Mike's journey into entrepreneurship began long before Fixer: after graduating from MIT with degrees in electrical engineering and computer science, he co-founded GrubHub while seeking a way to order pizza online. As GrubHub expanded—and with it, the gig economy it helped create—Mike recognized that gig jobs, even when pursued full-time, often lead to limited career growth. The gig economy resembles my Frankenstein's monster, and Fixer serves as my answer to that—it's a purposeful, W-2 employee, career-oriented model. Mike shares his professional journey in a memoir titled Hangry, set to be published in 2023.

We scheduled an appointment in advance and gave them a list of what needed done. They were scheduled to come out Friday between 9am-1pm. I get a text at 12:18pm stating that they have to cancel my appointment. They gave no reason as to why they needed to cancel. I had already set aside time from my day to be there to show the handyman what needed done. They were extremely disrespectful of my time that I took out of my busy work day and were not able to remedy the situation. I asked for them to please send someone else that day as we had so many things that needed done for our Airbnb but they were not able to send anyone out. I feel this is highly unprofessional to not even give a reason for the cancelation or provide a solution to the problem. I will not be using them again because of their disrespectful attitude towards my business and time. Poor customer service.

I am extremely impressed by the craftsmanship, pride, and friendliness of Ian. I was sincerely shocked by the results at a fair price. He saved me a lot of money. This repair could have been much worse.

I was replacing a toilet in my upstairs master bathroom when I noticed the flange was rotted away as I was picking at it the sub-flooring started going with it. I was very concerned. Even prepared to file a homeowners insurance claim. The old toilet had slowly been leaking into the wood sub-flooring. The insulation fortunately contained the water so no leak downstairs and no mold. Fixer was the only company that could get me a handyman in the same day (competitors were weeks away). Ian stayed until 9pm roughly fixing my sub-flooring and installing a new flange. The attention to detail was impeccable. The job was done at the highest standard. The area around my toilet is now probably the most secure spot in my home.

I highly recommend this business and highly recommend Ian.

I really liked our Fixer Ian. He was super friendly and did great work. It was really easy to book online, and add photos for my projects, and add/delete tasks. I already booked another appointment and hope to have Ian back to help us out. Our gate had a broken wheel and is working great. We also had a door that wouldn't close. He fixed the door latch but also noticed the seal was dried out. So he brought two options to seal it and gave me the choice.

Extremely poor customer service. I contacted them for chandelier installation. Took day off on Friday for them to come at 10 am and do the job. Everything was set as I sent them pictures and dimensions of chandelier way in advance for them to be able to do the job without any issues. They sent me text in morning of job that they would need 2 people now to do it and can't make it today. Would come out 5 days later on Tuesday. Totally BS company. I would never hire them. As a homeowner and not having electrical skills or knowledge to do some of my home repairs, I reached out to Fixer. The repair person was knowledgeable, polite. He replaced a broken GFI outlet and replaced parts on my gas grill ( a difficult repair to access on the grill). So last night I was able to enjoy grilled corn on the cob and steaks. Just in time for the 4th! I will definitely consider Fixer for my next home repair.

I was in need of some help installing a new vanity and other handy people would respond once or twice and then quote an hourly price or only offer a quote if they could come look at the project first. Fixer responded promptly with their hourly rate, outlined that they prorate shopping time and charge to the minute rather than by the hour. They have an online booking system that was easy to use and after providing photos of the project they suggested I book two techs. I was hesitant about that at first but ultimately glad I did. That vanity was HEAVY at about 250 lbs and it was being installed in a very tight space so having two people worked out so I could do other things around my renovation project while they wrangled with the cabinet and plumbing.

Brian and Chang were great. They were prompt, professional, friendly, and kept us in the loop every step of the way. They made sure we were happy with the project and I was comfortable having them in my home and would happily have them back for another project in the future

I also like the fact that the company pays their people, gives them benefits, keeps up with continuing education, vets their people thoroughly, and makes it a point to hire minorities. That did play a role in my decision to hire them for the job.

5/5 would hire them again.
