James G. Frew Sr. trained with J.M. Kissock & Son, based in Bellevue, PA. Mr. Kissock received his license on March 31, 1898, from the Plumbing Examining Board of Allegheny City, PA. James G. Frew achieved the status of Practical Plumber after completing the required qualifications. He continued to work alongside Mr. Kissock. My grandfather purchased the plumbing business from Mr. Kissock in 1925, renaming it Frew. He continued to operate from the Kissock site.

In 1953, James G. Frew Jr. joined the family business and acquired his uncle's plumbing company, Taylor Plumbing. With four uncles on his mother's side, three were in the plumbing trade. From 1953 to 1960, he ran his business on Gorard Avenue, then moved to 546 California Avenue.

I, James M. Frew, started my apprenticeship with my father in 1969. By 1974, I obtained both my PA State and County Journeyman's licenses. In 1975, I obtained my Master Plumber License. I assumed control of the business in 1989.
