My heating system failed during a recent cold snap. Having seen Flaherty Plumbing and Heating trucks around town, decided to give them a call (after hours). Got a live person to talk to, not an answering service! Had professional help. Turns out my heater was NOT set up properly when installed by a different plumber. Flaherty used Westinghouse tech support and got everything squared away. Very satisfied.

I'm just a tenant renting in Ashland but when my landlord asks me to be here when a service from this plumber is necessary, I'm just impressed. Nick, the service tech shows up on time. He is courteous, efficient friendly and knowledgeable. He showed up yesterday ahead of time to install a new dishwasher. Not only did he do the install expeditiously, he took away all trash and the old unit.

As a previous homeowner but only renting now, I appreciate someone who shows up on time. I can't comment on the price but I know good service when I see it.

Flaherty's always comes through when I need them!! I have had them over to my house for clogged drains (tub, bathroom sink, kitchen sink) and they've found ways I could be more efficient in my water use. I've also had them help with the installation of a new gas range and they bent over backwards to make sure they could be there to disconnect the old and connect the new. Last year they did a great job with a gas leak in my furnace and did a thorough cleaning and check of the unit to keep it going strong even after the 50+ years its been in my house! I only call Flarherty Plumbing for my plumbing needs because I know they'll be there when I need them!

Shame on me for not reading the reviews here before calling Paul Flaherty Plumbing. First, I must say that the plumber arrived on time and replaced the toilet flange as requested. He did damage several ceramic floor tiles in the process, I was able to get them replaced since I had saved spares from when the tile job was done years ago. When receiving the bill I was told that I had to pay a special $15 fee for ""shop materials"" even though the plumber told me that he didn't use anything that Flaherty considered ""shop materials"". There were separate line items for all of the materials that the plumber actually used which I had no problem paying. He told me that the $15 charge is something that they charge all customers regardless of whether any supplies are used it not. Since my issue was with the office and not the plumber, I paid the fee to the plumber as requested. After placing calls to the office to complain, I was told that Paul himself would call me back. It's now been over a month and never a call back... Sorry, but that's now how I like being treated and will never use Paul Flaherty Plumbing again because of it.

Shame on me for not reading these reviews beforehand, but I was referred by a local handyman. I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a business. I created a Yelp account just so I could warn people about them.

First off, it's very clear no one in the company communicates with one another. I have had to explain the situation to every person that called. The first guy came to my house and gave me an estimate. After that he came back with a quote that was above the range of the estimate. But I relented and said just do it as I had already paid $165 to have this guy come out.

Before the job I receive a call from one of the receptionist girls who already has an attitude. I ask if she read any of the notes and she responds ""No, why would I have those?"" I don't know, maybe because then you'd know how to do the job? After the job I receive a call from from maybe the same girl who gives me the total, which is 50% more than the quote, asking for my credit card number. I refuse since the total is not what we discussed. She gets angry and insulting then hangs up on me.

A month later I get my credit card bill and there's the full charge. They charged my credit card without my authorization or even contacting me. They might as well have stolen my wallet while they were at it.

I had one fleeting pleasant experience with this company. A woman called me to try and resolve the issue. She apologized for the improper billing and horrible customer service. She actually heard they way the receptionist girls were talking to me and was disgusted. She said she would contact Paul, who was on vacation, and come to a solution. Unfortunately, I never received that call.

If I could give negative stars I would. This is the perfect example of how not to treat your customers. If these reviews deter even one person from utilizing this businesses services then my job is done. I hope their desire to rip me off a few hundred dollars is worth future business lost.

Paul came to my home to quote me a price for an up pump toilet system over two months ago. He spent the better part of 30 minutes taking measurements and talking to me about options but even after repeated calls to the company, no one ever came back with a quote.

My condo association hired this company to check the heating system in my unit. The problem was inconsistent heat between rooms. The repairman spent about 10 min and did the following as described in the invoice:

No heat in one of the bedrooms
Tenant did not think heat was working correctly
Thermostatic valve turned down upon arrival
Turned valve setting higher
Heat working throughout unit
Turned up all the way, fin tube getting very hot
Found heat and thermostatic valve working correctly
Set at medium heat

According to the company, the technician spent 40 minutes in the unit and they charged

Service Call - 1/2 hour : $85
Labor 0.5 : $65
Truck and travel : $35

I called to dispute the Labor, $65, since the technician definitely did not spent more than 30 minutes. But they claimed that the technician called to tell them he spent 40 minutes and that is the only record they have. No signature from me. They also refused to discuss the bill further with me since my condo association management company called them.

As you may read in other reviews, there were more cases of overcharging by this company. If you work with them be sure to get an invoice on site and check all the items carefully.
