewed, otherwise I would have called someone else. I'm not sure the annual plan is worth while, the costs seems high compared to competitors and I agree with others that they want to sale replacements units with no other justification than it is over 10 years old. Additionally, the last maintenance visit, they did not set the flows right and I had to change them to a summer configuration. I will say that their techs are very nice and professional, I'm sure they are pushed to up sale units and additional add on devices/services.
I purchased a yearly service contract for both my heating and cooling systems for approximately $300. I recently had the cooling checked and the technician said that everything looked ""fantastic"" and no repairs were needed. He was at the house for a total of 20 minutes. Two weeks later, the AC went out and I went through my home warranty company for repairs (since GAC no longer works with home warranty companies!). They said that the Freon was low and the capacitor was blown. The new company said that the technician from GAC should have noticed the level of the Freon two weeks ago. I sincerely feel like GAC was waiting for the system to run out of Freon and was banking on that I would call them. I feel like I was robbed. My family has been using this company since the 1990's, but I will never call them again.

I use them for my HVAC and now electrical needs and have been extremely satisfied with all of the interactions we have had. They are one of the best businesses I have had the pleasure to work with over the years. Therefore, I would highly recommend (and have done so with friends and neighbors) their services.
Great service and great people to work with. Got the problem with my air conditioner solved when another company couldn't. I highly recommend them.
We have a service maintenance contract, they come twice a year to maintain our system. This service is OK, can't complain. The last time service was performed, I was presented with a bill for $295. I was puzzled, but since my wife signed the agreement, I paid the bill, my wife then told me that we should not be paying for anything. I called them, they said because of this and that ( mostly BS) they beed to install a Run Capacitor, that was the $295 for. I happen to be an engineer, owner of a high tech engineering company, and I know what a Run Capacitor is, they are under $10 on ebay, shipping included.
Nick C.Had GAC come out to service my AC. The technician arrived on time. Everything went downhill from there. The technician quoted one price and then charged more. Every solution they offer involves replacing units at very high costs. We were about to shell out thousands and called another company that not only fixed our unit but did it substantially lower. GAC is very pleasant and arrive promptly but cost is a major component of clients experience. They fall very short. Spend wisely and shop around!
I needed two ceiling fans installed in my condo. There was no electricity previously in the ceilings. After getting a few quotes I decided to go with GAC. Their prices are very competitive and they are very organized. They know what they're talking about. Both ceiling fans were installed without any problems! They came out on time and I am very happy with the finished product. I would highly recommend GAC.
Wendy K.I have used GAC Services for Heating and A/C as well as Electrical in the last 6 months.
They installed heating and air conditioning on both floors of my home last Fall. I also had them fix the electric wires that warm my tile floor and fix a light and fan switch that had gone bad.
For the Heating and AC install, I had been using another company that told me nothing was wrong with my air conditioning but it wasn't cooling so that clearly wasn't correct. I called GAC Services.. they sent someone over immediately. The sales person, Fritz, was very knowledgeable and proposed alternatives that would meet my needs. He gave a great price and said he would rather not negotiate because he did already give me a great price. Comparing his price to others, he was lowest and had the system that appeared to be the best. My favorite feature was the ability to change the thermostat from Bryant Evolution's App on my iPhone. Then, I worked with GAC's office on rebates and payment. They were very professional and the invoice - which in the past when I've dealt with other contractors is ALWAYS incorrect - was completely correct. They sent out one of the company VPs to verify that the proposal was drafted properly and that the system would fit in the tiny area where the unit was being placed. He also checked the carbon monoxide and venting and made suggestions for an extra vent (which they installed) and another carbon monoxide detector. Then, install day came. They did a great, professional job. They were there on time, didn't disrupt my home more than they needed to and finished timely. The system is amazing and super efficient. I just had a 6 month check up that was included free with my purchase and the tech they sent, Jerry, did a great job on that as well. After everything was done, I received a phone call from one of the owners, Richard, asking if I was happy with the install and if there was anything else he could to do help.
I also used their Electrical division to do some work at my house. They were on time, professional and did a great job. I am getting ready to engage them to do some more work with outdoor lights.
I am a single mom and I get nervous when I hire contractors.. that they will send over creeps that are not safe. Every single person of the 10 or so I've had at my home from GAC Services was polite, professional, clean and a great representative for the company. I feel safe when they come over. They also do what they say they are going to do. They do an excellent job. I won't work with any other company on my heating, a/c or electrical needs.
