Recommended Customer Reviews
First, let me say that Ryan did a very professional job with the installation. I was told that they needed to rearrange my entire mechanical closet because the furnace was positioned in a way that didn't allow access to the blower motor. A day and three quarters later, everything had been moved, reattached, and a lot of the old duct work repaired or replaced. As far as I can tell, Ryan did an exceptionally good job getting everything installed and working. There was also a quality assurance check after about two weeks where Alex spent a couple hours reviewing the work and ensuring that everything was functioning optimally.
So if they did such great work, why are they getting a two-star review? Because of the pricing and the initial consultation. Because I know nothing about air conditioning installation, I specifically asked Kenny, ""Is this a fair price? Is it similar to what I'd be charged by another contractor?"" He told me yes. Come to find out that the parts they installed totaled around $3000 and I was charged over $6000 for the job. That comes out to over $3000 in labor costs for the couple hours that the initial consultation took, the almost two days of labor to do the installation, and the couple hours for the quality assurance. Now, I don't know if the price I was charged is actually fair. It doesn't *feel* fair and FCHA's refusal to send an itemized invoice after in-person, email, and phone requests certainly makes it feel like shady billing.
When I was given the invoice, it contained the total sum for all of the work. i followed up by asking for an itemized invoice that was at least split into parts and labor. No response.
A little bit over a month later, I got a call from Tara telling me that they'd forgotten to include some of the electrical work on the invoice and wanted me to pay an additional amount. I wasn't sure why there was a second invoice pending, so they had Kenny call me back about it. Turned out that because they had originally planned to have the condenser sticking out into my yard (!), so when I asked them to put the condenser around the corner instead, they called in an external electrician and that electrician sent a separate invoice. So much for that ""Proposed Investment Guarantee"" on FCHA's invoice, right? ""The price you see is the price you pay...PERIOD."", it says. Turns out they have ways around that, like getting someone else to invoice you. Anyway, when I talked to Kenny (remember that this is a month after the install and my request for an itemized invoice), I reminded him that I'd requested an itemized invoice and would still like one. ""Oh, sure, no problem. I'll have that for you by the end of the day."" Any guesses as to whether I ever received it? Hint: The answer is no.
Also, Alex was two hours late for the quality assurance appointment. Didn't even get a phone call letting me know he'd be late, just a call at 10:30, ""Oh, hey, Angela tells me that we had you on the schedule for 8:30, but I was in a meeting. Is it still OK to do it now?""
So ultimately, if you have a bunch of money burning a hole in your pocket and are looking to have quality work done, by all means, use Fort Collins Heating and Air. On the other hand, if you're looking for a contractor that you can trust and that won't leave you feeling like you've been dealing with money-grubbing scum, then I'd recommend avoiding Kenny Bean and the rest of Fort Collins Heating and Air.
FCHA installed a new A/C in my house. Professional and high-quality service from start to finish.
Jodi A.Angela went above and beyond to schedule next-day service when my furnace broke in the middle of winter. Ryan B. did a great job replacing my old furnace. He finished exactly when he estimated he would, and went the extra mile to correct something that had been wired incorrectly since the house was built. He was super trustworthy, dependable, friendly, and clean. Very happy with their service.
Wish I could give 10 stars, they are that good. Not only did they offer the best product, the best warranty and a very competitive pricing, they had the best employees. We were always kept informed about the progress. The logistics of our house set-up and being all electric was a challenge some other companies were not able to properly meet. From the initial contact to the finished product, they were great. Not only that, they were both professional AND friendly. Big plus.
Fred T.Kenny Bean, the installation representative and project manager, for Fort Collins Heating and Air provided excellent service during the replacement of our homes HVAC system. The system was a high efficiency system and there were several challenges to its installation in our home that other contractors in town could not address and hence no-bid the job. Fort Collins H&A and Kenny stepped up and did a great job and were responsive and obliging to all of our requests! I would recommend Kenny and the team at FC H&A to anyone who needs a HVAC contractor or service company.
This was the first time I've used this company and will call upon them again in the future. My boiler burner went out and refused to light.
The service was great (with a few bumps). A rocky start with getting an appointment, but after a couple of calls, I was finally on the schedule. Steve Y., within my appt time slot, called ahead of his arrival to alert me he was on his way. We discussed the problem. He proceeded to diagnosis the problem in an orderly and through manner. Steve discussed the repair with me and upon his recommendation, provided the in-depth information I needed to know to decide on the repair. The suspected part was replaced based upon his diagnosis which solved the problem. Quick, easy, and through.
Thanks Fort Collins Heating and A/C and to Steve Y for the great job.
We have used Fort Collins Heating and Air for almost 10 years now to do our Bi-annual tune-ups on our A/C and Furnace. They have always given us excellent customer service, and fair prices. The technicians always call about 20 minutes before they arrive, they give you a two hour arrival window. The first time we used FCHA we called them for a second opinion after our A/C had quit working and had Allen heating came out and told us we needed a completely new system. FCHA came out and fixed the problem for just over $100. We still have the same system almost 10 years later. Liam P. was our latest tech and was very thorough and courteous.
I have had numerous interactions with Fort Collins Heat & Air, all positive. I've had a new furnace, and two air conditioners installed, as well as a service contract. Pete J just came by for our annual inspection/tune up on the furnace. He was exceptionally thorough with his work - despite the fact this was included in the contract price- instead of rushing through. Communication was way above average. Prices seem to be in line with the average.
I was very pleased with my experience with Ft. Collins HVAC. Their quote was very competitive and their installation of the units was very professional. Wade and Stephen replaced an old, ugly furnace and A/C with a cleanly installed new unit. They worked very efficiently together and the installation is something to be proud of. I am very pleased.
Robert A. installed a bath fan for us today and we are pleased with the result.
The first thing he did was to spread tarps from the entrance to the work site and
after the job Robert insisted on vacuuming even after i said i could do it. All in all a
great job and polite courteous service.
I have had other experiences with service calls with this company and have always
been pleased with them.
The owner has provided service that wasn't strictly required by code because he
said it was the ""best practices"" way to do the job.
I like this company
