BEWARE! Fred is in poor health and should have retired long ago. He is in no condition to continue working as a plumber. He could not complete our job after waiting two weeks for hot water and finally send another plumber to take over, who created an absolute mess and nearly burned our home down. Stay away unless you want a nightmare and a never ending mess. By the way, Jennifer, his office manager will threaten to take collections action and place a lien on your home if you don't pay them even though they charge 2x the estimate and never complete the scope of the work! Using FJR Plumbing will make you want to YELP!!!

Fred came in to give an estimate (without an upfront fee) to replace my dishwasher and shut off valves. He came in and seemed very knowledgeable and quoted us a very fair price. I also live in a co-op and when I called their receptionist to collect the appropriate insurance data she was very helpful in coordinating to get the documentation. I'm very happy so far and am looking forward to scheduling my appointment.

Highly recommend Fred and his crew! Came in to no heat last night. Called this morning and he sent over Chad by 8:30 am and diagnosed the problem. Got the part and heat on by afternoon! Reasonable prices-knowledgeable and fast--love these guys!!

In the process of selling my parents' home in Nassau County, I had to get a pressure test to reconnect the gas.   For those of you who don't know, this is a complicated process that takes several visits from a plumber licensed to do this type of work, as well as a visit from an inspector sent by the Town.  Not knowing any plumbers in that neighborhood, I got a referral from a friend.  Upon calling for a price quote, I was stunned by the amount of money I was quoted.  It was well over $1200 for the pressure test, not including all the additional plumbing repairs that may have to be done on top of that.  I'm sure the resulting amount would have been close to $2000.  I decided to research on Yelp to see if I could find a more reasonable plumber. 

Well, I cannot believe how lucky I was.   My eye was caught by two Yelp reviews written about a local plumber by the name of Fred Ryckman, of FJR Plumbing.  One review read: ""Fred came to our home after 3 other plumber couldn't figure out what was wrong with our boiler.  He seemed to know our boiler inside and out as if it were an old friend. He fixed it and told us it wasn't necessary to replace it, as others told us to.   He actually saved us thousands.""  The second review read:   ""2nd time using him and I must say amazing.  Pipes burst and a flood of water all over 3 floors!  Thank goodness I was home when the pipes exploded.  Repaired and fixed in 1 hour!  Family owned small business that goes beyond the call of duty to get the job done.  I'm so relieved and happy!  Fair prices, honest, dependable, fair, did i say fair prices.  Came within 15 minutes of calling.  Why can't all businesses be like this? I immediately called Fred."" 
 
And my experience was exactly the same!!  Fred gave me an initial quote of less than half of the previous quote!  I could not believe my ears.   Plus, he went over and above his duty as a plumber to take care of all paperwork involved with pressure test, which involved chasing a UPS van around his neighborhood to pick up the important papers I had sent him in the mail.  He kindly answered all my questions and took my calls whenever possible.  He is extremely knowledgeable about EVERYTHING regarding plumbing, and his truck is amazing.  It looks like a traveling hardware store.  His secretary Jennifer also went over and above in helping me with all my concerns.   She told me that Fred, who has been practicing plumbing for many many years, is still going to school to learn the latest plumbing techniques and devices.  

The job was completed efficiently and successfully.   Fred put in several hours working on the stove, as well as conducting the pressure test and checking for leaks.  Our house passed the inspection, we were given our gas certificate by the Town, and the gas was turned on.   The final cost, including all repairs, came in at less than $1,000.  It was a daunting process at first, but Fred made it easy!!!   I can't stress that enough.   He is a delight to work with.  It is a rare experience to meet someone with such integrity. 

I can't recommend him highly enough.  Thank you Fred and Jennifer.

Unprofessional receptionist Jennifer is very rude and obnoxious. Hung up the phone on me several times and threatened me after I paid for services that were not delivered and a job that was not properly supervised or done well. Receptionist refused to put me in contact with Fred. I called to make my complaint and could not get any responses to the notch job done at my establishment.Such a waste of time.
