Don't use these guys for plumbing, especially if you're new to homeownership or unfamiliar with your plumbing system. They convinced us that what should've been a relatively straightforward fix (I learned later) was actually a week-long project involving the replacement of our entire plumbing and water system. When we got the quote, they told us our plumbing system was not functioning and basically draining into the crawl space. Later in the week, when I asked about info for insurance, the head guy told me insurance wouldn't cover it because it was """"unnecessary."""" He also assured us they were taking pictures of everything along the way, but at the end of the week we got a handful of unclear photos of the same one section of pipe. Don't use this company if you don't want to pay an exorbitant amount for unnecessary work that they'll try to convince you is necessary.

I requested an estimate from Greenville SC office to have ducts & dryer vent cleaned. The representative stated they do not clean they only replace ducts......website and TV commercial CLEARLY state these services are provided. Seems shady to me - like maybe just to coerce people into replacing all the ducts and who knows what else would be """"found"""" not good business practices in my option.

I called Five Star for an inspection of the HVAC system in the home I am under contract to purchase. I was disappointed to learn over the phone that Five Star only serves homeowners and does not assist home buyers under contract. I had to go with another company for my HVAC inspection and repair.

So the pilot light wouldn't light on our water heater so I called Five Star, the company that installed the water heater. Well, instead of a technician they sent a salesperson who tried to convince me I needed to spend $4560 on a whole new water heater and that I had to pay for a monthly service plan to get that """"great price""""! FIVE STAR will rip you off to whatever extent you allow them. I got a real technician who fixed the problem for just over $200! DO NOT LET FIVE STAR NEAR YOUR PLUMBING!

After my heat went out last week I called 5-Star and was given a 4 hour appointment window with a 30 minute call ahead. I did not receive any updates from them and 6 1/2 hours later called to talk to a service manager. He said it wasn't his fault that the repairman got caught up on an earlier job but did say they should have communicated it with me. After some discussion, he did send another repairman to my house who quickly told me the problem was """"not good,"""" that my gas valve needed to be replaced to the tune of $1200. After writing up the estimate, he told me that his manager had authorized him to give me a break due to the appointment confusion and that the price was $895. I was not comfortable with this so I called for a second opinion this week and another repair company came out, did a thorough inspection and explained to me how he arrived at his conclusion, which was a clogged pilot line. All that was needed was to disconnect it, clear it out and everything, including my broken gas valve, has been working perfectly since then. Total cost $85. I have called 5-Star 3 times since to try to convey what happened and have not received a phone call back. I would NEVER recommend this company. They are either poorly trained or completely dishonest, neither of which is acceptable to me. If you use them, please get a second opinion.

Gave us an exhorbantly high price of $1700.00 to clean an exit pipe and put in a cleanout valve. Roto Rooter came within the same hour, did it for $400.00 and the cleanout valve was already there. So Five Starr actually LIED and was going to put a cleanup valve in when it was already there!!

5 Star Plumbing Service Their pricing is outrageous, the technician was very quick to identify the problem due to the years experience. The problem was the regulating valve, a simple valve with a water input and output. The replacement required to turn off the water supply, drain the water and remove the old valve and install the new. Then turn water supply back on. Maybe this operation took an hour. The bill was $328.00 with me supplying the part. We had another issue which required a simple replacement part under the sink from Moen. The part is supplied free of charge from the manufacture. I asked if this part could be installed once it came in as it was part of the call. He said """"no"""" and if we wanted it installed it would be another an additional $192.00 for 5 minutes of work. I am 74 and have to have my shoulder replaced is the only reason I requested this simple task. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Our downstairs AC stopped working Friday night. After a call Saturday morning the service representative promised someone would arrive that day, but it might be in the evening. The technician showed up at 8pm and was friendly and attentive even after a long day of working. Realizing the issue was a simple fix caused by our drip pan being full, the technician corrected the issue and ensured all was in working order. We have an annual service plan and when we received our invoice, it was for $0. Even after the same day service, and a 2-hr drive time for the technician, it still didn't cost us anything. Even with similar service plans, other companies surely would have charged us for after-hours and same day service, but not Five Star. Can not recommend enough!

Called them to replace a dryer cord, which is an electrician job. They have electricians, but they don't do anything with appliances. They said to call an appliance repair company. It's not the appliance that needs repair, it is the electrical connection to the wall. Duh!

When my home warranty company could not get someone out to our house for 6 DAYS in 90+ degree SC heat, I knew we had to go with a different option! I called Five Star at 9am on a Friday and they had a service technician out the SAME DAY. Everyone I spoke with, from the initial call, to the lady in dispatch, to the service tech were so friendly, polite, and helpful. I was blown away by the service. Have not experienced anything close--ever! Donnie Davis was our technician and he was so personable, friendly, and most importantly, HONEST, about what our options were. I cannot recommend this company enough. I will not be going with anyone else for our HVAC or plumbing needs going forward! Wonderful experience!
