This company employs a classic bait and switch strategy. Express was referred to me by Service Magic when I need a hot water heater replacement. They quoted me a fixed installation price of $500.00 for a straight swap out of old for new water heater. When they came to see the job they told me that the job was a straight swap out but going to take two men and the location of the appliance under the home presented a difficult removal problem. They then said the installation (only) cost would be $1500. I asked what if you were to leave the old one under the house. They said, fine that would be $750 for installation. I asked what about the $500.00 fixed price. He said that was for a a 40 gal tank and mine was a 50.

I pointed out that installing a 40 gal tank took just as much work as a 50 and besides I had told them before the appt. I wanted a 50 gal tank and the location was under the two story home (which is very accessible). I told the installer to leave, I would not do business with Express.

The company that eventually did do the installation, did it using one man, and completed the removal of the old and installation of the new in 2 hours, at an installation cost below $500.00.
