Honest and dependable. They've never let me down. Highly recommend their maintenance plan and their service for furnace, air conditioning, electric and plumbing.

I would not recommend this business if you live in Detroit proper. I was told by the technician that he was a bit late because they are skeptical of Detroit appointments due to crime problems years ago and so my appointment was delayed (-1 star) while he ""scouted"" the location on Google Maps and drove by to make sure it was safe. Bear in mind that where I live is in an active part of town and has homes with median listing prices between $300-$400K. I do understand the city's history does require an awareness for safety and common sense but a business more comfortable with the city and familiar with how it has changed would be more appropriate to service citizens in the area. Otherwise it appears as a double-standard in customer service (-1 star). Regardless of our zip code, all customers deserve to be treated with equal dignity & respect.

Another star is subtracted due to price inflation: the technician left behind the box containing the replacement part used to service my unit. I looked up the brand and model online and multiple websites listed the item for 10% of the price I was charged.

I will give them credit (+2 stars) for correctly diagnosing the problem and repairing it in a timely fashion.

**Buyer Beware**
Quoted $614 for a new air conditioner fan plus service call charge.
Actual price for the part - $54. Replaced the fan myself.
1200% markup is a bit steep.
The technician damaged the fan screw to such an extent, I had to buy new fan blades as well.
NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

They did a great job and I felt like I could really trust them when they came to fix my air conditioner/furnace. They're a little expensive, though. And I had to wait around for them all day, which was not ideal.

I moved into an old house about three and a half years ago and have been using Flame for all my heating and cooling issues, and most of my plumbing issues, since then. I used them mainly because the prior owner had their hot water heating system installed through Flame, and I figured it would be easiest to keep dealing with them. I'm usually very wary of places with bad reviews, so I guess I hadn't checked them when I got started with Flame. I signed up for the Gold plan there (also not the norm for me to do) because I wanted to be good about getting AC and heater inspected annually, and that is included with the Gold plan. My house is a hundred years old and I've had lots of plumbing issues, so I started using Flame for those too since I didn't have a different plumber I liked. Gary has repaired our kitchen sink, and another plumber helped us with a refrigerator leak into our basement - both very good experiences. I'm usually disappointed with service providers (just see my other reviews...) but I honestly have only good things to say about Flame. Whenever I've had an issue, they have someone come out the next day. I only felt motivated to write this review when I looked up their phone number and saw such dismal reviews from others. I can only speak for myself and clearly other people have had different types of experiences with them than me, but after 3.5 years and many calls to Flame, I've only had positive experiences.

Beware my friends....
My furnace was out Friday 12/6/16
Flame furnace said I had cracked heat exchanger and bad electrical box and they could not help me. They insisted repair so expensive I need new furnace. I had previously purchased a service plan from Flame yet they still wanted $49 for the service call !!!!

Then I called Family Heating and they fixed my problem for $160 in 30 minutes. New igniter only. They saw only minor cracks in heat exchanger and no carbon monoxide leaks. I then had DTE come take an independent look to be safe. DTE saw no problem with my heat exchanger either.

Do not trust Flame Heating... they are crooks. Please send your business to Family Heating & Cooling.

We had our furnace go out on a Saturday. Had a technician within 3 hours and he fixed the problem. Very happy with their service.

I have been a gold member for at least 7 years and have generally felt satisfied with their services. Recently, I had 3 zone valves replaced on my boiler. The amount of labor charged was criminal! No reflection on the technician that came out to do it as he was definitely qualified and does not set the labor costs. The zone valves are not that expensive and I was charged $1600.00 to replace them. Absolutely horrific. I feel so ripped off. Needless to say I have cancelled my contract with them and have no intention of doing any future business with them.

How I wish I had read the YELP reviews before I called these guys. Good Grief! $150 charge for after business hours emergency (only reason I call them was 24/7 service offer) Came to my house on Thanksgiving Eve. My husband told him it is probably the igniter. He took whole furnace apart and then told us we need a new one. My husband told him to put everything back and get out. My husband replaced the igniter himself and still would not work. We call our regular guy 2 days later. (no heat for the holidays) Our regular guy asked who ""destroyed"" the furnace? Igniter was only thing that needed replacing but blower wires were deliberately crossed and our furnace was sabotaged by the FLAME guy. For $99 our guy fixed everything and our furnace is working fine now. no need for a new one. This FLAME co sure has some kind of racket going on. I will report to BBB
