John is an outstanding problem solver and does top quality work! I hired John for two projects. The first repairing 6 original double-hung windows (some dating back to 1928), where the sash cords needed to be replaced and reattached to the lead counterweights so the windows would open and close easily. The second renovating some exterior wood trim of our Tudor-style home. For this second project, we discussed several approaches for completing the renovation, talking through the pros and cons of each. I was impressed with John's knowledge and his pragmatic approach. Highly recommended! I'm sure I will hire him again.

John replaced our back deck and a small banister. he always showed up when he said he would, worked diligently while here and finished early! Doesn't get better than that. Looking around the house now for other projects for him, would recommend him any day of the week. Oh, and his work was excellent!

John is on point! Attention to details with all of his work. He did a project here at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay, for my department. These partitions walls are perfect, blends in with the hotel surrounds. John has great communication about all of the details, and it we had any changes to the project. John is my choices for any project moving forward in the Bay Area!

Very satisfied with John & his work. He communicated promptly & was reliable. He was knowledgeable about what was needed re my wooden steps and when he wasn't he said so & attempted to find out. I would definitely hire him again.

John did a great job sanding, finishing and cutting down our coffee table. He really listened to our requests on style and finish and the end product was exactly what we wanted. It was expensive but definitely worth it! Highly recommended!

Good quality. Worth every penny! He's very respectful and considerate. He is a very caring person. He is a real craftsman. It seems like he knows how to fix anything. I'm happy to finally find someone I can count on.

Great Work! and Great Guy! Finally a carpenter who cares about what he's doing.
I'm getting really sick of these guys that come to our house, and just spend the minimum amount of time to satisfy the job, leaving things looking crappy and in some cases barely functional. I'm also getting sick and tired of contractors that when I don't specify something to an exact T, they do a $#!% job and then blame me for not being specific enough. We had an Electric Vehicle charger installed at our house, and like--should it really have been up to me to specify, in advance, that we didn't want big fat plastic electric conduit lines running along the front face of our house? I thought things like that would have been obvious TO NOT DO. That's why we hire professionals. So they'll install it properly--out of view. Well, So-Called-Professionals is what they should be called. Anyway, enough of that rant. Hollander is the opposite of that. He's great.
He listens carefully to our needs, takes notes, and has often offered some very on-point suggestions. We decided to try him out, and it's been great ever since. And we've always gotten the sense that he cares for our home like it was his own.
We first found out about him through Craigslist (before he had a Yelp account) and he's completed dozens of projects for us. We couldn't be happier.

John finished an odd, but specific, cabinet / built in bookcase modification today. It was exactly what was requested.
Also, reasonable cost, always on time, and quick turn around on communication.
Will be my first call on the next project.

John just rebuilt the railing of our backyard deck that had fallen down due to the recent rain storms. He did a great job and was a pleasure to work with. He was quick and responsive and provided a very reasonable bid that he followed up on. I appreciated how he left the work site immaculate and took care of all finishing details very quickly. We plan on hiring him for other upcoming work and I would highly recommend him for others to work with.
