Robert O.Would give them no stars if possible. Called them two months ago to have our furnace serviced and to have a new thermostat installed. They didn't have any available appointments for two months. Decided to schedule them anyway since their stickers were plastered all over my furnace and water heater. The week of the appointment comes and they call to reschedule for the following week. At this point I figure what's one more week.
Day of the appointment the technician arrives an hour past the window I was given, which given the time of year and that it's a day after a holiday, is reasonable. Asked me to confirm that the appointment was for a service on my furnace, which I confirmed, adding the thermostat installation, which he has no notes for. Take him into our basement to show him the furnace and is immediately informed that they refuse to work on the type of furnace that I have. He then called his office to ask about installing the thermostat and is told not to do the installation because if anything went wrong they will not come back out to fix their work.
Turns out, after calling them back to find out why they took the appointment, the only work they ever did for this house was to certify the heating for the home's previous owners when the house was sold.
How do you certify a heating system if you refuse to work on it? I will be calling the township to complain that a company that refuses to work on the type of heating system we have was used to certify it for a home sale.
Gretchen D.During a seasonal check of our house heater, PGW flagged a broken part that needed to be fixed before we could turn our heat on. We've previously hired Fante's for plumbing work and were really happy with them, so we decided to call them about this heater problem. Technician Jeff arrived on time on the appointed day, confirmed PGW's assessment of the issue, and explained our options (replace the broken part, or consider a new heater since ours is near the end of its lifespan). After some discussion, we opted to make the repair, which he did quickly and cleanly, and at the quoted price. Great to have Fante's as a trusted resource, and we will definitely hire them again.
Heather T.We literally just got HVAC installed this week and I cannot explain to you how professional kind and wonderful this company was. They even are submitting rebates for us so we don't have to do it so that we will get checks sent to us in a couple months. From A-to-Z this company was just wonderful. We could not be happier and with such a big project, for it to go seamlessly says a lot. It was done over the course of four days and there was a weekend in between the project and over the weekend they even texted to check in and make sure we were doing OK because we had lost power in our kitchen briefly. I rarely give five stars out but I could not recommend them more!
The worst company in New Jersey when it comes to professionalism, office manners and punctuality. They failed to show up to two appointments and called 30 minutes past the schedule window time to notify us of the fact that they could not make it. The office staff was rude and sarcastic on the phone and refused to check with tech for his ETA on arrival. They also notified us that they charge for estimates. So, if they charge customers for their estimates that just tells one that not too many customers request their services after all. Stay away to avoid any headaches. And by the way, I represent a multimillion dollar company with 26 commercial buildings in New Jersey and non of our properties will be utilising this service ever again. You only have one chance in business to make a first impression! And they made it - load and clear - Unprofessional and Unreliable!
Fante's did a leak test to determine why the AC unit on our commercial building was low on freeon. The technician determined he needed a part he did not have on hand in order to get the unit working again. Next thing I know the office staff is calling me to get paid for the $300 leak test before even telling me what needed to be done or giving me a quote to get the unit working again. They seemed more interested in their $300 invoice than getting the AC unit working. This despite the fact that I bought (2) AC units at over 20k from them for a different property and a several thousand dollar repair for a third property within the prior 12 months. The response from the owner was obnoxious and indifferent to my complaint. I had forgotten about prior poor experiences with this company, but will not forget again. I will be needing (3) AC units for a commercial property in the next few months and I won't be getting them from Fante's.
Fante's installed a new A/C unit and furnace about 10 years ago in our home. We have never made it through a season without having to call them to fix or replace something to make it work correctly. We turned it on again a couple weeks ago and once again we had to make a call. Fante's sent out a service tech who basically said that we had to replace the system, a system that never worked correctly. Instead of recognizing this has been a constant problem for the past 10 years they waited for it to become out of warranty and quoted us an outraged price for a new system. We asked to speak to Jeff but we were told he was never available. This is a horrible company that does not stand behind their products and service. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Call them at your own risk.
Fante's installed a Lennox heating and air conditioning system in our attic about six years ago. Have some water marks appear on our ceiling but didn't think much about it. We had another company coming to do a routine check up on the system. The first thing the technician told us was that the furnace was installed incorrectly. I was shocked. He then explained the furnace was not installed to meet manufacturer specifications. Condensing furnace should not be exposed to freezing temperatures in an unconditioned attic space. This is spelled out on the manual. We had to sign a liability release form for them because they were not the one that installed the system but has identified this problem. I got the manual and looked at it myself and I did find the statement that says the furnace is not to expose to unconditioned space. I called Fante's to question them about installing a system not meeting manufacturer specifications. The answer I got was the job was approved by the township inspector. If there was a problem, the installation would not be approved. Well, with all that, wouldn't an experienced company know which type of system is to install in the attic? They are the expert, right?
The system started to have an E201 error which is a communication error between the control and the motor. Fante's came to do a diagnosis for $170 (coming to the door for $95 and diagnosis for $75. The diagnosis was to replace the motor for $300 (labor only). The motor is still under warranty. They came to install a new motor a day after and found that the new motor they had was not working. The technician installed our old motor back to the system and ordered another motor to be installed as soon as they could get one. Ironically, the old motor started working after the technician left. We talked to Fante's. The person said their diagnosis was correct and the motor would not fix itself. His recommendation was replacing the motor even though it was working. We canceled the appointment of installing another new motor cause we did not trust their words. Our old motor has been working for almost another month now. The conclusion is either the diagnosis was incorrect or the old motor did fix itself. Wonder how much experience they have with a system that is installed not according to manufacturer specifications. Would the changing of temperatures affect the efficiency of the system or the durability of the parts?
Bridget C.They inspected my HVAC unit per my condominium association requirement. They determined that I needed a new motor. So far I concur. They installed my new motor which took less than 15 minutes. A few months later, when I was using the heat more consistently, the furnace stopped working. They came out a fixed it (the fix took less than 15 mins) and charged me for the work. Something I believe they should have seen had they done a diligent inspection.
I feel like I've been ripped off. Also, after complaining to my service tech, he assured me that management would contact me on the next business day. I never heard from them which is why I am posting this poor review.
3rd water heater in 3 yrs. But the bigger issue is with the $90 tin basin under the tank that Lowes sells for $18. You would think after the 3rd water tank in 15 years they would just throw that in on a $1300 bill. The replacement tank they showed up with had a big dent.
I had Fante's install a new Lennox heating and air conditioning system in my home. I found the installers, Cody and Bill to be extremely professional, pleasant, knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. I would certainly recommend Fante's 100%. Aside from being professional, their pricing was excellent.
Great company to deal with from beginning to end.
