Russell W.Although I had to wait 72 hours for Fry to send a plumber out for my clogged bathroom sink drain, ""Thomas"" turned up on time and did a great job finding the problem and snaking it out. Cleaned up his mess very nicely. The price was reasonable, as well. No regrets.
2 weeks ago Fry plumber sent someone to look at my boiler I thought they were going to fix it however they said I would be receiving a brand new system. On Monday December 16th they arrived at my house at 8:00am and by 1:30pm they had completely installed my new boiler system. I think it still needs a little tweaking they did a great job. The guys were very professional. Now on Tuesday they came at 7:00am to install a new water heater they were finished by 10:30am they again did a great job I would recommend them again. Now I see some reviews that are not great however as for me and my house they served it well
Fry Plumbing is one of the most professional, informative, and competitively priced companies I have ever worked with. They were absolutely fantastic and went out of the way to help me with my shower. As a single female that knows nothing about plumbing, I'm always nervous that I'll be taken advantage of, or that the employees coming into my home will be unprofessional.
They fit me in the same day, and Casey called me 15 minutes after I called the office to see what time would work best for my schedule. Casey and Marc came out the same day, diagnosed the issue, had the parts in their truck, and did the work right then and there. They were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and I will absolutely be calling them again. They explained what they were doing in layman's terms, have me options, fixed the issue on the spot, and offered a government discount!
Thomas came and fixed my VERY clogged shower drain. It took a lot of work but he kept reassuring me, ""I think I will be able to fix it. I just have to be a little creative"" and sure enough, he did it. He was on time, pleasant, and professional. I would highly recommend this company!
Rob H.Outstanding service! My AC stopped working on a day where the temperature was expected to get up to 92 degrees, which was stressful to say the least. They were able to get to my house within an hour of me calling (partially a stroke of luck in the scheduling and where the technician was in the city at the time, but it was great nonetheless). They had the issue identified and resolved within an hour and now my house doesn't feel like a sauna anymore. Reasonable price too, highly recommended!
I highly recommend Fry Plumbing. I received prompt, courteous, and professional service. Marc + Carlos came out to do a sewer line inspection, and addressed all of our concerns. They were friendly, and we felt at ease asking all of our questions. Thanks!
Bronwyn B.Fry came to do a routine annual service on my cast iron radiator system. They arrived as scheduled and I was initially very impressed with the tech, David. He spent a long time talking to me about the system, telling me what problems to keep an eye out for, and figuring out how to bleed the brand-new, super-fancy British radiators that we'd just installed in our attic. We had to go into a crawl space to find some hidden valves that the contractor had installed, and he was really nice about that too - especially as filling up and bleeding the system required a LOT of running up and down stairs for him. In the end, he charged me for a flat hour of work at $150, which I consider very reasonable. Previously, I've had Presidential Plumbing out to service the system, and they'd told me that I urgently needed $1,400 worth of work. David said there nothing whatsoever wrong with the boiler, nothing needed to be replaced, and snorted when he heard about Presidential's estimate. When I'd spoken to Jonny (whom I believe to be either the owner or manager) earlier on the phone and told him about the estimate that I'd received, he was also skeptical and expressed that Fry ""doesn't replace something if it isn't broken.""
It would have been very easy for Fry to come into my house, say ""oh yeah, you need $1,400 worth of work, for sure"" and head it with a nice check. So lots of kudos to them - they seem really honest!!
Unfortunately, when I went up to check the attic after David left, I found a huge puddle of water spreading all over the floor. It turns out that the plumber who installed my new radiators forgot to seal two of the radiator valves. Obviously that's not David's fault! But the valves are located on the bottom of the radiator, and would have been leaking freely the entire time he was filling and bleeding the system, so I think he should have spotted the problem (esp because he knew the radiators hadn't been tested before). I was also bummed out to find grease smears on my newly-painted white walls and on my bathtub - he must have used a really dirty rag to catch the water from the radiator bleeding, and it left brown marks on four walls that wouldn't wash off, so I had to re-paint those areas.
I took a star off the review for these two issues but was generally very happy with the service. I'm personally very willing to put up with a lot from a company that I know won't rip me off, and Fry overall did a very job. My only advice would be to spot-check the work site for cleanliness before they leave.
I called Fry to have someone come out to unclog my kitchen sink. I was given an appointment for the next day and told to be home between 12pm and 2pm. After taking off work for the afternoon, they did not show up or call. Very unprofessional.
Surprised Fry has such a low rating. My two interactions with them to date have been spot on. I thought my sump pump had gone out. Their team spent hours just trying to locate the pump. They finally found it behind builtin cabinets without an access panel. When the pump was determined to be working, Fry spent quite a bit of time with me on the phone discussing options and suggesting that I consider taking some corrective action on my own instead of paying them to do a big job. Seriously couldn't have had a better experience.
They quoted us installation for a water heater. We'd learned after they installed it they have not pulled the permit. They expected us to pull the building permit. When I went down to pay I was told that they had to pull it since they were licensed and done the work. The inspector called them and said pull the permit now or we will fine you. Now we received a bill over-inflated from what the building department charge them. If you go to the building department yourself it is only $44 for a water heater. Always make sure that permits license and insurance is up-to-date with any contractor you let in your home and work on your stuff. We called them because the old Mr. Fry was good . This business has been bought out by someone else who just kept the name.
