Steve and Jay were amazing. They came and fixed our clogged drain in no time! They were early which was excellent, friendly and efficient. We will be hiring them for another job (putting a utility sink in the laundry room) and they're coming back next week. Couldn't be more pleased with their service! Saved in our phone book!

We had an emergency and Excellence Plumbing really came through. One of our exterior drains was plugged and this resulted in a couple inches of water in our basement. I called the highest rated plumbers on Yelp and Excellence Plumbing answered right away. I called at 7:30AM and they were at my door in less than 20 minutes ready to help fix the mess. Were incredibly professional, prompt, and solved our problem all at a reasonable price. Will definitely use in the future. We can't recommend them enough!!!

We've used Steve twice now to fix a broken toilet and to unclog a tub and sink. Both times he was on time (once was early!) and very friendly. He gave me a one-hour time window and was in and out during that time! I don't think I can say that about any other maintenance appointments I've experienced. Both times he also was able to get us an appointment within 24 hours.

Bottom line: Our toilets are flushing and our drains are clear! Steve is great!!

It's generally hard to find a plumber that can come in under a week or two in Capitol Hill/NE, but these guys, a father and sons team, made it out the same day, did a very thorough job, and followed up several times in the days following. The owner used to be on the DC board for those involved in the plumbing trade, and he left for some time and now is back and getting this business off the ground. He was recommend to us via the plumber Compass real estate recommended, who was unavailable. When we had a leak, Excellence took the time to think creatively about the cause, attempted several fixes just for good measure, and did it all with minimal damage to our home, which is NOT what other plumbers we called said they would do. When we later had Magnolia plumbing come out b/c Excellence was unavailable that night we were free, the Magnolia guys, well-respected, expensive, and with a long, reliable history, first asked if we'd checked x, y, and z, which Excellence had, showing they knew what they were doing. I appreciated their kind attitude and follow up. Indeed, a couple days later, they came and extended out downspout for free! A totally unrelated issue! Much appreciated!

Update: Had Steve come fix a broken faucet outside about six months after our first job. We didn't tell him what Magnolia had told us they would do to fix it, but Steve did the same as they said they would for about half the price. He's a pleasure to talk to. Our kid is a huge fan.

Very disappointed. I had high hopes after reading stellar reviews. Called specifically for a tough toilet clog and an extraordinarily slow emptying bathtub. We recently renovated a 100-year-old house and have had some issues with the older pipes. I was told the cost up front over the phone for the toilet and bathtub service, even though they hadn't seen either. I was also told they'd take a look inside our kitchen wall where we thought we were having leaky pipes for no charge.
Turns out our toddlers had stuffed a towel in the toilet. They snaked the tub, but it made absolutely no difference. It runs out as slowly as it did before the service. They did not look inside the wall. I called after the service (I was not home when it was performed), to explain that I was disappointed about some of the work and that they didn't look into the wall. I got voicemail, so I sent a text and did not get a response. I was hoping to establish a relationship with a good plumber, but now it looks like I have to go back on the hunt. Very disappointed.

Wow! If I could give 100 stars, this business would be it. Called about a sink issue and had been told by a previous plumber it would require snaking AND a very costly repair. Steve showed up at my door less than 15 minutes after my call. Promptly snaked my drain and got my sink fixed in less than 20 minutes. What I appreciated most was the honest and forthright opinion on the drain (no extra repair really needed). Steve and his son were professional, kind, honest, and treat all of their customers like family. Icing on the cake was the EXTREMELY GENEROUS MILITARY DISCOUNT. THANK YOU!!! Holy heck, where do I begin? These guys are amazing. The brothers came out and were awesome, and the father put me at ease on the telephone during a very stressful time. We had an emergency plumbing problem, called in the morning, and they did everything they could to fit us in. When they couldn't immediately fix the problem with the tools they brought, they set up an appointment for the next day. However, these guys actually came back the same day because they said they ""couldn't leave me like that."" We're in a building and three units wouldn't have been able to use water in the kitchen due to a problem in the main line. They even noted and fixed a problem with our dishwasher hook-up. I can't recommend them enough - they were friendly, highly skilled and obviously really compassionate. These folks are the best of the best, and they also seem like a really nice family. We called several other plumbers, trying to get someone in, and their rates were on par with others. We think we got outstanding service for the money anyhow. We used them again a few weeks later to replace our leaking P trap under the kitchen sink and again... perfect. I'm so happy we have good plumbers to call!

Steve and Jay are fantastic and incredibly responsive. I had two very old toilets that wouldn't stop running/had loud noises upon flushing. Rather than trying to sell me new toilets, Steve and Jay worked to fix the problem in the most cost-effective way. Even after one solution didn't quite work, they came back to make sure they got it right and only charged me for parts. Not to mention, Steve is pretty much the nicest guy around and will make you a magical home remedy for cold & flu season if you ask nicely.

Steve Givens is the best. He is not only a very able plumber, but also a lovely human being. He and Jay helped us replace a broken old water heater with a new tankless one in very quick order from calling to completion. He advised us where to buy the new heater that was cheaper than Home Depot (Ferguson Plumbing Supply) and even picked it out for us and helped us purchase it over the phone when we were unexpectedly unavailable to go get it in person then delivered it to us. Then he reserved a weekend day for us to install the thing including arranging for an electrician to come pull a new electrical line to supply the new heater... all the while listening to some quality jazz to help the work along :)
