Never trust this company. Ever. I waited 3 days without air conditioning and they assured me they would be here. Then half way through the day they were to come, they bailed saying they had too many contract services to provide and couldn't see me until... tomorrow? No. The next day? No. The weekend? No. NEXT WEEK. Next week. Untrustworthy, unreliable, in over their heads as a business. Go to anyone but them.
FH Furr did a competent job of installing my furnace and air conditioner although they sold me a very large unit and didn't tell me how physically large it was. They didn't think about how to get it into my inaccessible backyard. It would not fit through any of my doors. After finally dropping in from above a wall, it took several service visits to get the air conditioner coolant pressure corrected so that the unit functioned properly. My biggest beef with them is regarding their policies. I purchased an extended warranty that included parts and labor, but they will not honor it because they did not perform the service on the units. I had another company under a service contract because FH Furr wanted a contract but would not service appliances they did not install. Why would I pay for that? I'd still have to pay someone else to service my hot water heater. In short I find them to be more interested in dollars earned than performing actual service. Not honoring a warranty is unethical.
Since installation of our Lennox heating cooling system in Nov 2014, the customer service the FH Furr so proudly boasts about has not been delivered in any sense. First the installation was sloppy and messy and required a call back to have a technician come out to clean up the mess that was left. After purchasing the ""Platinum Preferred Partner Protection Plan"" for a yearly fee of $263.00, I've received no treatment that made me feel as if I got a platinum plan, nor did I ever feel that I got ""preferred treatment"" and certainly didn't feel like a ""partner"". A call to set up preventative maintenance visit was met with ""we're busy, we don't have enough technicians, you'll have to wait for over a month; this is preferred treatment? Most recently, I called to schedule another preventative maintenance visit only to find out that the ""Platinum Preferred Partner Protection Plan"" for a yearly fee of $263.00 only covers 1 visit, not at all what was expected based on the sales pitch for this service plan. My phone message to a supervisor, Shane, has yet to be followed up on (3 days later). Again, not even close to ""Platinum Preferred Partner Protection Plan"" for a yearly fee of $263.00.
That said, the Lennox system is great, and I don't regret buying it. However, I completely regret allowing FH Furr to be the company to provide the service. From their website, to the paperwork received for the purchased unit, to the canned information customers hear while waiting for their calls to be answered, nothing but talk about how special customers are, how much FH Furr appreciates their business, etc. None of that has been my experience and I would urge anyone to have another company provide service to them.
Frank F.If you want to be overcharged by twice as much as the other competitors in the area for a new HVAC installation then this is the company to call.
I had purchased a home in 2009 that required a new HVAC system. Since they were the only company that could do it as fast as I needed. I paid a bit more than i should have and I knew it but I really wasn't concerned about it because I had received the home buyer rebate at the time. When they came to my house they couldn't fit the system I was quoted on and they had to come back. Then they charged me more when they blamed a problem on a pipe not being able to support their system. I was upset and they wouldn't work with me on their mistake.
Fast forward to 2016. I called FH Furr and set them up as bid #3 for a new AC unit at my new home just to gauge the other bids and my knowledge of the costs associated with a job of the size I required. Their representative,Craig, was a nice guy but I could tell by the way he was talking about the system that it was going to be a high bid. He looked at his surface tablet, wrote some numbers on a piece of paper, ""applied"" the 10% military discount and quoted me a price of $10,000. How I held back laughing in his face i don't know. He asked me what I thought about the price. I said he was DOUBLE what the job should cost. He told me no one would do the job for that price. I said funny, I have quotes for someone who will because that's what the job should cost. I then told him that I have a family member who owns a large HVAC company in California and he told me the price it should be also. He then tried to BS some items that the other company would not do to try and justify this ridiculously high bid. He also bad mouthed the representative from the other company and said he used to work for their company and by the bid you can see why. I said why because he actually charges what its supposed to be not the rip off double price? He used the term overhead for one of his justifications for this high bid. I told him if you need to charge double what the job costs across the industry, you have some serious issues with your company to have an overhead like that. He realized he had walked into an informed consumers home at that point and quickly high tailed it out of my house.
This company charges and quotes outrageous prices to cover their overhead of an insane amount of commercials on TV. You will not receive any better service from this company over any of their competitors. All you are paying for is their advertising costs. Only call to compare against other quotes and to have a good laugh.
We own a 57 year old home. Our kichen sink was plugged and we call F.H Furr Pluming for help. They charged us $650 to sink the line. After the work was done we were told the line is not completely unplugged because of type of the pluming that we have (shouldn't they know base on the age of the home?)and there is no warranty on the work !! I called the service manager and he confirmed that they don't provide warranty. Reason he gave me was they don't know what difficult they will in counter when they go for repair. Why any one hire a plumber if they don't know what are the problem they have to overcome to get the job done. Watch out!
Sean M.Requested quote and got the run around. On to the next business to spend my hard earned money. Would suggest you respect your potential customers time. Good luck.
Lang L.Unclear fee structure so beware. I was told by the person scheduling that they would waive the $115 fee and that I would only have to pay for repair costs if they had the parts in the truck. If they come out and have to order special parts and come back, they would charge a $75 for a revisit fee. I agreed to have them come out. When the technician arrived, he told me he couldn't do anything due to the unit being frozen and that I had to pay $75 for the visit. It was not apparent from the outside that the unit was frozen and I had run auxiliary heat for two days to allow the unit to melt, but it didn't melt completely due to the quantity of ice inside and the cold temps outside. After explaining that I wasn't informed of such a fee, he said that he couldn't do anything about it. I called the office and they said they couldn't do anything about it and would have a manager call me. The manager called the technician (instead of me) and told him to tell me that I should pay the fee and call them back once the unit is unfrozen to get work done on it. At that point they'd apply the $75 towards the repairs. Considering that I was initially told one thing regarding fees and then the technician charged me anyways, I don't think that I can trust they would hold up their end of their bargain on this new offer. Considering my unit is 14 years old, it would have been better for them not to nickle and dime me for this fee since during the visit, I had decided to buy a new unit when they said my unit was 14 years old. Now I'm definitely going to buy it from someone else. Never going to use F.H. Furr again!
Complete ripoff. The water supply line to our toilet started leaking whileII was away on a business trip. My wife shut off the water and called F.H. Furr. Big mistake! While F. H. Furr arrived quickly and replaced the water supply line to the toilet in about 15 minutes, the service tech proceeded to label ever hose bib, every valve, the furnaces, the water heater, etc. with a sticker with F.H Furr´s phone number. Two hours later, he presented my wife with a bill for $300!! My wife did not know we were ¨on the clock"" while F.H. Furr put their marketing stickers on everything. It was completely unnecessary and ran up the bill for no reason. The actual repair was a service call, 15 minutes of labor plus a $15 supply line. I have no idea how this ended up costing $300
Save a few bucks - call some one else if you need plumber.
I returned home, from a business trip, to find the temperature inside my house at 46 degrees. I called F.H. Furr, because they installed the system, about 7:45 in the evening, after an hour I called back and the person checked and said that a message had been sent after my original call. After another hour, about 10pm, I was fed up and called Michael & Son. Within an hour they had 2 personnel at my house, diagnosed and fixed the problem. I did receive a call back from F.H Furr at 7 the next morning. I will NEVER do business with this company again. I highly recommend MICHAEL & SON!!!! They were awesome.
Mitch T.Replaced dead furnace and old air conditioning with new furnace and heat pump. Estimator Sean was very thorough, very clear on what they would do and why. He emphasized they did things without cutting corners, and compared to the other bid I got, I could see several differences, at least one would have been a major inspection failure if I'd gone with the other company. It did result in a higher price than the other bid I got, by about $2500. While I appreciate that level of excellence, I think that big a price differential was not justified. Had I not had the Costco rebate I would not have gone with them (they include the Costco rebate in their price calculations, so it's hard not to think the prices are higher to offset that--I don't know that is the case, it just makes you wonder). The install team was outstanding for their professionalism, courtesy, the way their work looked, and the way they left the work area. Unfortunately I think there were a couple training issues. The heat pump was not working because they didn't open a jumper, and the electrical inspection failed due to wires not being marked as hot. Furr was VERY responsive in getting people out to rectify these issues.
