Justin proposed a cost-saving replacement by using a a less-expensive part and brazing it to part of the old part.

I started with another company for a water heater replacement but had Justin with Five Star Plumbing finish. Justin did a very good job. He was upfront about the cost. I did wish he plumbed the leak pan outlet away from the water heater base/ nook rather than just capping it. He also made superficial cuts to the water heater housing when cutting away the box. Everything else was on point.

Why did I switch to Justin? Well I had a leak that required the water heater nook in the garage to be demo, dried out, and repaired (rebuilt, drywalled and repainted). The other company, Quick Water Heater and Filtration, quoted a price which should have included bringing up to code (earthquake straps, expansion tank, leak pan, new valves and lines) which I asked for explicitly. When the technician came, he told me that the earthquake straps I currently had would be reused, expansion tank and leak pan would be extra. All and all replacing the water heater with them and ensuring code would have been over $3000 (extra $531 to bring to code + rental of a temporary water heater for $795). I needed the rental water heater because the property was occupied and it would take a few days to do the demo, dry out and repair. Quick Water Heater also has a relationship with a restoration company, Swift, which I was not excited to work with. The phone calls with Swift were increasingly sketchy. I don't trust either company and refuse to pay more (than the cost to temporarily rent a water heater) to Quick Water Heater and Filtration.

Fantastic service! Justin returned my call within 5 mins after I left a voice mail!! Scheduled replacing one of the toilets fill valve and one of the showers cartridge. It was replaced in no time for a great price! Highly recommend ""Five Star Plumbing"".

I had water leaking under the toilet called Five Star and he was out the next day right on time and removed the toilet and fixed the flange on the floor and was done and gone in 45 minutes. Great job and reasonable on the cost.

I had a problem with my shower where the cold water wasn't coming out. I had several plumbers come and take a look and they all tried to rob me of my money by selling unnecessary services/repairs. One guy was like ""oh i can't fix it until we make sure the water is of the right pressure and that your water heater is too old and needs to be replaced"". Justin on the other hand is honest and straight-forward. I sent him a photo of the shower, told him that I had already tried replacing the cartridge but still no cold water. He then suggested it's the balancing spool that needs to be replaced. He was honest in letting me know that he doesn't have the specialized tool to easily replace it but will do some research on how to do it without the specialized tool. On the day of the repair, he came on time and was able to replace the balancing spool and fix the problem in 15 minutes.
