TL;DR: Our entire sewer system was rotted out. Paul and team pulled and replaced over 80 feet of sewer pipe in the house -- inside a 3 foot high crawlspace, leaving no stone unturned to do the job right the first time.

Because we watched every step as they got further into the job, we know they weren't adding random work to pad the bill.

We noticed water coming out from under our house after a PG&E inspection while they were running new gas pipes in the neighborhood. A neighbor recommended we call Paul and he came by within 2 hours with a handful of crew. When we flushed an upstairs toilet, he saw water spraying out of our 60-foot main sewer line just under the vertical pipe.

They had to cut through a cabinet and the kitchen wall to get to the junction and then had to cut a hole through the outside wall to get the long 3"" replacement pipes into the crawlspace. With multiple crew members above and below, they disconnected the old sewer line and moved the new one into place.

Before they connected the new pipe to the rest of the line going to the street, they ran a camera snake. We watched and saw lots of light coming in. Yes, the main sewer pipe was corroded to the point that it was not even closed and raw sewage was dumping under our house, for who knows how long.

They did further exams while we watched - the other verticals and horizontals. Every sewer pipe in the house was rotted out. And our house was built without a clean-out in front - so if the city sewer backed up, there was no place for the water to go except into our house. Don't know how that passed inspection 35 years ago. So they needed to jackhammer through our concrete patio and dig down 5 feet to the pipe to install the clean out.

To wrap up, the dollar cost turned out to be a lot more money than we wanted to spend, but on the other hand, we know that the job was done and done right and we should never have to worry about our sewer lines again.

As for the PG&E inspection, that had nothing to do with our problems, but they most likely saw that our pipes were rotted and it would have been nice if they told us.

Paul and his team just finished replacing two lateral sewer lines. One required a trench and the other was trench-less. The trench-less also required that they break through our concrete patio. Work was finished on time and of high quality. Paul was very patient with the City of San Carlos as the job required two different permits and they were very slow to react to his requests. I felt Paul's initial consultation was high value versus the 2 other consults I got and his estimate mirrored the final job cost. Additionally, when his team left, it was like they were never here as they cleaned meticulously. I can't say enough about Paul and his team. I highly recommend them.

Expert Rooter & Plumbing is simply the best plumbing company in the Bay Area! Since moving into my place in San Mateo, they have come to the rescue on numerous occasions! A few years ago, my water heater flooded the garage and Paul saved the day by coming the next morning and installing a new one. He and his crew are ultra professional and honest! More recently, Paul had part of his crew, Anthony and his colleague come fix a leaking garden pipe (we initially thought the main street pipe was leaking) and he was kind enough to take care of other leaks in the same visit even though it was at the end of the day. What can I say about Paul and his crew? Super professional, efficient and honest. I'm a musician and do a lot of production work. I have to pay attention to all the details, the small things that make a production pop. So I have a keen eye for quality when I see it.
