Arthur B.I called with a problem and he walked me through how to fix it. He could've taken advantage of the situation and charged me to come over but he was helpful and very familiar with my cast iron boiler system without even seeing it. Very impressed
Janice M.I had a very poor experience with GW Wagner. My hot water heater is leaking. It is not a standard chimney vented unit, but one with a ""power vent."" I called Wagner Plumbing and spoke with a very friendly and seemingly knowledgeable man named Anwar. I was very specific about the unit I needed and asked if they carry this unit - a 40 gallon, gas, power vented hot water heater. He told me they have 4 of them in stock and in fact he was looking at them at that moment. He gave me a ballpark estimate for the unit with installation of $2000 with the understanding that this could change based upon any installation complications. I happily scheduled installation visit for today. When the techs arrived (in a very timely fashion as promised,) and came with me to the basement, they stated they did not have the right unit and would have to call to see if they could get one. They had not been informed that I required a power vented unit. They did confirm that they could get one from their supplier, but did not know the price. I called Wagner and asked to speak with Anwar. The phone was answered by Glenn, the owner of GW Wagner plumbing. He stated there was a misunderstanding and he would get back to me with the price for the correct unit. His return call about 1/2 hour later shocked me with a new price of $4100. He restated that it was simply a misunderstanding. I'm not quite sure how the misunderstanding occurred when I clearly informed Anwar of the required unit. Needless to say, I was astounded by the price - more than double the quote. I have now lost a day of pay as I had to take the day out of work and have to start over with calls. I am very disappointed at the lack of accountability by the company owner.
Heather P.My kitchen sink was leaking very badly and it was clearly the drain that needed to be replaced. When I made the initial nin-emergent call, I inquired about prices. Glen told me that he charges $85 to come out to the house but said he couldn't give me any further estimate until he got into the job. When he called the morning of the scheduled appointment, I asked again for a ballpark figure so I could plan for payment accordingly. He still gave me no estimate. He arrived on time and confirmed that the drain needed to be replaced and proceeded to finish the job quickly. Glen clearly knows his stuff and got it done in less than 25 mins. After he fiished, he told me the total was $252 and that was with a discount (said he knocked off the $85 fee). I was floored and directly asked him how it could possibly be that much. He then told me he charges $225 an hour for labor. I let him know that it was not ok that he never mentioned his hourly rate until after the job was complete, especially since I had tried twice to establish pricing. He offered to get his book of flat rates to show me the cost of replacing a drain. He justified it by pointing to a line that quoted brass materials, I questioned him and told him it was not a brass. He continued to say it was. Y'all, this drain is not brass but he maintained his story! He then adjusted his pricing and only charged me $85 for the job, admitting that he should have shown me anticipated cost before beginning the work. Glen is nice enough and clearly skilled in his trade. But, I don't appreciate the sneaky, deceitful approach he demonstrated in several different ways--not at all professional! Unfortunately , I won't be using him again, nor will I be recommending him. Nobody likes to feel like they are being taken advantage of. I wonder how many people this works on--he seemed surprised that I called him out on his tactics. I do appreciate that he came good after I addressed it. Be aware of the surprise ""$225 hourly labor rate.""
Karina T.Glen came over after our boiler stopped working. We called him relatively late at night and he answered the phone right away. He also came early the next morning and was super friendly and knowledgeable. He even called to let us know he was on his way. Something not everyone does and was great appreciated.
We had just moved into the house and was our first time dealing with any heating issues. He even fixed issues that the seller of the house had missed doing and took care of those for us!
I had G W Wagner come out to my house to give me a quote on a botched attempt from a previous plumber. I asked the gentleman who came out how long it should take before I received a quote . He said he can't say for sure because his boss would be writing the estimate but should only be a few days. On day 5 I call the Company and the owner informs me he will have it to me on Monday (2 days from call . I wait until Tuesday and call him back he tells me he will send it over . He doesn't send it over .... On Thursday I text him to notify him of my displeasure with his service he calls me and was very unprofessional and offered no solutions to the problem instead he diverts from facts and tries to control the conversation into a different direction. Very Unprofessional and displeased with the time that I have wasted on this Company.
Diana C.During the 4th of July weekend, the hot water tank broke, flooded the basement, we didn't have a plumber to call so I took a chance and called G Wagner, he came out to my house within an hour, made sure everything was shut down and leak was under control, also needed a new hot water tank, Glen said he would call us in the morning with a price and see if he could get a new tank since it was a Saturday, he called around 9am with price, he came to my house with new tank, removed old tank, installed new one without any issues, We had hot water by 1pm on Saturday! If you are in need of a knowledgeable, professional, give G Wagner a call!! You won't be disappointed, added bonus he is also a Veteran and served our country!!!
Moira S.Great guy, great work! Glen did a wonderful job for me - saving me in the middle of the night before a huge winter storm when my boiler started pouring out boiling water. Did a solid fix and then came back a few days later to check up on things and replace a part he didn't have on him during the earlier midnight visit. Knows what he's doing, reasonable prices, there when you need him. Highly recommend.
Mark M.Glen was very good and professional. Though the price was a bit more than I anticipated, Glenn was not pushy about it. He was even able to lower it a bit. Glenn did great work and clearly explained everything that he was doing. Again even though it was little bit more than I expected I'm glad that I went with Glenn and that the job was done properly.
The reason I called Wagner was because of the single glowing review here on Yelp. I only found out after, that Yelp didn't include a really poor review in its rating for some reason. Well, this made all the difference, because it was very misleading. My experience with Wagner was terrible. He was late for the first appointment to evaluate my broken AC system and used the excuse his GPS couldn't find my location. I live in a very populated area and have never heard about this problem before, but I let it go. I had to prod him to get info on the next steps to get my AC fixed. Finally, we set up an appointment which was supposed to be first thing in the morning so I could take off as little time as possible from work. After about being a half hour late, he called asking me if I was there.....which sounded a bit strange since we had just make the appointment a few days earlier. I said yes, to which he responded, he would come right over. Then almost another hour went by and I got a call from his office assistant telling me an ""inspection"" was running late and he couldn't make it for another two hours. So I ended up taking several hours off from work for nothing. A customer's time is very valuable also, and any business that so casually treats customers by lying and double booking appointments should not get business. I was planning a major bathroom remodel and told him that when he was there the first time. So basically he lost two jobs because of his sloppy business practice. Do not use this contractor, you will be sorry. I hope Yelp includes this review because it will be helpful to another potential customer looking for a contractor to know he is unreliable.
July 1st, AC at my home goes out. Holiday weekend and my family is sweating and not happy. With low expectations, I called a couple so called big Boy businesses, they never showed up over the weekend....lots of excuses, even though I stated I'd be willing to pay ""extra holiday emergency"" fees. It gets worse, tried those same big boys again on Monday morning....story now became they were only booking appointments 2 weeks from now! Although slightly disappointed, I started making phone calls, at least 20 calls. Luckily GW Wagner was the first and only to answer the phone. Glen followed through and got to my house by mid afternoon. Issue fixed, he had to drive cross town to get the part at his shop too because all part stores had closed. He explained everything prior to completing job including price. Very fair price as well considering the unfortunate holiday timing. I can not say enough good things about Glen. He was extremely knowledgeable, nice, very professional, no BS, did the work himself and a US Veteran to boot. This man delivered quality service on a hot holiday weekend and made my family comfortable. There are still quality small family run HVAC businesses out there, GW Wagner is one of them. Have some faith, reward them and they come through for you. And those so called big boys??? ....I say there is only one chance to make a good impression and GW Wagner beat you all today because he cared. Thank you Glen!
