I scheduled an appointment, received a text to confirm, the service call was scheduled between 8-830 AM, at 9 AM I called to inquire and was told yes your confirmed your appointment someone will be there shortly. It is now 1030 AM, 2-2.5 hours late, no one showed up, not even a phone call to say they are running late, or will need to reschedule. What a way to make a first impression, as I have never used them before, but never will or will not recommend to anyone. They are unreliable. Do Not Use
I ended up using these guys to service my heat-pump because they bought out the last company that I used and I still had one service appointment left on my contract from the old company. When I tried to schedule the appointment in early October, FH Furr told me that the soonest they could schedule me was late November (!). So after waiting over a month for this appointment, I grew even more frustrated when I called them the day before and they were unable to give me any kind of estimate as to when the tech would arrive. I guess they expected me to block out an entire work day for the 30 minute maintenance appointment? Then when the tech finally did arrive, he tried to up sell me by recommending that I either buy a new heat pump system or do $2000 worth of upkeep on my current system (which works fine, by the way). Oh yeah.. and all of that is supposedly much cheaper if I sign up for their yearly membership program. Then he left the dirty filter at my house. What poor customer service--from start to finish. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere.
Kenneth L.While the quality of the work I had done was fine, their pricing was excessively high. I had a filtration system added to my house and the charge was 3x what I would have expected. I also fell for the membership deal. While it saved me money on the work done, that bill should have been half of what I paid. My wife had seen their ad at Costco and we assumed that Costco would only work with reputable firms. I'm not convinced of that anymore.
I also had them out to inspect my boiler. I was told that it was putting out too much CO2 and was dangerous. It is more than 20 years old, so I didn't think that was unreasonable. I was smart enough to tell them to wait after getting an estimate from them. On the third estimate, I had a master plumber in to give me an estimate and after a 5-minute look, he told me that all it needed was a good cleaning. Did it and it works like a champ. Saved more than $7K with that discovery. FH Furr was just out to take my money.
Don't use them.
A word of advice for people dealing with FH Furr. During our first interaction with them, I resisted the pressure to replace a perfectly fine air conditioning unit for a few thousand dollars for some new unit rather than just clean the existing one, but I fell for the $160 membership deal due to the fact that it comes with 4 free inspections. I just called FH Furr because we are having issues with uneven heating from our furnace unit and thought I would try and schedule an inspection to see if there was a problem. I called today, November 19, and the earliest day I could get an inspection done is December 31! They certainly don't tell you when you sign up for a membership that you need to schedule inspections at least 6 weeks in advance. When I said this to the person on the phone, she said that is just how it is. So, consumer beware, don't fall for the hard sell if you use FH Furr! Their business model seems to be to try and sell you expensive fixes and if you don't fall for that, buy a membership that is incredibly difficult to use. Maybe if I book now I might be able to get an inspection for the spring start-up of our air conditioner!!
FH Furr sent a technician to our home to take at our outdoor lighting, since some of the lights were broken.
After walking around the property, he asked to see the main panels, supposedly because it was necessary for the work outdoors. After looking at the panels for a while he told us that BOTH main panels needed to be replaced because there was some overheating issues, and that they could melt or they could catch a fire.
He even said they could do it the following day, since it was a dangerous situation. Evidently, we were scared about it, but decided to contact the home inspector, since we bought the house two months ago, and he hadn't mentioned anything. He said he hadn't seen anything wrong with the panels.
Still, we called another master electrician to come look at the panels, and he said the same thing. NOTHING wrong with either one of the panels.
FH FURR gave us an estimate of $12,000 to replace both main panels, gave us a false impression that we were in imminent danger in our home, when it wasn't true.
Additionally, he also mentioned that one of our AC units was almost dying and that it'd need to be replaced soon because it didn't look good - again, we had just bought the house, and the home inspector didn't see anything wrong with the AC units and they work perfectly fine.
They were clearly trying to take advantage of us, instilling fear in us and making a huge sale of something we didn't need at all.
This is clear unnecessary overselling, and I would even say attempted fraud, since they were lying to us to make us spend a huge amount of money for a completely unnecessary work.
Wish I had read these reviews prior to calling them for an estimate. But they have a contract with Costco and I trusted Costco to only pair with honest companies. My mistake.
I requested an estimate for a new AC condenser unit. Gabrielle came out and spent 2 1/2 hours looking at my system, answering questions, taking pictures, etc. He quoted me what I felt to be a fair price and I wrote a check and we scheduled the installation.
The day before the installation Gabrielle called to let me know the installation had been cancelled because someone else had looked at my system and there were problems. I guess the problem was that I wasn't spending enough money because they tried to tell me my 3 year old furnace was ""all wrong"" and needed to be replaced. They said my furnace is oversized for the house. Even if that's true, it's a matter of efficiency, not one of safety. Michael Shields, a manager called me. He tried the tactic of well since we'll be there anyway, we'll sell you a new furnace at cost. Yeah right. That's one of the oldest bait and switch tricks around. I informed him there was no way I was trashing a 3 year old furnace and that I wanted to cancel the installation completely and I wanted my check mailed back to me. He assured me that he would send it back. That was October 1st. Today is October 25th and I finally called and once again asked for my check to be returned. After speaking with two different people, I was told my check would be mailed back today.
Why wasn't it mailed out the first time I asked to have it returned? Unacceptable! I will also be filing a complaint with Costco.
My outside Mitsubishi condenser was not functioning and FH Furr was the only one of three that was able to get a technician to inspect it - one star. The communication of when the technician was to arrive was good - one star. The technician arrived and inspected the unit and gave his assessment in a professional manner - one star. Then he made me wait about 20 minutes to receive the paperwork- no stars. And then he quoted a price of $1,050 for a part that can be found online for $120... I didn't ask further about labor cost - can I give negative points? Overall, I found this company to be responsive and professional, but I felt like when it came to getting a quote that they turned into a used car salesman... I won't be calling again.
Terrible Experience. I called them for an issue with my HVAC. The first technician came out and barely examined the system. He said I needed a new thermostat and that he didn't have on on the truck. I replaced it. That wasn't the issue. I knew way more than he did about the system. Then I got a total run around by dispatch on timed for a new and more knowledgeable tech to come out. I got put off 3 times. Then when I called in the woman in dispatch said they spoke to my husband that morning. Ummm...that was me on the phone and I'm not married (she thought I was a woman). Get it together! That was insulting! They have people working for them who have no clue. I'm ANGRY! 8 days without A/C over this company. I'd call anyone else but FH Furr.
I called F.H. Furr to look at my A/C unit in my house because it is getting hot upstairs in the afternoon and evening. The technician they sent over was not the least bit concerned with a solution to my hot upstairs problem. He just opened the staircase entrance and said there was no need to go there and then closed the entrance. He then asked to see my circuit breaker box and said I had 5 or 6 breakers that needed replacing. The breakers have worked just fine for the last 27 years. He said the brand of the breaker did not match the brand of the electrical box. When I asked about the heat upstairs he said that I needed to contact a roofer and maybe an attic fan would help, but he always heard roof venting worked better. He then went out to his van for half and hour and came back with estimates that included a Ting.com product that I did not request and did not need. His estimates included several combinations, the first being a combined cost for the Ting app, replacing breakers and installing an attic fan for $3,000+. The estimate for only the attic fan was $1,200. Replacing the breakers would be another $600. This has to be the worst customer service I have seen yet. They are only looking to take your cash for things you don't need. Go somewhere else for solutions to your HVAC problems!
Susan G.We have ceased to use FH Furr. Am posting this so Everyone out there knows what to be aware of and how these guys operate. The list - We have been told we needed to replace a porcelain toilet because it is obsolete. We have been told that our water is too hard and destroys the flapper valve in our toilets (which is rather interesting as we have 4 bathrooms yet only one was affected) and have been told that we need to buy a water conditioner for over $8000 to fix the ""hard water issue"". We have been told that our drain stoppers are limiting the water flow out of the sink which is why it is backing up - this in a bathroom with duel sink vanity and the other sink with the exact same hardware and it works fine. We have been told after a $400 repair to same flapper noted above that we needed to sign the authorization to complete the job when it was already done - WITHOUT an estimate. We have been told that we would get preferential treatment by becoming a preferred customer by paying a monthly fee and they would come out every Spring and Fall for a check up but yet I have to call EVERY season to get them to come and we finally got an appt for Summer AC in late July - reason? I quote from Adam - ""because of the severe weather we have had a lot of outages and we are dealing with those first. So even if you are a preferred customer we are doing you guys last. So sorry - we will try to fit you in when
we can."" WHY AM I PAYING FOR THIS?!????!? Honestly?
This company is out to grab whatever cash they can. They take advantage of people not knowing. This company is a PREDATOR! Preys on consumers. Please do yourselves a solid and STAY AWAY!
