Dave L.These guys are absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend them to anyone on Long Island. We're planning on selling our house in Patchogue, and realized we hadn't serviced our cesspool the entire time I've owned the house, over 10 years (I know, I know, bad homeowner!). Plus we had just had a small sinkhole open up in our backyard which we thought might be related. So we asked our neighbors who had had some work done in the last year or so, and they highly recommended ClearRiver Environmental.
The only negative, I would say, was that the scheduling was a little vague. They said ""We might be able to fit you in sometime this weekend. We'll call you later with a two-hour window, and then give you another call when the crew is 30min away."" No call ever came, so I placed another call to follow up later in the week. They were able to give a definite date and time window during that call, so we were all good.
Brian and Hector came at the scheduled time. They were polite, knowledgeable, and got right to work. We had an unusual problem which took some time to get to the bottom of, but they were diligent in their investigation and wouldn't leave until they'd gotten to the bottom of it. Our heads were spinning a little with the possibility of having to replace our whole system to the tune of a few thousand dollars, but it turned out that all we needed was a patch where the pre-fab cesspool had ruptured. They couldn't do the job right then and there, which was understandable because they weren't really equipped for that service, but got us all scheduled for an estimate on the spot. The very reasonable fee they charged for coming out and diagnosing the problem is going to come off of the cost of the patch job, so it was basically a free visit, which is extremely generous.
THEN, later the very same day, our cesspool started overflowing. We got right back on the phone with them. Paula helped us schedule an emergency visit for the very next day. John came out, even though it was Father's Day, and it was his first as a new father :). And just like Brian and Hector, he was extremely polite, professional, and wouldn't leave until the problem was solved. We again found that the solution was simpler than the dreaded full system replacement, and this time, they didn't charge us at all.
Extremely generous. Great company. Great people. 10/10 can't recommend enough.
I too used Clear River and had a great experience. My house was built in 1975 had precast pools but unfortunately had periodic line clogs due to roots in my main cesspool line. My husband called Clear River and the service man was there within 2 hours. They cleared the line and explained bad line was cause of our frequent problems. I was told I could change the line for approximately $1,800.00 or if I choose the State & County was offering Grant monies to install a new State-of-the-Art advanced septic system. Yes, at the end of the year I will be responsible for the tax on the Grants which I estimated to be $1,600.00 in tax. But, in the long run it was smarter to pay the government the $1,600.00 for a new system versus paying $1,800.00 to make a repair on an old cesspool. Sounds to me like repairing an old cesspool is like sinking good money into a car with 300,000 miles. These people were fantastic and the man I spoke with was very professional explaining everything so I could make a good decision. At the end, Red the machine operator who installed my new system treated my property like it was his own! Highly recommend them!!!!!
Always get a second opinion when using this company. They told us we needed a 20k new cesspool (but that they could put in a septic tank that is covered by the town instead, which would be ""free""). We had a second and third opinion come who told us that our cesspool was in great shape, we just needed to replace the pipe. We later found out that we would've been hit with a huge tax bill for the septic system. After a simple pipe replacement, we are up and running.
I had the same experience as John L. Quoted the $475 price to pump at 9am, irrigate and chemicals. I waited for the heads-up call half an hour before arrival that I never got. Instead they show up at 4 pm open the two pools - the main, and overflow. Told I needed to unblock the main for an additional $375.
They put in the main pool equipment to aerate blowing air in, never removing the sewage (I stayed to watch the whole process) added sulphuric acid (I asked for less corrosive agent) when I questioned why if they had they pumped, as they told me they had is the level of the sewage down only 6""? Total: $780. In my opinion, a company that subcontracts to people lacking integrity and honesty should be your last resort. People who know say that I only needed to have a roto root job and a pump, as the overflow had no sewage in it.
Clear River Environmental should be avoided like the plague
The owner (Dave) was very nice to give me a call after getting involved and voided the additional $320. He called me a few times and I appreciate him taking his time to help with this. Feel so much better about my experience with them and I will do business with them in the future. My review was never based on the performance because they do great work.
Lorraine W.Best Cesspool company out there fast and dependable 24/7 service!! Anytime we call they always respond to all our needs! Highly Recommend them to all!
John L.If you are actually reading this, I highly recommend you just start calling someone else at this point. When I called for service I was told 475 for the one cesspool. The service man comes and say that is only good for the first 1000 gallons and if I want another 1000 gallons it's another 300 plus 375 to snake the line. To me I have used other companies but I was desperate and needed it done. I was given a promise they would come first thing busy instead they came later the next day in the after 2pm. Worst part was the driver didn't even have a snake and someone else needed to come later on that day to complete. Do not use this company at all. ClearRiver cesspool will hit you for more money and give you BS. My fiend used to own a cesspool company but he is retired and even stated they ripped me off. Please be aware of this company.
From my first interaction with Charlie of Clearriver Environmental Cesspool to my last visit with Charlie tonight aa well as Kevin Al Dave and the other workers I have dealt with during my plumbing issues I am extremely impressed with the professionalism and courteous service of all the workers that I've come in contact with!!
Thank you

I gave Dave (owner) and his partner Kevin (""Back Hoe"" operator) one star for getting the cesspool in the ground.
-1 star for cutting the top half of my tree off.
-1 star for breaking my sidewalk.
-1 for not returning my phone calls (untill I informed him of legal action.
-1 for insulting me to accept $220.00 for a tree he damaged worth between $1000.00 and $2000.00 (est. by tree expert).
Also for the care free attitude of Kevin when he blamed his Back Hoe for the tree damage.
As for the sidewalk, Dave said the town will repair it. Wrong, the town representative saw the damage and told me to call the town office and report the cesspool company. They are responsible for the sidewalk damage.
As Kevin and his men departed down the street on there merry way, I was left with a mess, uneven ground, half of the tree laying in the street (I think I heard the tree crying) I know my wife was. Dave did come back the next day and his first offer was to replace the tree with a tree 1/4 of its trunk size. What a guy, I wanted to hug him......not.
That was the last I heard of Dave for four weeks. In that period of time all I got was excuses after excuses.
Oleh B.Great Service, came within 2 hours after i called them, located the cesspool in 5 minutes, and finished everything 30 minutes later, also gave me helpful advice for maintenance and longer life cycle. Everything was left neat and clean and price was in line with other local companies i called. Overall very happy with service and would recommend the company.
