During an emergency created by the owner's negligence, during a refurbish project for her unit, two water leaks came from her unit into our bathroom! The condo management called G & L, when another was unavailable. Boy were we happy! The other plumbing company, were used in the past and were unsatisfied with their work.
We had inches of water from the bathroom flowing into the dining area and soaking the rug in front of the bathroom door. Not only did they find the original issue, the water heater needed to be replaced, but found TWO other issues that caused the majority of the damage! A hole in the main pipe from the shower and a cracked toilet that was just newly installed! AKA it was dropped! We just had them come back to finish the unit above work from our still open bathroom ceiling that could not be closed due to moisture! We now have to do a referb of our bathroom. So we may have them do our work.
Update: They came back 2 weeks later and completed the job on the upper unit. No leaks since! Great work guys!

I needed a hose replaced on my dishwasher. The receptionist was very friendly and got a plumber to me the first thing the next morning. John was friendly and knowledgeable and took care of the problem right away. The price was far more reasonable than other plumbers and they were a joy to work with.

When, during my first winter as a homeowner, I found myself without heat, I was lost. My friend recommended G&L, who is also used at my place on employment. I called their after hours service and the technician was thoughtful in trying to identify the urgency of the issue and suggested I called in the morning when the rate would be lower, as I would make it though the night without an emergency.

I called in the morning and the gentleman again determined what the issue might be and put me on the list. I was a bit stressed that he could not tell me where I was on the dispatch list, however, given the cold spell, I understood. Within 90 minutes, I received a call that G&L were on their way.

The technician Chris B. (as I can decipher from the bill) arrived with a high school student/apprentice and assessed the situation. He was thorough in identifying the issue, while also taking the time to teach me about my boiler system and what might be the issue. He walked be through what he needed to do to determine the source of the issue and why he needed to do that. My boiler system had not been updated in a long time by previous homeowners and he pointed out some of the glaring issues. However, he expressed his awareness that he did not want to ""rack up my bill,"" a consideration that, as a young woman, is something I am always alert about. Chris and his apprentice were considerate of my space, friendly, courteous, and efficient. They made didn't dally and explained every step of their process throughout the nearly 5 hours they were here.

Once heat was restored, Chris provided a summary of items that I should consider replacing, as well as gave himself homework of doing research on an unusual equipment setup in my system.

While I expected the bill to be high, I found it reasonable. Chris' consideration for my time (and therefore wallet) and ensuring I understood more about my heating system was invaluable. While I hope I don't have any emergencies in the future, I am glad to have had the experience with G&L and feel assured knowing I have such a great company on speed-dial 24/7.

Our new State hot water was still under warranty . Our plumber referred us to G+L Plumbing as they are the plumbers that performs warranty service for State hot water heaters. After several calls, and dealing with a receptionist/dispatcher who was rather brusque and borderline rude, we got an appointment. The technician came and assessed the problem and fixed it . It was only a lose internal wire . The water heater was still under warranty so we assumed it was covered. A month later we received a sizable bill for their service. We called and asked to speak to someone could help with the billing issue. Julie, who is in charge of billing, was unavailable but would return our call. Several months later , and after several calls to them, we finally got to speak to Julie. She never returned phone calls or was on vacation. She told us the service provided was not covered under the warranty even after we were told it was by another of their office workers. We called State and G+L never put in a claim. We were also charged for the travel time to our house, which we were never told of. She insisted that we were informed of the one way charge for travel, which we weren't . The office help at this business need lessons on dealing with customers . We were told we were rude and arrogant people and Julie hung up on us. A great way to run a business. I would not recommend them.

Worst experience ever.

I have a unique, energy efficient furnace that only a few plumbers in the New England area are certified to service. My heat and hot water were both out of service and I needed someone to come quickly. I contacted G&L and they were pretty responsive and made an appointment to come take a look at what was going on. I explained what we suspected it was prior to the day of appointment.

The plumber arrived and spent the majority of his time on the phone with the customer support for the brand of furnace because he hadn't specifically worked on one before (or it had been a while, I don't recall specifics). He also didn't bring any parts and had to have someone from their warehouse deliver items later in the day since he came unprepared. When he left, only half of the issue was resolved. I had heat - but still limited to no hot water at times. They also charged me an arm and a leg to ""fix"" the problem.

When the issue was still occurring after a couple of weeks, I called them back and they indicated that it was probably the 3-way valve which he suspected last time but didn't replace. He had to come back and would put it down as a follow-up appointment. I received a bill for 3 more hours of labor when he was only actually present for about an hour and a half. He once again showed up unprepared and had to go back to the warehouse to pick up parts even though he knew in advance what the issue was. He also had no idea how to fix the 3-way valve and my father had to show the man how to do it.

Do NOT call them. If they had to be on the phone with the service rep from the furnace company they are clearly not certified and any plumber could do that. They are a rip off. Don't do it to yourself.

After a horrible experience with a plumber out of Holden, I called G & L Plumbing for a water heater service call. Right from the beginning, starting with the gentleman who took the call, the female that called me back and John the plumber who arrived. Everyone was courteous and professional. John was very knowledgeable, professional, honest, and showed enthusiasm with his work. I am 100% satisfied with G & L Plumbing and will recommend them to all my law enforcement friends in the county from here on out. And thank you again for changing the negative history that I had with a plumbing contractor to a most positive one for your industry. John R. is a definite asset to your establishment.

Thank you, YS

Service on our Water Heater was ok, even though it broke two months later, I do think we needed a new water heater in the first place, but they tried to fix it first which I appreciate. The main downside to this company is the woman that answers the phone, she is a real piece of work! Very rude and sighs out loud as if you are bothering her or boring her!!!! They really need to get rid of her and I would do business with them again. But as long as she is answering phones and dealing with the front end of the business, they won't get mine!!

Find another plumber. I first contacted G&L on Saturday for a broken water heater. They were busy responding to other calls and said I would need to make an appointment for Monday. Fine. We made an appointment for 3pm on Monday. I arranged to take the afternoon off. They called at 2:30 to say they were busy with more urgent jobs and I would need to reschedule the following morning at 10:30. Not happy, but OK. I arranged to take the following morning off. At 1pm and after making several calls during the course of the morning and being told they were busy at other jobs I angrily told them I could wait no longer. They apologized and said they would be there first thing on Wed morning at 8:30.

It is now after 10:30 and I've called another plumber. I made it clear to G&L from the beginning that I have two small children at home and it is extremely difficult to be without hot water. They had no care about that, no respect for my time, and no sense of urgency for my issue. A person shouldn't be treated like this. I highly recommend finding another plumber.
