I just had Frank Gay out for a second diagnosis & bid to repair my 2 yr old Carrier HVAC system with a broken motor. While the service tech was very nice and the problem was agreed as the motor. The bid was more than twice as much as the Sun Cool quote. The part is warranted. This is labor cost. I ask how long it would take to repair and he said,about an hour. WOW Be aware guys!

I have had services from Frank Gay 3 times in the past year. The second service was to fix the first one's incompetence. Their business model seems to be less about fixing AC than subscribing people to their family plan. To their credit, they always seem to have techs available. Unfortunately they either hire crooks or encourage their techs to lie to get more services than needed. This latest visit we were told our refrigerant was out, indicating a leak, and our blower motor was shot and needed to be replaced. The tech quoted us $5000 for a new blower motor and $2300 to fill the refrigerant and find and fix the leak. He also suggested we get an entire new system for a minimum of $10,000 instead of repairing. Unfortunately for him, we are not going to spend that amount of money without a second opinion. We are currently enjoying our functional AC, repaired by another company for less than $800. The refrigerant was flat and there was a leak, caused by shoddy repairs where wires had worn through a tube due to friction. Guess which company did those repairs! The blower motor? That was a lie, it was fine. Never hire this company.

Chris Porter was our service technician for our house call, and was very pleasant and helpful while fixing our outdoor plumbing issue. He explained everything he was doing and why. Frank Gay Services answered our call on Thanksgiving (yesterday), and were willing to come out that day. Fortunately, we were able to wait until today to get the job done, and Chris arrived shortly after 10:30 am. That's a big deal in our book because the plumbing company we used before did not have an emergency call line, and we probably would have waited more days to be """"scheduled"""" for service, as in past calls. We did not have running water, so waiting was not an option. The fix was fast and appears to be well done. There is a one year warrantee on this work, so that is a big plus. I recommend Frank Gay Services of Lady Lake. Especially in a pinch.

We requested electric service from this company since there wasn't power going into the water heater. The technician asked for a $350 up front to find out what the problem was. Before he started the discovery process he said the electrical panel had to be replaced and gave us a ballpark quote of $5,000. He mentioned that the cable going from the panel to the water heater was bad and needed to be replaced. In the same call he offered the service maintenance plan for $250 a year... We called another electrician who changed the cable for $50 dollars worth of materials and an hour of labor. He also said that the panel wasn't overheating so it did not need to be changed and it costs $80 at Lowe's. Frank Gay is a rip-off.
