Single mom here. Honestly, I was very overwhelmed trying to find a plumber during COVID for something I thought would be relatively simple. My faucet broke on my child's tub and needed it replaced but, had trouble with a diy. I called many plumbers for estimates that I couldn't afford or wanted to charge me a fee just to check it out. Everything was way out of what I could afford. My father found Steven's information from Nextdoor. He gave us a very fair quote and was able to come out quickly and install all parts. He was so kind, honest, and helpful. I'm very appreciative of the service he provided and the integrity he has! This is a small, family owned business I will be supporting in the future and highly recommend you do too! You won't regret it!
FJ Hooks Plumbing performed gas line services for us, and we could not be happier with the responsiveness of their office staff and the quality of service of their technicians! Their team ran the gas pipe though the basement of our house to the new pool heater, and did so in a highly professional manner that respected the interior of our house. They were so easy to deal with, fairly priced, and attentive to completing the job at the highest quality and in a timely manner. We highly recommend them for any plumbing and gas services you might need in your future.
Fester B.F.J. Hooks installed a new water heater for me, replacing one that was leaking. They provided fast, very courteous service at a reasonable price and left a clean space behind when the work was done. My highest recommendation.
An FJ Hooks panel truck driver attempted to intimidate my husband & I as we driving in an unfamiliar area of Fairfax. He drove next to & extremely close to our car- gesticulating madly. All because we were in the wrong lane & had to move in front of him to avoid blocking traffic. If this is the kind of employee FJ Hooks has on it's staff-I wouldn't hire this company for any reason.
FJ hooks has been taking care of plumbing (water and gas) issues for us since we bought our home in 2003, coming many times over the years. They are always thorough, efficient and reliable and do a good job explaining things.
I am very impressed. Nice, knowledgeable phone person. Easy to schedule. Experienced, considerate, professional tech that brought everything they needed and showed up on time. Efficient work done in a timely manner. Explained everything to me. Pricing was very fair. I'm not used to not paying at the visit, but this was no issue since these folks don't over charge. I will be using them for all my plumbing needs. Much better than the big companies that seem to charge a lot, probably to pay for their ads.
Bob S.I noticed these mediocre reviews for Hook plumbing and felt obligated to share my experience, though it was a few years back (2012). I contracted them to install a sewage extraction pump for a new bathroom in my basement, not a small job. They gave me a full estimate and they handled all permits, etc. Came out, jackhammered the concrete and installed the pump, plumbing and drain line in a day and a half. Only delay was waiting for inspection and once that happened they were out next day to replace the concrete.
It was one of the most ""uneventful"" home improvement jobs I've ever contracted, and I mean that in 100% positive way.
They did exactly what I expected them to do. But let me share a couple of things I felt were ""beyond expectations""
Their estimate was based on plans I had drawn up specifying location of pump, drain lines, etc. But after starting, they pointed out to me another option for the drain line that would be shorter and it turned out, less work. I said, great, go ahead. It never occurred to me to ask them to give me new estimate, I assumed same cost. When I got the final invoice, they had reduced the cost by $800 because of the reduced work effort. Completely unsolicited. I was floored. Still am. To me, that demonstrates integrity that is hard to find anymore.
About 18 months after completing the basement, we had our son, wife and baby living downstairs and there was a problem with the toilet, turned out to be the sewage pump was stopped up. I called Hook to come out and look at it (I was none too anxious to open that sucker up myself). They came out they same day, fixed the problem (a diaper that should have never gone in the toilet) and charged me, I don't recall exactly but it think it was under $100 or thereabouts. I expected more so was very pleased.
So. That's my experience, it's been five years and everything still works like a top. If there were six stars I'd give them six
I haven't needed a plumber (knock on wood) since that time, but there is only one number in my ""Rolodex"" under plumber, and it's these good folks.
I can't recommend them enough.
I sent an email late one evening asking for service to repair a broken sink pipe over the coming weekend. I received an email reply very early the next morning indicating that they didn't work on weekends but they could try to work me in later that day. Employees arrived about 10 minutes early, and finished the job within a half hour. They were very professional, friendly, and efficient. Although other reviewers have withheld the 5th star in their reviews because of the manner in which the company bills clients, even though I also found it to be unusual, I did receive top notch service, for which I will remain their loyal customer! Great job, and thank you very much!
I contacted Hooks based on a recommendation from our electrician, Infinite Electric, who is also top notch. Rick Hooks came to replace a tub/shower tap which was leaking, and informed me that I didn't need to replace it, that there was a cheaper fix, replacing the internal parts. I was very happy with this option as it meant not ripping into drywall and possibly chiseling out fairly new tile to get a new tap in there. He fixed it quickly, after going to get the parts, and we don't have anymore leaking or wall repairs. He also replaced our kitchen faucet, which was a fairly straight forward task, but I'm very impressed with his cleanliness once he was finished. In the past, I have had to clean up after plumbers and electricians, but not these guys.
Timothy B.Hello Peggy, I like your copy and paste from the Facebook review that has been deleted from your page. I would have also copy and pasted my reply if it was still on your Facebook page. Obviously you feel you are in the wrong in some sort of way if you deleted my review (at least I do not see it anymore). I have two main points: 1. You asked if I had a garbage disposal here, and I said ""No"". Isn't that enough information to know that it is a new install? Either way, that is not what the review was about. I even said that the work was done properly for a decent price. I was just trying to get what I was quoted. I did not, however like the call after all was done letting me know how I ""insulted"" your company. I told you numerous times that I did not mean it the way you took it and was not insulting your company, but letting you know how it is perceived from other people. If I was here I would have used a more politically way of saying it, and maybe I should have done so to relay the information to you, but I figured it would get the point across better, GET PEOPLE WHO COMMUNICATE WITH THE STAFF!!! The work should have been discussed before continuing if it was going to cost more money. It's called the bait and switch tactic and is very sketchy. AS you have given me such wonderful advice and told me how to do my job, I will tell you how to do yours. You need employees that can talk to the clients when they come in and say., ""Hey, this is not what we were told to do, we need to call the office"" or something along those lines. You need to communicate with the clients before sending a bill for a higher price than what was agreed. When the customer calls to let you know how they feel and what was said, do not argue and state that your business is the best in the area and the client is insulting that. Do not reply to clients reviews in a negative way and insult them after you have already made yourself look like a terrible person. Do not delete reviews from Facebook further proving your guilt. Do not ask simple questions, get simple answers, and expect the client to fill int he gaps. Please take all of these into consideration before booking your next client.
