Terrible customer service! The one stair is for when actually spoke to a plumber and he was knowledeage.

The last week has been a disaster and Fox has made it all that much worse. Tuesday night my carbon monoxide detector went off, fire department came out and said it was probably my hot water heater, which they then disconnected. Fox installed the project and their number is on it, so I left them a message that night around 10:30 pm explaining what happened.

Wednesday-- waited until 3pm, still no call back, so I called them. First it took the woman forever to figure out what she had to change the owner of the home. Finally I explained the issue and she said they could send someone out Thursday or Friday from 2-4. First of all, who is NOT working during that time! I finally decided to just book Thursday and I'd figure it out. My roommate thankfully was able to work from home that afternoon.

Thursday 4pm rolls around-- still nothing. I call Fox and they say, oh I had you down for tomorrow. When I explained no, she then said, well I had been going back and forth and she said I had said Friday. Then when I explained everyone I know works during those time periods. She went on to say, well on a Friday afternoon usually companies are ok if you take off early to be home for an issue like this. Um, excuse...you don't know what I do! That comment was completely off...so I just wait, whatever, I'll figure something else out. As I thought about it that night, I didn't really have another option. Ran into my neighbors who said they would be home and could let the person in.

I call back Friday morning (please note, I have not had hot water this WHOLE time!!!), to ask for that Friday afternoon appointment. First the woman cannot seem to understand what I am saying and again says I am not the owner of the home...haven't we already figured this out. She puts me on hold twice, all while I'm trying desperately to get out of the house so I won't be late for work. Finally this other woman comes on the phone, and asks me what the issue is. So I had to go through it ALL AGAIN! Seriously people!?!? Friday 2-4 has now been taken...

Since it doesn't seem like this is going to happen, I ask the woman for a referral. I get that you may not want to send your customers elsewhere, but also-- why not have good service. I tell her to put me on the hold list-- because really what else the fuck am I going to do.

Then I call Beacon Plumbing! Not only are these people so much nicer, they seem to actually understand that I haven't had hot water AND carbon monoxide had been leaking into my HOUSE!! Beacon says they are going to send something that afternoon. That person comes, I talk to them on the hone and they say they need to send out an expert. The expert calls me and said he could come at 7pm! Finally! Not only do they NOT charge extra for coming at night, but they actually care about the problem!

I did finally talk to the plumber at Fox who did the project in my home before and he knew what he was talking about...so one star for having a smart mechanic. However, I will absolutely NEVER use Fox plumbing. Their staff is absolutely terrible, so rude and do not seem to understand the fact that I NEED HOT WATER!

Wow--- what a rant. Ok, but I feel a little better.

Rick, Jose and Matt helped me out and were super professional and courteous. Rick helped me save thousands by instructing me how if I put in the labor of digging the trench through my yard he could install the new water service from the meter to my house and drill through my foundation! Fantastic! So I dug it out after getting the utilities located and Fox plumbing was true to their word. They came out the next day and were fast, friendly and did a clean quality job. These guys treated me like family! I appreciate the courtesy and price and all their willingness to answer my questions.

I did not just fall off the turnip truck yesterday and I know when I am being sold a bad deal. I also know to stay away and not hire them from the start. So here is the deal:

I have a gas furnace not working. I go onto the internet and see Fox is close and has a $29 special for a tune up, what ever that is and involves. I call mentioning the special, telling them about my furnace, and asking what the special is about. They immediately tell me that I do not qualify for the special because my furnace needs a repair.

They go on to tell me it cost $99 for a service call and it covers the first 15 minutes. I ask if it is the same guy who comes out and spends the same 15 minutes to do a repair inspection and estimate or a ""tune up inspection"" then the cost to the company is the same and why do they want to charge me $60 more. All the gal on the phone could say was that the person would be doing different things. I asked her several questions trying to understand and she transferred me to talk to the service manager, Chad or something like that. It was like he was reading the same script as the woman answering the phone.

So I said to him: If I have a garden company come out and mow my small front lawn taking 15 minutes one time, and another time the same guy comes out spending 15 minutes using a lawn blower than I would expect to pay close to the same amount since it is the same guy, the same truck, and the only difference is in what the person does and the tools he uses which are on the truck anyway. So yes, the lawn blower may cost the company $100 or so less than the commercial lawn blower they use but I assure you the company will charge me the same amount of money for either service and I just could not understand why then for the same 15 minutes his company will charge me $29 for one thing and $99 for another.

I did not have them come out and decided to call Puget Sound Energy to see if they might suggest someone else. Come to find out they do service work and will come out for free to take a look knowing they are selling no gas if they furnace is not working.

FOX did a professional job installing a water heater this past Fall. I added their service plan too.

Later in the past year, I called them to fix a leaking toilet. The leak resumed almost immediately. I called them again to refix the leak. FOX said that the floor was rotten so it couldn't be fixed. I had another plumber replace the seal with a heavier ring which took care of the problem.

FOX came to clean out a drain from the kitchen sink. They indicated that it might be a long run. I said ""NO,"" that it would only be 15 to 20 ' out , which it was. IT TOOK 15 MINUTES. FOX did not charge because of their prior issues.

FOX was called 2/20/2015 to clear a dishwasher drain. They arrived WITHOUT a prior call and FOX said that the problem might run $400 since it could go into concrete work when the tech DID call me. As it turned out my husband arrived to see that FOX cleared the drain from the diswasher to the sink drain. FOX charged $248! Time was not indicated. The $99 service was not credited. The statement showed $28 cleaner solution and $9.00 miscellaneous material in addition to the non specific time/labor.

I think I see that $100 has been added to the first hour's labor. FOX has NEVER TOLD ME OF THIS INCREASE.

FOX did good work installing my new water heater. BUT, IN SUBSEQUENT JOBS,

FOX HAS MADE DIRE EVALUATIONS PRIOR TO ACTUAL WORK AND THEY

SEEM TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR WORK THAT THEY HAVE PERFORMED. THEIR

CHARGES ARE UNFAIR AND NOT ACCORDING TO THEIR PROMISES.

FOX IS NOT FAIR.

I have two experiences with Fox. One in Nov 2014 and one this week.
1st time our sewer line backed up, they came out and cleared the line. Scoping comes included! ($200 extra with Mr. Rooter), and we saw that our old line was crumbling. They gave us a quote for a new line. They were honest, respectful and didn't get pushy or use scare sales tactics.
I then had 4 other companies come out. All in the $12-16k range. We chose a $10k company. Big mistake!! After two months for what was quoted a 5 day job, I fired them and called Fox back. I should have followed my gut and done it much much sooner! (Do NOT hire Affordable Plumbing of West Seattle) fox came out in two days and three days later we had an all new sewer line, concrete pad, gutter drain and more. We ended up needing a sump pump and French drain due to damage caused by the previous plumber and unneeded digging. Which they blamed on roots, ground water and bad soil for their delays.
Wyll and his crew were so great I made them cookies. All work was done quickly, expertly, to code, and they cleaned up after themselves every single day. They left the site better than they found it, and I can sleep at night knowing our basement will no longer flood due to shoddy plumbing.
Thank you Fox, Wyll and crew!!

They came out the day I called and the tech was nice. And that's where the nice part of my review ends. I called because my furnace was smelling. The tech came out and said the smell was due to an overused filter. So we (I mean, I) cleaned the filters and the tech left. Then, by an extremely untimely coincidence I'm sure, the fan blower stops working right after the Fox tech leaves and my house becomes quite cold. So I called him up. He only then tells me he had been wondering if the blower might be a problem earlier and he wasn't too surprised it quit. ""It's going to be $600-$1000 to replace it.""

Okay, now I'm smelling fish. Not only does the price seem high, but seriously, a $400 range? I find it strange that any professional worth his salt in the HVAC business wouldn't know exactly how long it would take to change out a fan blower on a ten-year-old Trane furnace he's just spent twenty minutes tinkering in. And the price of a motor is just what it is, right? Hourly plus parts and taxes equals a quote, doesn't it? Maybe not at Fox. I called another much small company at the recommendation of my father-in-law (see my other HVAC review) and got a firm quote at $380--parts, labor, and no shenanigans. My family is now happy and warm again no thanks to Fox.

Two weeks later, Fox and Co sent me a robo-card in the mail to thank me for my business. It wasn't even signed. I felt so loved.

Booking the appointment was very easy and they give you a 20 minutes heads up when they are on their way which is very appreciated.

The person helped me understand how my plumbing worked and also pinpointed the possible issue. The quote on the other hand was suspicious. I was quoted close to 500$ to change a mixing valve when the only thing wrong with is was the nob to change hot/cold mix was not there.

A simple pair of pliers fixed the issue.

I had a great customer service experience with this company. They came prepared with the parts the tech thought he might need to fix our heater before the diagnostic, said he wouldn't charge me the diagnostic fee. When he looked at the heater and saw it didn't need major repair, he didn't charge us at all and gave us tips on how to avoid it in the future. Just great service!

1st impression was an unprofessional technician grumbling about needing to haul his equipment down to the basement.

He pulled out a chunk of roots while snaking the sewer line. Later, we found this root chunk shoved back into the drain. Jerky move!

Some other guy had to come help him haul equipment and do the camera scope. We got an estimate to replace the sewer line for $15,000. Another company gave us a free estimate for almost half that, and with a longer guarantee.

So, the snake and video scope came to a whopping $376. Ridiculous.

Charged us $350 and didn't solve the problem. It actually made it worse.
No warranty no nothing.
They would charge us again to fix the bigger problem they created.

UPDATE:
After speaking with the manager, they sent a senior professional. He was great, explained the problem in details, tried different techniques and finally solved the problem.
